MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is completion of 60 college semester units. Previous volunteer or paid experience in a law enforcement support area is desirable.
 
Other requirements include:

• Must be free from any disqualifications for employment, including felony convictions.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law.
• Must be 21 years of age or older at time of appointment.
• Must be fingerprinted for purposes of search of local, state, and national fingerprint files to disclose a criminal record.
• Must be of good moral character, as determined by a thorough background investigation.
• Must be a high school graduate, pass the General Education Development Test or other high school equivalency test approved by the State Department of Education that indicates high school graduation level, pass the California High School Proficiency Examination, or have attained a two-year, four-year, or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
• Must be found to be free from any physical, emotional, or mental condition, including bias against race or ethnicity, gender, nationality, religion, disability, or sexual orientation, that might adversely affect the exercise of the powers of a peace officer.
• Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. 
• Must be able to meet physical, psychological and background standards. 
• Must be willing to work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts. 
• Must be able to obtain required POST certification and maintain firearms qualification.

If you are unable to attend the City of Berkeley exam dates, you may register and take your exams with The Academy. The Academy charges a non-refundable materials fee of $10 for the written exam, $25 for the practice PAT, and $100 for the official PAT. After taking the exams and receiving passing scores, please attach your scores to your application.

POST will not authorize you to take the exam within 30 calendar days of having taken your last POST written exam. Please refer to the POST website for additional information.

Applicants may waive the written exam only by submitting a California POST Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) T-score of 48 points or higher. We will accept California POST T-scores from other agencies provided the test was taken no more than one year prior to the date of application. Applicants must submit, on agency letterhead, a letter that states that the individual has taken the California PELLETB written exam. The letter must contain the total T-score and the date of the test. For information on where the PELLETB test is offered, please visit www.theacademy.ca.gov/tests.

Applicants may waive the performance exam only by submitting a California POST physical agility certificate, known as the Work Sample Test Battery (WSTB), with a score of 325 or higher.  The 1.5-mile run is not a requirement.  The test should not be dated no more than one year prior to the date of application.

Tests may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include, but are not necessarily limited to, typing, math, reading, writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency, or any other job-related knowledge, skill, ability or qualification. This position performs a variety of professional administrative and confidential support functions for the Assistant General Manager and his/her staff. Makes copies of correspondence or other printed materials.

Prepares outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail and faxes.

Within budget, orders and maintains supplies and arranges for equipment maintenance.

Provides support or backup to the Receptionist, other Administrative Assistants, and Executive Assistant as needed. Participates in Administrative Assistants meetings. 

Assists in coordinating the monthly Agenda Packet materials for the Commission.

Maintains the business unit SharePoint workspace and associated systems, including business web page.

Develops, maintains, and administers a regulatory tracking system to support agency regulatory requirements.

Develops, prepares, and administers Agency contracts and agreements, including the development of contract templates, tracking of contract records in the Agency records-keeping system, and processing various contractual requirements.

Assist with the development and preparation of Agency staff reports and resolutions, including supporting documents.

Provide support for Agency contract administration functions, including tracking, storage, review, and validation of agency contracts and agreements.

May prepare or review expense reports, check requests, and purchase requisitions.

May perform other duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and a minimum of three years related administrative experience supporting a high-level manager and his/her staff; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES 
Knowledge:

The Dixon Fire Department is opening their first Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit position for someone to attend the Fire Academy in August 2024. The "Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit" is an entry-level classification designed for recruits with a current paramedic license to gain firefighting, fire rescue, and fire prevention skills and training necessary through an accredited Fire Academy. Fremont Police Department is the law enforcement agency for the City of Fremont, California. As of 2024, the department consists of over 300 staff, of which more than 200 are sworn personnel, and more than 100 are professional staff.  Fremont Police Department was first established under the direction of Chief Richard E. Condon on July 1, 1958. At that time, it was staffed by one Lieutenant, three Sergeants, two investigators, one juvenile officer, 17 patrol officers, a secretary, and a clerk. THE POSITION: 

The City of San Pablo is actively recruiting for a Community Services Coordinator I/II position to plan, organize, and direct services and programs within the Community Services Department for our senior population, volunteer programs and city-wide special events. Our senior programs provide opportunities for adults 50 years of age and older, to engage in active and healthy programming. The Church Lane Senior Center hosts a congregate lunch program, numerous senior focused special events, weekday door-to-door transportation service (managed by a different full-time coordinator) and drop- in programs and classes. The city hosts 10-12 city-wide special events each year that include family dances, spring egg hunt, Cinco de Mayo celebration, Movies Under the Stars, 4th of July Multi-Cultural celebration, Halloween, Veterans Day and a Winter Wonderland Festival. The Dixon Fire Department is looking to fill a full-time vacancy for a Fire Captain and to establish an eligibility list for any future vacancies. A Dispatcher II is a civilian employee of the Police Department who performs a variety of tasks in the Department’s Support Services Division. The Dispatcher II acts as the Department’s primary dispatcher, receiving and relaying incoming calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance; dispatching police units; operating a variety of telecommunications equipment including radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch systems; status monitoring, records and file maintenance in a computer-aided environment; and entry level dispatch training. A Dispatcher II may be assigned to work various hours, shifts, holidays, weekends and overtime.

Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: prioritize requests for service based upon available resources, receive radio requests and handle accordingly, type, process and file a wide variety of reports and materials including memos, letters, complaints, declarations, warrants, citations, crime and traffic reports.  Assists Department personnel and the public in person and by phone performing record checks, collecting fees and mailing requested reports to outside agencies in accordance with established regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Have a combination of education and work experience, including a minimum of 1 year of dispatch work; general office work involving typing of varied materials, public contact, general filing and basic record keeping; type at least 40 wpm (net).  Have knowledge of business English, spelling; modern office practices and procedures; record keeping. Ability to dispatch police units quickly and effectively; work under pressure; exercise independent judgment; work with minimal supervision; make sound decisions in emergency situations; learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routine; write English legibly; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; operate computer-aided dispatch system, 911 emergency telephone, and other multi-line telephone systems, various law enforcement telecommunications systems, radio console with headsets and handsets, computer keyboards, cameras, intercoms, security. Willingness to work varying shifts and radio dispatching skills.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The City of Pleasant Hill offers a competitive compensation and benefits program.

• Salary:  $6,538 to $8,468 per month. Placement within the range depends on experience and qualifications.  
• Medical Benefits: Choice of coverage with Kaiser or Blue Shield. The City pays 80% of monthly premiums at each coverage level. SELECTION PROCESS

The Dixon Police Department is opening two positions for a Police Recruit to attend the Police Academy in July of 2024. The “Police Recruit” classification at the City of Dixon Police Department provides a unique opportunity for candidates to be sponsored through a P.O.S.T. certified basic academy during regular academy hours and any other scheduled departmental and academy exercise and activities.  Upon successfully completing the academy, Police Recruits shall be advanced to Police Officers and immediately begin the field training program to prepare them to function as solo officers.

THE POSITION

Rocklin Police Officers perform law enforcement and crime prevention duties involved in the protection of life and property; perform traffic control and enforce state and local traffic regulations; perform a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of law enforcement services and activities; and perform related duties as assigned. An example of duties are:

• Assumes responsibility for the preservation of the public peace and the protection of life and property by preventing crime and enforcing all laws.
• Patrols an assigned area in an automobile, other vehicle, or on foot for the purpose of preventing criminal activity and enforcing traffic laws and regulations; issues citations and makes arrests as necessary; responds to calls for protection of life and property and performs enforcement duties.

• Directs traffic and/or performs crowd control during special events and in emergency situations.
• Perform field training officer duties as assigned.
• Coordinates and cooperates with outside agencies, other law enforcement agencies, and organizations to provide information or assistance as needed.

• Actively develops and fosters community partnerships and demonstrates integrity and professionalism within the organization and community.
• Represents the City and the department in a courteous, professional manner

Current employment as a full-time, sworn peace officer in a California POST participating law enforcement department or agency AND one (1) year of full-time experience as a sworn law enforcement officer in a California POST participating law enforcement department or agency;

OR

Current employment as a full-time, sworn peace officer in another state AND one (1) year of fulltime experience as a sworn law enforcement officer AND possess a Basic Course Waiver from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
• Possession of a POST Basic Certificate or possession of a Basic Course Waiver from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).

Working Conditions

Must be 21 years of age at time of appointment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law. Candidates must pass a thorough background investigation.

Must be willing to work emergencies as well as evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Must meet physical, psychological, and background standards established by POST as well as ongoing peace officer requirements pursuant to federal, state, and local legislation. This classification requires wearing respiratory protective equipment at times. When assigned to such work, facial hair must be shaven when it interferes with the safe fitting of respiratory protective equipment. This classification functions as a peace officer within the authority and limits of California Penal Code Sections 830.1(a) and 832.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants will be screened against the minimum requirements. Candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be invited to attend a Physical Ability Test (PAT).

Those who receive a passing score on the PAT will be invited to a Structured Oral Examination.

Depending on the number of applications received, additional screening may be conducted.
