We are looking for a talented and experienced professional to be an Executive Assistant to support the City Manager and Assistant City Manager.  We are seeking a candidate with experience supporting high-level executives within an organization. Someone with the ability to act on the behalf of multiple executives, handling communication, scheduling, and other administrative tasks in support of operations in the Office of the City Manager. We are seeking individuals with distinct skills in organizational capabilities, time management, presentation development, technical knowledge of the specific area of assignment, customer relationship management, excellent writing skills, data entry skills, travel and logistics management, and communication skills.

THE POSITION:

The Facilities Carpenter I is an entry level classification in the carpentry series. Carpenters in this class are assigned routine skilled carpentry tasks. Under the training concept of growing excellence in craft, positions allocated to the Facilities Carpenter II level which become vacant may reasonably be filled at the I level. 
 

The Facilities Carpenter II is responsible for performing a variety of skilled carpentry and related tasks in the construction, remodeling, repair, and maintenance of City facilities. This the journey level classification within the carpenter series. Incumbents at this level act with independence, handle "master" craftworker projects, and assume the more complex activities which would otherwise require the attention and coordination of the Facilities and Building Manager. 

 

 

Essential Duties

What you will do: 

Depending on assignment, duties may include but are not limited to the following:  
 

1. Remodels offices in City facilities. Takes down walls, doors and windows, reinstalls new walls and cuts in new doorways.

2. Installs, repairs and replaces doors, door closures, windows, floors, roofs, and other structural appurtenances.

3. Builds and repairs wooden fixtures and office furniture of all kinds.

4. Fabricates new cabinets, bookshelves and countertops.

5. Performs maintenance and repair work on all city buildings, rental units, and on private residences involving Police damage to the premises.

6. Rescreens screen doors and window screens.

7. Fabricates tack boards and bulletin boards.

8. May perform allied craft work in the course of maintaining City facilities.

9. Performs related work as necessary.

• Tools, materials and standard practices of the carpentry trade.
• The qualities of various woods and related building materials and their suitability and use in specific situations.
• Federal, state, and county municipal building codes.
• Occupational Safety and Health Act safety requirements, and related devices and equipment.

• Skillfully use carpentry and related tools and equipment.
• Work from sketches, drawings, blueprints, plans, specifications and instruction manuals, and independently make necessary corrections.
• Follow verbal and written directions.
• Skillfully use carpentry tools in cabinet work and new construction/remodeling.

Minimum Qualifications

Facilities Carpenter I

Experience: Equivalent to completion of a regular carpentry apprenticeship.

Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.

License: Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California Driver's License.

Facilities Carpenter II

Essential duties require the mental and/or physical work environment: work in variable indoor and outdoor conditions; tolerate exposure to outdoor elements in all weather conditions (e.g. heat, cold, and rain) throughout the year; be able to tolerate some exposure to noise, vibration, chemicals, moving objects, traffic, engine exhaust, dust, mechanical and electrical hazards, and odorous environments; frequently kneel, stoop, crouch, squat, climb, twist, and handle equipment; grasp, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to prepare documents and data using a computer keyboard and mouse/trackball; sit for prolonged periods of time; stand, walk, reach, bend and safely lift and move equipment and materials weighing up to 75 pounds; converse by telephone, by email, in person, and be clearly understood; read and comprehend documents; interact with the public and all different levels of City staff in an effective and professional manner. POLICE ASSISTANT

Salary Range: $19.85 to $30.87/hour; temporary part-time, non-benefitted position, DOE

DEFINITION

The Police Assistant is a civilian, non-sworn, uniformed position that is responsible for a variety of customer service-based interactions with the community. Duties include non-hazardous enforcement of municipal parking laws and regulations as well as clerical front counter tasks related to phone and walk-in contacts at the police department.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from the Administrative Assistant. Projects are assigned, and the person usually works with very little supervision. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

• Handle confidential administrative duties at the front desk.
• Answer/forward all incoming phone calls.

THE POSITION: 

The City of San Pablo is actively recruiting for a Community Services Coordinator I/II position to plan, organize, and direct services and programs within the Community Services Department for our senior population, volunteer programs and city-wide special events. Our senior programs provide opportunities for adults 50 years of age and older, to engage in active and healthy programming. The Church Lane Senior Center hosts a congregate lunch program, numerous senior focused special events, weekday door-to-door transportation service (managed by a different full-time coordinator) and drop- in programs and classes. The city hosts 10-12 city-wide special events each year that include family dances, spring egg hunt, Cinco de Mayo celebration, Movies Under the Stars, 4th of July Multi-Cultural celebration, Halloween, Veterans Day and a Winter Wonderland Festival. The Community Services Department relies heavily on volunteers for both special events and senior programs and wants to expand the volunteer recruitment and training program.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Camp Maintenance Mechanic (Non-Career Intermittent) in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to keep our camps running smoothly by performing both routine and heavy, physical work in the construction, maintenance, repair and cleaning of camp facilities. You'll operate a variety of hand and power tools to perform preventive maintenance and repair.

Our two overnight camps are located near South Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is: Equivalent to graduation from high school, and one (1) year of experience in construction and maintenance.

State of California Drinking Water Treatment Certifications (Grade 1 or 2) desirable. Must possess and maintain a valid California non-commercial (Class C) driver's license, and have a satisfactory driving record. Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80 pounds and be able to perform sustained heavy physical labor. Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on off-hour shifts in emergency situations.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Seasonal Maintenance Worker position performs a variety of entry-level and unskilled labor, maintenance and repair tasks in various public works operations, such as park maintenance, landscape maintenance, creek and catch basin maintenance, street maintenance, and janitorial and facility maintenance.

Typically, work hours are scheduled between Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.  Some hours may be adjusted for special events in evening or on weekends; up to 29 hours per week.

This is a part-time, temporary position with limited duration.

EXAMPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform preparatory work for maintenance activities – gathering equipment, materials and supplies, loading and unloading, and laying out materials and equipment for projects
• Perform a variety of routine physical labor tasks, depending upon area of assignment, such as posting general notices, pulling weeds, picking up litter, raking leaves and debris, planting, miscellaneous painting, replacing light bulbs, emptying trash bins, cleaning park bathroom daily and other minor custodial work
• Perform cleanup at the end of the day or when job is completed, including picking up tools and clearing work areas of spills and debris
• Operate power tools such as power washer, leaf blower and weed eater, as well as basic hand tools such as brooms, shovels, rakes and hoes
• Assist with daily and weekly trash pick-up on park grounds and Town trash receptacles
• Assist with other maintenance duties as assigned
