The City of San Jose’s Planning, Building and Code Enforcement Department is building the San Jose of tomorrow. Under immediate/general supervision from a Maintenance Supervisor, and technical and functional supervision from a lead worker; to perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of landscape and parks, streets, equipment or building maintenance; occasionally assist in repair work; perform heavy manual labor. This classification does not operate heavy equipment and does not operate riding mowers.

Under general direction, performs complex work of considerable difficulty in governmental accounting and financial analysis. Plans, organizes, manages and directs the activities of the Accountants, Accounts Payable, and Payroll within the Support Services Department, provides highly complex staff assistance to an executive manager within the Support Services Department; performs other related duties as required.
To service and perform minor repairs and a variety of semi-skilled preventative maintenance duties on a variety of automotive and other power-driven and mechanical equipment.
The purpose of this recruitment is to hire a temporary/part-time position. Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications for the Equipment Service Worker position may be considered for employment as an Intern. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
