THE POSITION

Under supervision, a Building Inspector I performs detailed inspection of structures for conformance to codes, ordinances, approved plans, calculations, and specification; and other duties as assigned.

Examples of Important and Essential Functions

Field Inspection Functions

Performs building, fire, electrical, plumbing and mechanical inspections of all structures during construction to ensure conformance to City/State codes, ordinances, approved plans, calculations, and specifications, using appropriate safety precautions; checks for setbacks and conformance to zoning regulations; checks signs and fences; investigates complaints; interprets codes, reports violations and hazardous conditions and orders corrections; notifies builders of required changes and makes re- inspections; performs fire prevention inspections and investigations of new and existing structures; and advises the public regarding construction practices and principles.

Administrative Functions

Reviews plans and specifications for the purpose of conducting building inspection work; prepares records, reports and correspondence; utilizes personal computers to perform data entry functions; and may be assigned to assist in the Permit Center, as needed.

Assistant Planner - This is the entry-level class within the professional Planner series. This class is distinguished from the journey level by the performance of more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters allocated to the journey level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees have only limited or no directly related professional planning work experience. Employees work under general supervision while learning job tasks.


Incumbents may advance from the Assistant Planner to the Associate Planner level based on a recommendation by their supervisor and approval from the Director of Development Services or designee. Advancement may result after the incumbent gains sufficient knowledge and experience in professional Planning work, as well as City and departmental practices and procedures, to be able to consistently perform the work of the higher classification.

This class is distinguished from that of the Senior Planner, which is an advanced journey level class responsible for more complex and difficult planning projects and programs and exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.

 

 

Essential Duties

What you will do:  
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

Research, analyze and interpret social, economic, population and land use data, trends and reports.

Prepare and present written reports on various planning matters such as elements of the general plan, neighborhood plans, demographic or housing analysis, code amendments, and miscellaneous land use studies.

Prepare and/or monitor preparation of environmental documents including environmental analyses of development impacts and related preparation of negative declarations and/or environmental impact reports; work with consultants in facilitating preparation of environmental impact reports and related findings and documentation.

Review building, site and architectural plans, use permits, zone changes, variances, development proposals, applications and other related documents for conformance to City standards and other applicable state and federal rules and regulations; serve as primary point of contact to developers and property owners in meeting these standards.

Prepare and update maps, graphs and other graphics for use in reports and public presentations.

Review and analyze development proposals and work with developers, the public and other agencies regarding various land use permits, general plan amendments, and zone changes.

Provide information to the public, developers, public officials and staff members about land use matters to clarify and assure conformance to city and state policies and regulations regarding zoning and other development controls, acceptable development proposals, compatibility with adopted plans and environmental impacts.

Make presentations to the Planning Commission, City Council, and other interested parties regarding land use applications, general plan amendments, zoning changes, code amendments, and special studies.

Analyze, interpret and apply regional, state, and federal regulations.

Coordinate ongoing planning related programs or projects involving multi-department and multi-jurisdictional cooperation; provide professional planning guidance in responding to questions or inquiries.

Attend and serve on intra-departmental and inter-agency planning committees.

Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.

What You’ll Do

The Assistant to the City Clerk position serves as the welcoming and friendly face of government for both the City Council and the City Clerk’s office as this position is the first contact for the front counter and the primary receptionist. The position requires an ability to help demystify government services and processes, learn and maintain an understanding of all government services and procedures and help citizens get to the right service. The position’s administrative functions include responsibility for records management including filing and scanning; managing off-site records inventory; managing and ordering office supply inventory; writing correspondence, creating certificates of commendation and writing proclamations on behalf of the Mayor. This position is also charged with maintaining multiple calendars, processing reservations and invoices and acting as primary administrative support for Council and the City Clerk. Excellent attention to detail, writing and proofreading skills are required and a positive upbeat attitude with the ability to be flexible, resilient, and creative when situations change is essential. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, a passion for making a difference and helping citizens, and a desire to grow in this field.

