CIVIC FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The City of Woodland has established a paid summer fellowship program for individuals early in their career seeking public service experience. This program invests in our local workforce and fosters a passion for careers in the public sector. During the eight (8)-week program, fellows will work with a city department and participate in program-wide activities.
Typical work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week. For more information, visit cityofwoodland.org/1429/Civic-Fellowship-Program.
This fellowship posting if for the Climate and Equity Analyst in the City Manager’s Office of Equity, Engagement, Economy, & Environment.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Climate and Equity Analyst will research best practices for sustainability and equity initiatives. Specifically, the Civic Fellow will research how other cities share their Climate Action Plan progress, compare different models, and choose the best system for the City's Climate Action Plan. Using this research, the Civic Fellow will then create and launch a public-facing Climate Action Plan tracking system. Additional research tasks include analyzing language accessibility for the City's website and public-facing documents, investigating other City's employee wellness models, and proposing an employee wellness model framework for the City to adopt.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general direction from the designated City employee.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate would be someone interested in Public Policy, research, and sustainability with strong writing and communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of high school education
- Local Woodland knowledge preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and perform multiple tasks with accuracy
- Possess a high degree of initiative
- Excellent meeting facilitation skills, including the ability to effectively present information to a wide variety of audiences
- Ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of another language is beneficial

Salary Range
$19.00 - $24.00 / hour dependent on experience.
