The City of Berkeley invites applications for the position of Community Health Worker Specialist! In this role, you will have the opportunity to perform paraprofessional duties related to preventive and supportive health care services. The current vacant position is in disease investigation, where you will assist in the control of disease outbreaks by conducting interviews with persons diagnosed with reportable diseases, their contacts, and healthcare providers.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and two (2) years of paraprofessional experience in a public health or related setting, supplemented by formal or approved in-service training, which has provided additional expertise and demonstrated proficiency in an area of specialization such as training, examination, screening, counseling, or outreach.

Additional health science and community health coursework may be substituted for the experience on a year by year basis, to a maximum of one (1) year.

Other requirements: Some positions require a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Must be willing to work evenings or weekends. Some positions require bilingual or bicultural skills. Possession of a Phlebotomy Certificate is required for those positions that perform venipuncture, and the certification must be maintained as a condition of continued employment in those positions.

Makes copies of correspondence or other printed materials.

Prepares outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail and faxes.

Within budget, orders and maintains supplies and arranges for equipment maintenance.

Provides support or backup to the Receptionist, other Administrative Assistants, and Executive Assistant as needed. Participates in Administrative Assistants meetings. 

Assists in coordinating the monthly Agenda Packet materials for the Commission.

Maintains the business unit SharePoint workspace and associated systems, including business web page.

Develops, maintains, and administers a regulatory tracking system to support agency regulatory requirements.

Develops, prepares, and administers Agency contracts and agreements, including the development of contract templates, tracking of contract records in the Agency records-keeping system, and processing various contractual requirements.

Assist with the development and preparation of Agency staff reports and resolutions, including supporting documents.

Provide support for Agency contract administration functions, including tracking, storage, review, and validation of agency contracts and agreements.

May prepare or review expense reports, check requests, and purchase requisitions.

May perform other duties as needed.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and a minimum of three years related administrative experience supporting a high-level manager and his/her staff; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This is the advanced journey-level classification in the Lifeguard classification series responsible for providing lead direction and training to lower-level staff and for ensuring that the District’s aquatics facilities are maintained in a safe and effective working condition.  Incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver services.  Work is reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements.  This classification is distinguished from the Lifeguard II by the assignment of more complex tasks requiring a greater level of technical and specialized knowledge and a higher degree of independent judgment, including serving in a lead capacity over lower level staff.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED;

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is primarily performed within a public swimming pool environment, where stamina is needed to perform moderate to heavy lifting of pool equipment and furniture or children and adults who may require removal from the pool, and to stay in the pool for prolonged periods.  Must possess the mobility to stand, stoop, kneel, reach, bend, climb, push and pull materials and equipment, and swim while wearing an appropriate uniform with protective equipment.  Vision and hearing must be sufficient to see and hear adults and children in crowded and noisy conditions and/or situations.  Must also possess:  the mobility to work in an office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or by using a telephone and radio.  Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or to operate safety equipment.  Must possess the ability to swim distances and dive to pool depths, as determined by testing/certification authorities, and to lift 150 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.

THE POSITION: 

The City of San Pablo is actively recruiting for a Community Services Coordinator I/II position to plan, organize, and direct services and programs within the Community Services Department for our senior population, volunteer programs and city-wide special events. Our senior programs provide opportunities for adults 50 years of age and older, to engage in active and healthy programming. Receives general supervision from higher-level supervisory staff and direction from higher-level staff.  Exercises no supervision over staff.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the journey-level classification in the Lifeguard series responsible for performing the full range of lifeguard duties, including patron safety and opening/closing an assigned pool facility.  Incumbents at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the aquatics operating procedures and policies.  This classification is distinguished from the Aquatics Lead in that the latter is an advanced journey-level classification which provides technical and functional direction over assigned lifeguard staff.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other responsibilities include tracking and meter data management validation duties, GHG (Greenhouse Gas) monitoring and analysis, analysis and testing associated with new CAISO market initiatives, and comprehensive analytic or technical studies, as required, including proceedings before state and federal regulatory agencies and public officials. This is a full journey-level position capable of performing all the duties and responsibilities of the Settlements Analyst I. Performs the full range of duties as assigned, receiving only occasional instruction, training, or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. Additionally, incumbents perform a variety of assigned complex technical and professional work in the areas of power accounts settlements, budgeting, systems development, and audit. Monitors settlements associated with Renewable Energy Credits and acts as or provides support to NCPA’s Qualified Reporting Entity representative; registers credits on the Western Renewable Energy Generation Information System (“WREGIS”) or its successor.

Monitors settlements functions of Western capacity and energy allocations, market purchases and sales, Pool transmission activity, and other transactions as they occur; Prepares or reviews power settlement transactions for proper budget classification.

Conducts special studies requiring complex, voluminous, and detailed analysis of power costs and revenues. Recommends operational changes that provide better value to Members and Participants.

Coordinates and participates in the development, analysis, and monitoring of the Agency's power supply budgets. Acts as power settlements representative to other department managers and supervisors in regard to cost summary and budgetary reports.

Assists with the implementation of systems, policies, and procedures and special projects requiring highly technical study and analyses. Recommends changes or modifications to methods or systems as applicable.

Assists with formal budget and other presentations to upper management and the governing body.
Performs special assignments for the Power Settlements Supervisor or others as assigned, including preparation of testimony and exhibits for presentation before state and national regulatory proceedings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university with an emphasis on quantitative analysis, plus four (4) years of prior experience as a Power Settlements Analyst I or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Tiny Tots Instructor will teach assigned classes of pre-school children ranging in ages from 18 months to 5 years old in enrichment, recreational and educational based programming (Tiny Tots Aide will assist).
