Primary responsibilities and duties of the Senior C/CAG Stormwater Program Specialist may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Performs a variety of professional duties related to the C/CAG's Countywide Water Pollution Prevention Program.
• Develops, implements, coordinates, promotes, monitors, and evaluates one or more pollution prevention, resource conservation, environmental compliance, and/or permitting programs/projects.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Policy or Studies, Urban Planning, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, or a closely related field. A master’s degree is preferred but not required.

Woodside Fire Protection District offers an exceptional Cadet Program for individuals interested in a career in the Fire Service. Cadets gain hands-on experience participating in training and public service events. Cadets work 24-hour shifts and ride-along on emergency calls.

Woodside Cadets will work and be involved in:

Emergency calls, firefighter training, public education events, fire prevention, station duties, CERPP, CPR/first aid training. They must also meet monthly hour requirements and attend monthly training drills.

Job Description

Under direct supervision, the Development Strategy & Finance Sr. Analyst works within the Port’s Real Estate and Development Division leading analytical work related to the Port’s Public-Private Partnership Development Projects. Key tasks will include preparing complex financial analyses and reports, analyzing development pro formas and appraisals, coordinating the issuance and disbursement of bonds and associated record keeping documentation, supporting with development negotiations, and managing division-wide contracts, billings, and budgets.

The Sr. Analyst will support Project Managers with all aspects of Port Development projects. The role will receive support in learning and performing all tasks with the goal of independently managing specific areas over time. The Development team and this position are collaborative in nature, and the Sr. Analyst will work with both internal and external stakeholders including all Port Divisions, specifically Port Finance and the Port’s Resilience team, the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, the Office of Public Finance, and private development partners.

The essential functions of this position include:

• Analyzes Port-wide development opportunities to prioritize projects and determine value to support Port-wide Sea Level Rise resilience projects.
• Reviews project pro formas, appraisals, and other financial analyses to determine fiscal feasibility and economic value to the Port.
• Supports Port Development, Finance, and Office of Public Finance teams with tax district formation and bond issuances.
• Tracks ongoing Project finances to ensure projects stay on budget, public sources are sufficient for funding, and Port meets revenue expectations.

Qualifications

Education

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; AND

Experience

Three (3) years full-time equivalent experience performing professional-level analytical work. Qualifying professional-level analytical work includes analysis, development, administration, and reporting in major programs and functions of an organization in the areas of budgets, contracts, grants, policy, or other functional areas related to the duties of positions in the 1823 Class series; AND

License and Certification

Possession of a valid California driver’s license (to be presented at time of appointment).  Employees must be insurable under the Port’s automobile liability insurance.  Insurability must be maintained throughout employment.

The Assistant Civil Engineer is an entry-level class in the Civil Engineer series. This class is distinguished from the Associate Civil Engineer by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the Civil Engineer series. Incumbents perform less complex office and field engineering work and assignments are generally routine or closely related within a framework of established procedures. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have applicable education but only limited related work experience. The Assistant Civil Engineer receives general supervision from higher level professional engineers and may exercise technical or functional supervision over technical engineering staff. The Assistant Civil Engineer position does not require registration as a civil engineer or professional engineer. 

The Associate Civil Engineer performs a variety of complex engineering work for design, investigation, and management of public works projects and oversight of private development and permitted construction, prepares a variety of engineering documents, drawings and specifications, to act as project manager in assigned capital projects; and to perform a variety of professional public works and engineering tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.  

This is the full journey level class within the professional Civil Engineer series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Assistant Civil Engineer by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, including by the greater complexity of the assignments received and by the greater independence with which an incumbent is expected to operate. Incumbents are expected to complete complex engineering assignments requiring the use of judgment and initiative in developing solutions to problems, interpreting general policies, and determining work assignments. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the Assistant Civil Engineer level, or when filled from the outside, have prior advanced technical or professional engineering work experience. THE DEPARTMENT

The Community Development department is responsible for ensuring a sustainable and vibrant community that supports a high quality of life for residents, businesses and visitors. It includes the Building, Planning and Housing divisions, and core services include building permits, plan check, inspections, affordable housing administration and housing initiatives, as well as long-range planning and development review. The Building Division is responsible for managing the building permit, plan check and inspection processes for compliance with all applicable State laws, local municipal codes and related policies involving building construction, which requires a high level of customer service with the public and coordination within and across departments and agencies.

