Details:

The City of Thousand Oaks is pleased to offer an opportunity to join the Facilities Division as a Building Maintenance Technician!

We are seeking a customer-focused, accountable, and results-oriented individual to conduct a variety of skilled building maintenance duties with competence and professionalism.  

Primary responsibilities:

• Perform repair and maintenance of City buildings, facilities, and grounds (plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, remodeling, painting, and a variety of craft work)
• Inspect and perform necessary repairs at assigned facilities for compliance with safety standards
• Install and repair piping for water and air conditioning lines
• Perform rough and finish carpentry for signs, decks, fences, gates, and related items
• Perform electrical repairs (replacing outlets, switches, lighting, and ballasts)
• Build and repair interior cabinetry (counters, cabinets, and shelves)
• Refinish furniture including stripping, staining, and varnishing
• Paint interior and exterior surfaces, equipment, and buildings; operate spray equipment and manual tools
• Perform concrete repairs; set rebar, pour, and finish concrete
• Install and repair flooring, baseboards, hardware, locks, and doors
• Complete routine documentation such as work orders, timesheets, credit card documentation, and incident reports
• Performs related duties as assigned

Note: This position is 100% on-site.  Work Schedule – 9/80 (Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with alternating Mondays off).  The position requires performing after-hours emergency work on an “as needed” basis and on-call duties which are rotated between staff.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Public Health Nurse Intern/Public Health Nurse in the Health and Human Services Department. This position provides the full range of public health nursing services including teaching, health assessment, and counseling services in homes, clinics, schools and community centers in connection with the prevention and control of diseases and adverse health conditions. Public Health Nurses are assigned to specific programs such as Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health, California Children’s Services, Child Health and Disability Prevention, Foster Care and communicable disease control. Public Health Nurse Intern: is a recruiting and training level class established to qualify candidates for duties as a PHN in Yuba County Health & Human Services Department. Under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas while pursuing a Public Health Nurse Certification. Upon satisfactory completion of the PHN Certification, the PHN Intern are eligible for promotion to the level of PHN. Incumbents who do not successfully complete the PHN certification as prescribed herein may be released from employment.

Public Health Nurse: is the entry level in this class series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas. As experience is gained, assignments become more complex and are performed under more general supervision.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting to fill two vacancies and to establish an employment list for the classification of Social Worker II. Under general supervision, incumbents perform moderately complex social services case work by providing a variety of services to County residents; conducting field visits; identifying, assessing and arranging alternative solutions to clients’ needs and obstacles; carry a moderately complex caseload; prepare and monitor plans; prepare court reports, depending on area of assignment; and perform related work as assigned. Example of Duties:

• Interview and counsel a diverse population of clients; isolate barriers to self-sufficiency; and evaluate need for services and/or make appropriate referrals to training, public assistance and social services programs.
• Perform case management of moderately complex cases.
• Conduct field/home visits, assessments, and reassessments as required to monitor and investigate progress and compliance
• Prepare and review court pleadings, depending on area of assignment.

Minimum Qualifications for consideration: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade

Experience: One year of experience in the operation of a transit vehicle.

License or Certificate: Possession of an appropriate, valid commercial driver’s license with passenger endorsement. Possession of a valid Medical Examination Certification. Possession of, or ability to obtain within the initial training period, a Verification of Transit Training certificate.
