The Salinas Fire Department is accepting applications for the temporary position Fire Prevention Aide. This position may be required to work evenings, weekends or holidays for the purpose of conducting inspections or public education activities. This is a non-benefited position. Schedule and flexibility may vary based on the needs of the hiring authority. Temporary employees may not exceed a maximum of 25 hours per week and 1000 hours in a fiscal year (fiscal year runs from July 1 – June 30).
NOTE: This recruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list for current and future vacancies. This position may be assigned to work alone at night; work any assigned shift, holidays and weekends. Any prospective candidate will need to pass a background investigation before being hired by the Salinas Police Department.
The Pubic Service Assistant II (PSA) will perform a wide variety of general clerical and administrative duties in support of the Fremont Fire Prevention Bureau. In addition, the incumbent will conduct basic community surveys in support of the Division’s enforcement of hazardous material regulations and pertinent California Fire Code (CFC) sections. A City vehicle will be provided for field-related activities. This temporary assignment is scheduled to work up to 20 hours per week, with the duration of employment dependent on funding.
