THE POSITION:

The Facilities Carpenter I is an entry level classification in the carpentry series. Carpenters in this class are assigned routine skilled carpentry tasks. Under the training concept of growing excellence in craft, positions allocated to the Facilities Carpenter II level which become vacant may reasonably be filled at the I level. 
 

The Facilities Carpenter II is responsible for performing a variety of skilled carpentry and related tasks in the construction, remodeling, repair, and maintenance of City facilities. This the journey level classification within the carpenter series. Incumbents at this level act with independence, handle "master" craftworker projects, and assume the more complex activities which would otherwise require the attention and coordination of the Facilities and Building Manager. 

 

 

Essential Duties

What you will do: 

Depending on assignment, duties may include but are not limited to the following:  
 

1. Remodels offices in City facilities. Takes down walls, doors and windows, reinstalls new walls and cuts in new doorways.

2. Installs, repairs and replaces doors, door closures, windows, floors, roofs, and other structural appurtenances.

3. Builds and repairs wooden fixtures and office furniture of all kinds.

4. Fabricates new cabinets, bookshelves and countertops.

5. Performs maintenance and repair work on all city buildings, rental units, and on private residences involving Police damage to the premises.

6. Rescreens screen doors and window screens.

7. Fabricates tack boards and bulletin boards.

8. May perform allied craft work in the course of maintaining City facilities.

9. Performs related work as necessary.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

THE POSITION: 

The City of San Pablo is actively recruiting for a Community Services Coordinator I/II position to plan, organize, and direct services and programs within the Community Services Department for our senior population, volunteer programs and city-wide special events. Our senior programs provide opportunities for adults 50 years of age and older, to engage in active and healthy programming. The Church Lane Senior Center hosts a congregate lunch program, numerous senior focused special events, weekday door-to-door transportation service (managed by a different full-time coordinator) and drop- in programs and classes. DEFINITION:

TRANSIT PLANNER ASSISTANT

Under close supervision, the Assistant Transit Planner is responsible for providing entry level support to assist in the development, administration and analysis of the City’s public transit programs.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:

Temporary Maintenance Worker – Parks & Roadsides 

Salary: $20.00/hour

 

DEFINITION 

Perform a variety of general maintenance services for parks and roadsides and other areas as assigned within the Town.   

 

• This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position. 
• Flexible schedule up to 29 hours per week, which may include weekend work; not to exceed 950 hours per calendar year.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED 

General supervision is received from the Maintenance Supervisor. May exercise supervision of Work Alternative Program participants as assigned. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES 

Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:  

• Clean up trash in and around Town-maintained park and roadside areas. 
• Operate a variety of equipment, including: half ton and three-quarter ton trucks, Cushman and golf cart (or similar) vehicles, blowers and other two-cycle equipment, and hand tools (i.e., shovel, rake, hoe, etc.). 
• Periodically groom sports fields and bocce ball courts with equipment and/or machinery provided. 
• Prepare baseball fields and bocce ball courts for league play. 
• Assist Maintenance Services personnel on assigned projects.  

• Perform duties within OSHA standards. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Knowledge of: 

• Construction and maintenance materials, methods, and terminology.

Under general direction of Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Program Coordinator, the Community and Recreation Program Specialist will assist in coordinating and implementing various community and recreation programs as well as assist with office duties, facility responsibilities, and perform related work as assigned.

 

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

The Community and Recreation Program Specialist is an intermediate level position in the Community and Recreation Services and is responsible for the daily operations in the absence of the Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Program Coordinator. This position is responsible for the implementation of scheduled activities, provide customer service to participants and the public, and ensure strict adherence to standards to maintain program operations while creating a safe and secure environment. Community Outreach: Summer Youth Volunteers Project Plan 

The Community Outreach team is seeking a summer intern for a 10–12-week assignment.  The goal of the internship is to gain valuable experience managing high school aged volunteers that will support a variety of summer camps and programs throughout the district.  

 

Key duties 

• Be primary point of contact for Summer Youth Volunteers. 

• Assist with volunteer orientation and ongoing training sessions throughout the summer.

• Create program completion documents.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Camp Maintenance Mechanic (Non-Career Intermittent) in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to keep our camps running smoothly by performing both routine and heavy, physical work in the construction, maintenance, repair and cleaning of camp facilities. You'll operate a variety of hand and power tools to perform preventive maintenance and repair.

Our two overnight camps are located near South Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is: Equivalent to graduation from high school, and one (1) year of experience in construction and maintenance.

State of California Drinking Water Treatment Certifications (Grade 1 or 2) desirable. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in civil or traffic engineering and five years of increasingly responsible traffic engineering experience, three years of which were at a level equivalent to the Assistant Transportation Engineer class. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college course work on a year for year basis.

Other requirements include possession of a valid California Registration as a professional Traffic Engineer or a professional Civil Engineer. A CA Registration as a Traffic Engineer is preferred. Candidates must also possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Desirable qualifications include a master's degree in Transportation Engineering/Planning or a related field.  

POSITION INFORMATION

The Seasonal Park Ranger Aide position requires flexibility with a variable schedule including split shifts and on call availability from May through Labor day.  The site location is at Camp Shelly in South Lake Tahoe.  Lodging will be provided.

This is the entry-level classification in the Park Ranger series responsible for performing a variety of routine maintenance for District parks and open space areas and facilities.  Incumbents at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies.  Work is reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements.  This class is distinguished from the Park Ranger in that the latter provides enforcement of land use laws and regulations and serves as a Peace Officer under the California Penal Code.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS
Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels.  May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions.  Exposure to a variety of plant and animal species.  Incumbents will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS

We are searching for our next Deputy Economic Development Director to lead the city’s thriving Economic Development Division. The Deputy Director is a high-level management position responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and managing the operations related to the City’s Economic Development programs. Division staff work independently and in partnership with other City departments to accomplish economic development objectives and goals; provide policy, technical, and market support on projects; establish metrics for evaluating the success of economic development programs and initiatives; conduct regular assessments and prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders and senior management.

The Economic Development Division is highly regarded by the City Council and has developed exceptional trust within the organization and with our business community. The trust developed within and outside the organization is based on a strong foundation of communication and outreach. Staff regularly visit businesses in person to establish and maintain connections. The Division offers a variety of workshops that further strengthen ties between businesses and the City. Future work includes assistance with development and growth of our local chamber of commerce, identifying new opportunities for advance manufacturing and life science industries, and growing our tax base with our existing and new businesses.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education:

• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Administration, or a related field.
• A Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations or Public Administration is desirable.

Experience:

• Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, redevelopment, real estate development, or related field including two (2) years of supervisory experience.

License:

• Possession of a valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record throughout employment.
