LARPD is seeking a summer intern to support the Summer Youth Volunteer Program.  Applicants should have the equivalent of one year of college credits completed toward a degree.  Candidates interested in learning about recreation, volunteer management, and community services will be given preference.  Interested candidates should complete an application online. The intern will be responsible for key deliverables while learning about special districts and the Livermore community.

Community Outreach: Summer Youth Volunteers Project Plan 

The Community Outreach team is seeking a summer intern for a 10–12-week assignment.  The goal of the internship is to gain valuable experience managing high school aged volunteers that will support a variety of summer camps and programs throughout the district.  

Key duties 

• Be primary point of contact for Summer Youth Volunteers. 

• Assist with volunteer orientation and ongoing training sessions throughout the summer. 

• Oversee volunteer schedule. 

• Track volunteer hours logging. 

• Create program completion documents. 

• Assist with planning end of summer recognition event. 

Key deliverables will be: 

• Maintain volunteer hour tracking and create end of summer recap report. 

• Complete summer training and check-in reports. 

• Create and distribute volunteer completion certification with hours totals for all summer volunteers. 

• Report any concerns from staff and volunteers or development opportunities for volunteers through regular check-ins. 

What learning will occur for the intern? 

• Experience managing volunteers. 

• Learn how summer programs work/run in a special district.  

• Gain familiarity with volunteer management software. 

• Graphic design creating infographics and end-of-summer reports. 

• Communication opportunities both with program staff and volunteers. 

Timing 

June-August 9th.  Interns may start and end later but need to be present for the core Sessions slated for the entire month of June, July and through August 9th.  

Work hours will be Monday – Friday, 25-30 hours per week during the 12 weeks of employment.  The pay rate will be $20 per hour.  All interns will be required to successfully complete a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and undergo a TB test as a condition of employment.

The City of Berkeley is seeking a Senior Public Health Nurse who is passionate about working with community members and partners! In this role, you will take an equity-focused approach to supporting good health for families and individuals across the lifespan.

The Senior Public Health Nurse will provide health consultations and case management in a multidisciplinary team for families facing complex health challenges. In addition to providing consultations and trainings for community based organizations and providers, this position will also lead initiatives to enhance professional development for a team of nurses and support program planning for Public Health Nursing services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing, with major course work in nursing, and two (2) years of public health nursing experience.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Director of Administrative Services, the Management Analyst (Risk Management) provides professional support to risk management programs including: workers' compensation, safety compliance, review and approval of contracts and Certificates of Insurance, risk transfer, and leave and disability administration. 

In addition, you will have the opportunity to coordinate and oversee workers' compensation claims management including monitoring accepted claims and providing information to claimants, attorneys, and the workers' compensation carrier. You will also serve as a consultant to City departments and employees on Risk Management (workers' compensation, safety, contract insurance) problems and communicate regularly with internal and external parties to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of assigned programs and activities, minimize risk, and advise of claim developments. THE POSITION
The Manager, Quantitative Analysis and Modeling is responsible for organizing, assigning, reviewing and participating in professional duties related to analysis and modeling, structured product development, portfolio risk management, and integrated resource planning. Duties include:

• Planning, prioritizing, reviewing and participating in the performance of professional analysis and modeling of risk and value around complex transactions and portfolio positions, including structured products, rate analysis and development, and hedging strategies.
• Developing methods and schedules to accomplish assignments, ensuring work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Developing pricing and calibration models for a variety of products.
• Solving challenging quantitative problems related to setting rates and valuations for structured products.
• Developing Monte-Carlo simulations on a large scale across several variables with relevant coefficients.
• Performing fast and accurate market risk measurements.
•  Conducting complex market and portfolio modeling and analysis of Pioneer’s power supply position to effectively monitoring exposure to adverse market changes.
• Coordinating and participating in Pioneer’s integrated resource planning process including providing analysis and input related to production cost modeling from the CPUC, CAISO, IOUs, and CalCCA.
• Creating and implementing measures to benchmark system implementations, enhancements, or modifications by providing documented system specifications, evaluating vendor proposals, and recommending appropriate course of action.
• Developing portfolio dashboard showing key metrics and risk positions.
• Using a variety of computer software programs to prepare reports, graphs and other materials related to energy resources, finance models and customer statistics.
• Maintaining liaison with regional resource planning or supply agencies; serving on Pioneer committees as required; evaluating proposals in terms of resource costs, availability and consistency with long-term financial projections and resource needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates will have an ability to perform complex analytical work in support of Pioneer’s product structuring, resource planning activities and rate setting and apply analytical and research methods to a variety of electric utility program areas including planning, forecasting, load research, utility demand, and demand-side management.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, Financial Engineering, or Economics.
Experience: Five to ten (plus) years of experience in a position with similar duties including programming expertise (e.g., C++, Python, R, Matlab).

COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Salary - The salary range is $115,934 - $173,322, with placement dependent on qualifications plus generous benefits

The Position

The Management Analyst I/II position is responsible for performing varied technical, professional administrative and analytical duties in support of a broad range of the City Manager's Office's operations.