Some of the duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Attend meetings as required, may prepare meeting minutes, may assist in City Council agenda preparation and follow-up, as needed; manage Council reservations, correspondence and calendars
• Manage, implement, and monitor the Clerk’s records management programs, including document imaging, the receipt, storage, retrieval and disposition of official City records; work with records representatives from other departments and train them in the process
• Assist with coordinating the bi-annual City-wide Records Clean-up Event; maintain comprehensive indexing and filing system of City Council actions, including resolutions, ordinances, deeds, contracts, and agreements; provide research to staff and the public on information needs, as needed
• Provide information and answer inquiries from officials, the public, and City staff on laws, procedures, and policies, such as the City Municipal Code, the Brown Act, and the Public Records Act; organize and assist with the filing of Statements of Economic Interests and Campaign Statements for candidates, office holders and City employees; record and file deeds and other documents requiring recordation; maintain and monitor agreements and insurance certificates; perform special projects as needed; and ensure the provision of official notification of public hearings, including legal notices in accordance with City, State, and Federal laws.
• Apply applicable policies and procedures in determining completeness of applications, records and reports
• Ensure that meeting facilities are properly prepared
• Maintain logs and manage Council and Clerk correspondence and responsiveness from other departments; receive, sort and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence
• Assist Deputy with the preparation and distribution of notices, action reports, letters, and other correspondence as required by action taken in the meetings
• Act as receptionist and primary responsibility for staffing the front counter; answer the telephone and assist the public and internal customers by responding to requests for information; issue, receive, process various applications
• Order office supplies, manage supply inventory; submit expense claims, pay bills as needed
• Perform general clerical work including filing, scheduling appointments, and processing personnel, payroll and purchasing information
• May maintain petty cash fund; accept payment of fees; maintain and process cash records

The Assistant to the City Clerk receives general supervision from the Deputy City Clerk or a higher-level position and may exercise direct or functional and technical supervision over lower-level clerical positions, volunteers, and interns.

THE POSITION

The Clinical Therapist I/II position for the ATC team will appeal to individuals who are interested in assisting participants and clients with enrolling into mental health services and getting the support they need.  We are looking for individuals inspired by challenges and opportunities presented in working with an engaged and active community.  The Clinical Therapist I/II will report to a Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Program Manager.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Conduct same day biopsychosocial assessments with both adults and/or children and carry no caseload;

• Will formulate a differential diagnosis concerning the nature of the mental health challenge;

• Create treatment plans and complete all necessary Electronic Health Record documentation;

• Perform screenings, linkage to resources and provide crisis interventions and crisis assessments;

• Work on a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery and ensure Network Adequacy;

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and must have excellent attendance;

• Collaborate with outside agencies to coordinate care for individuals seeking services.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for a special individual to serve as a Clinical Therapist I/II for the Children’s Full Service Partnership/Children and Transitional Age Youth (FSP/ C TAY). The Clinical Therapist I/II provides behavioral health clinical intervention and recovery services to assigned clients and their families; develops treatment plans and performs individual, group, and family psychotherapeutic counseling, routine and emergency assessment, crisis intervention, and related treatment services; manages an assigned caseload of adults, juveniles, and/or children; provides consultation to other staff, programs, and agencies related to treatment needs and plans; and performs related duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Provides individual, group, and family interventions, rehabilitation, and treatment services including counseling, therapy, case management, and referral and linkage to community services to a variety of clients including high acuity clients.

• Within scope of authority, assesses, diagnoses, and treats a variety of clients with mental health disorders; collaborates with clients and creates individualized treatments plans according to client’s needs and circumstances.

• Initiates and conducts individual, group, and family counseling and biopsychosocial therapy sessions utilizing a variety of techniques and modalities; provides case management services in the office and in the field.

• Performs routine and emergency intake evaluations according to Authority procedure; completes appropriate forms and documents relating to the intake process; and prepares medical and demographic case history for use in diagnosis.

• Assists clients and family members in understanding behavioral health diagnosis, contributing factors/causes, effects, prognosis, rehabilitation, and treatment.

• Works with clients to address stressors and barriers to treatment and/or social functioning; identifies and focuses on client strengths and personal resources to effectively engage and treat client.

Job Description:

The Town of Los Altos Hills is recruiting a college intern to work in the Community Development Department. The intern will split time between the planning and building divisions of CDD. The role for planning will include support of both short range and long range planning.  Interns working on long range planning will work primarily as a research aide for the Town’s 2023-2031 certified Housing Element implementation.  For short range planning and the building division support interns will be focused on day to day permit activities, but may also work on other more general department duties as needed.

• Conduct research and analysis of State Law and Fair Housing requirements for the Town’s 2023-2031 certified Housing Element implementation
• Conduct field investigations as necessary