THE POSITION

The Building Official oversees the development of programs, projects, operations, and services of the Building Division, and is a part of the Community Development management team. This position will manage a 13-member team, including a Permit Manager, Building Permit Technicians, Plan Check Engineer, and Building Inspectors, and will receive general direction from the Assistant Community Development Director or the Community Development Director. Successful performance in this role requires professional and technical skills in the core functional areas of permitting, plan checking and building inspections, as well as knowledge of public policy and municipal services, and excellence in communication and leadership. The individual must be able to assess the current needs of the department and look for innovative ways to help the department advance to improve service delivery and meet the changing needs of the community. This will require guiding modifications to the City’s land management permitting system (Accela) to improve processes, enhance customer service and monitor data.

With the adoption of the General Plan Update in 2016 and, most recently, the Housing Element zoning-related changes, the City is expected to see physical change as plans come to fruition. A key priority for this position will be overseeing the building permit process for a diverse range of projects from tenant improvements to new single-family residential construction to hotels to large-scale, comprehensive planned mixed-use campuses. Currently, the City has approximately 775 residential units and 260,000 square feet of life science uses under construction, with over 2,000 residential units, two hotels and more than 1.8 million square feet of commercial square footage approved, but not yet under construction, along with a number of large development projects currently under review. The County of San Mateo Public Works Department is seeking highly motivated and hardworking individuals to join their team as Road Maintenance Workers. There are multiple vacancies to be filled throughout the department.

The Road Maintenance Division of County of San Mateo's Department of Public Works is responsible for routine and emergency repairs to over 315 miles of road surfaces, culverts, shoulders, drainage facilities, and roadside vegetation on roads within the public right-of-way of San Mateo County's unincorporated districts.

Road Maintenance Workers perform a variety of heavy manual labor tasks including:
 

• Digging and clearing ditches.
• Trimming and removing vegetation along the roadways.
• Trimming trees.
• Cleaning catch basins.
• Patching streets, repairing potholes.

The County of San Mateo Department of Public Works is looking for up to 2 summer interns to perform a variety of administrative and technical functions in the Engineering and Resource Protection Division. Interns will gain on-the-job experience under the guidance of experienced professional engineers, Public Works Technicians, and surveyors while participating in various activities in the assigned discipline.
College students in Associate, Undergraduate and Graduate Degree programs studying the following are encouraged to apply:

1. Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical, Structural, Transportation and Water Resources Engineering)
2. Construction Management    
3. Land Surveying 
4. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Technology
5. Computer Science as related to Website Design

 

Examples Of Duties

• Scan, review, and file documents.
• Prepare letters, forms, spreadsheets, and database.
• Evaluate Division web pages and make recommendations for improvements.
• Aid in design tasks under supervision, such as drafting plans, specifications, utility letters, and creating models.
• Assist with field inspections to assess construction progress and current site conditions.
• Collect, enter, and analyze project-related data.
• Prepare reports, flyers, and presentations summarizing findings and observations.
• Support permitting processes by gathering documentation and liaising with regulatory agencies.
• Assist with inspections during the construction phase by reviewing plans and responding to RFIs, preparing CCO’s and construction related correspondences.
• Maintain organized records of project documents and correspondence.
• Conduct research on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with project team members to ensure alignment with project goals.
• Attend training sessions and workshops for professional development.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: At the time of submitting application, you must be enrolled in an accredited university or a community college.  

• Must be eligible to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must possess a high school diploma or educational equivalent
• Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation prior to employment
• Must be returning to your associate, undergraduate or graduate program or entering/continuing a graduate program in Fall, 2024
• Students enrolled in second-to-last or last semester and will soon graduate are also encouraged to apply.

 After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process, which includes the following:
The selection process will include an evaluation of applications in relation to minimum requirements. Depending on the number of applicants, the department may establish and implement additional screening mechanisms to comparatively evaluate the qualifications of candidates. If this becomes necessary, only those applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the department will move forward in the recruitment process.
