The City of Simi Valley is recruiting for two Assistant Public Works Directors as a result of one retirement and the establishment of a second Assistant Director position. One Assistant Director will be responsible for engineering and environmental compliance, and the second will be responsible for waterworks operations, sanitation operations, and maintenance operations. The Police Officer Trainee is the entry-level position for those who have not yet attended the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified training academy. The academy is a six month long process and the first step in your law enforcement career. After successful completion of the academy, officers perform a variety of law enforcement duties to protect life and property in accordance with applicable laws.

Trainee's starting salary is $29.50 hourly (while attending the academy), plus excellent benefits.

Upon successful completion of the Police Academy, promotion to Police Officer and salary increase to $33.71. In addition, officers receive pay incentives such as educational pay and POST Intermediate or Advanced Certification pay. The possibilities are endless!

• Upon passing a written examination, candidates will be contacted through email to complete a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ). 
• Candidates who complete PHQ's in an appropriate and timely manner will be invited for an oral interview with Background Detectives and placed on an eligibility list based on interview ranking.
• Top Candidates will undergo a thorough background investigation including a medical, psychological, polygraph, and drug/alcohol screening.
• A Physical Agility testing will include:
  • Phase I:
    • 99 Yard Obstacle Course (time limit 25 seconds).
    • Body Drag (165 pounds) (time limit 14 seconds).
    • Chain Link Fence (time limit 10 seconds).
    • Solid Fence (time limit 13.5 seconds).
    • One Mile Run (time limit 10 minutes).
• Chief's Final Oral Interview.
