We are looking for a talented and experienced professional to be an Executive Assistant to support the City Manager and Assistant City Manager.  We are seeking a candidate with experience supporting high-level executives within an organization. Someone with the ability to act on the behalf of multiple executives, handling communication, scheduling, and other administrative tasks in support of operations in the Office of the City Manager. We are seeking individuals with distinct skills in organizational capabilities, time management, presentation development, technical knowledge of the specific area of assignment, customer relationship management, excellent writing skills, data entry skills, travel and logistics management, and communication skills.

This position requires graduation from high school or the tested equivalent, and six years of responsible administrative work, at least one of which has been in support of management at the senior executive level OR a Bachelor’s Degree and four years of responsible administrative work, at least one of which has been in support of management at the senior executive level

Salary:  $44.47 - $56.76 Hourly, individuals in this classification receive a 3.5% confidential premium in addition to the base rate.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting an undergraduate or graduate-level City Administration College Intern for the summer of 2024. This internship will provide a significant opportunity to gain experience and exposure and accumulate skills that are used daily in various city government programs that make substantial impacts to the community. These programs are in the areas of the City Clerks office, emergency management, economic development, public information and outreach, and other municipal administration programs and services.
 
The City Administration Intern will perform a variety of functions under the direction of the City Administrator and supervision of the Assistant to the City Administrator.

VOLUNTEER WORK SCHEDULE 
Internships can start as early as May 31, 2024 and end as late as September 30, 2024. 
 
This paid internship is offered at 15 - 25 hours per week with flexible scheduling. The selected Intern may request a schedule of their choice during standard work hours as described below. The office start and end date of the internship will be determined at the time of hire. Work hours are generally Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 5:00pm.
