We are seeking an innovative and proactive Building Official with a positive, forward-thinking perspective. The Building Official will manage all building division functions (building permit issuance, plan check, and building inspections). The position reports to the Community Development Director. The Building Official will assist in integrating the City’s vision, goals, and people strategy with the business strategy of the Community Development Department; managing, planning, and organizing Community Development services, programs, and operations; developing and implementing policy; crafting and accomplishing department and City objectives, goals, and performance metrics within guidelines established by the City Council and City Manager. The Building Official must exercise a high degree of judgment and discretion along with political acumen and an understanding of the needs of the community.

The City is experiencing a high volume of development applications, including residential, commercial, assisted living, and industrial projects. There is also significant interest in downtown revitalization. Some key initiatives on the horizon for the Building Official include:

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking highly motivated and results-oriented Utilities Maintenance Worker I/II/Trainees for the Water and Wastewater divisions of the Public Works Department.  Applications are currently being accepted to fill two positions at the Municipal Service Center in the Newbury Park area of Thousand Oaks (one each in Water and Wastewater). Dependent upon the candidate's qualifications, the vacancies will be filled at either the Utilities Maintenance Worker Level I, Level II or Trainee.

Glenn County is recruiting individuals to fill three full time and multiple Part Time/ Extra Help positions in the Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker I/II/III position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of County roads, bridges, and other related structures, and in various traffic control maintenance and  repair activities of the Public Works Agency; operates a variety of construction, maintenance and transportation equipment as necessary to complete daily tasks at the Glenn County Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker III position is the journey-level class in the series, and is distinguished from the Public Works Maintenance Worker II by the primary responsibility to operate heavy diesel and gasoline-powered construction equipment in the maintenance of roadways, drainage systems. 
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Prepares roads for patch repairs, overlays, or chip seals; prepares mix for patching roads; repairs and reconstructs roads.
• Cleans roadsides and drainage systems; inspects and clears debris from drainage systems; conducts roadside burning as needed.

The City of Marysville is hiring for a total of 1 Engineer position, and create an Employment List.

Performs advanced firefighting and rescue activities; operates and maintains the entire range of Fire Department vehicles, apparatus, equipment, and facilities; drives large fire apparatus in various traffic conditions; provides emergency medical and rescue services to the community; and performs related duties and responsibilities as required. The Fire Engineer receives direct supervision from the Fire Captain. This classification may be assigned temporary command of a fire station and may exercise functional supervision over staff during the assigned shift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is conducted both in a fire station and in the field in various settings. Some of these include exposure to smoke, odors, heat, steam, fumes, and dust, as well as periodic exposure to dangerous or life-threatening situations. Work involves irregular hours during days and evenings, on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

This position performs a variety of work in the monitoring of county, state and federal detainees and maintains the security and safety of inmates and staff.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs booking procedures, including receiving, booking and assigning prisoners to cells; performing body searches; fingerprinting, and photographing prisoners, etc.
• Maintains custody of prisoners’ private property.
• Maintains the safe and orderly operation of the County jail facility; monitors security cameras and door warning lights; screens and monitors visitors. Inspects all of inmates’ incoming and outgoing mail and telegrams.
• Inspects facilities regularly.
• Monitors the condition and activities of prisoners.
• Prepares prisoners for court appearances; provides transportation as necessary.
• Administers First Aid in emergency situations.

This position will perform a variety of responsible law enforcement and crime prevention work, including patrolling assigned areas, answering calls and complaints, investigating crimes, serving civil papers, and providing court room security; enforce all federal and state laws and local ordinances related to public safety and welfare.

• Performs routine patrol duties, including but not limited to patrolling assigned areas of the County; responding to emergency calls and/or public calls for assistance; investigating disturbances, prowlers, burglaries, thefts, vehicle accidents and other crimes; checking buildings for physical security, etc.

We are seeking a customer-focused, accountable, and results-oriented individual to conduct a variety of skilled building maintenance duties with competence and professionalism.  

Primary responsibilities:

• Perform repair and maintenance of City buildings, facilities, and grounds (plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, remodeling, painting, and a variety of craft work)
• Inspect and perform necessary repairs at assigned facilities for compliance with safety standards
• Install and repair piping for water and air conditioning lines
• Perform rough and finish carpentry for signs, decks, fences, gates, and related items
• Perform electrical repairs (replacing outlets, switches, lighting, and ballasts)
• Build and repair interior cabinetry (counters, cabinets, and shelves)
• Refinish furniture including stripping, staining, and varnishing

Public Health Nurses are assigned to specific programs such as Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health, California Children’s Services, Child Health and Disability Prevention, Foster Care and communicable disease control. Public Health Nurse Intern: is a recruiting and training level class established to qualify candidates for duties as a PHN in Yuba County Health & Human Services Department. Under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas while pursuing a Public Health Nurse Certification. Upon satisfactory completion of the PHN Certification, the PHN Intern are eligible for promotion to the level of PHN. Incumbents who do not successfully complete the PHN certification as prescribed herein may be released from employment.

Public Health Nurse: is the entry level in this class series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas. As experience is gained, assignments become more complex and are performed under more general supervision.
