THE POSITION 

Under immediate supervision (Parks Maintenance Worker I) or general supervision (Parks Maintenance Worker II), performs semi-skilled to skilled maintenance, repair, and construction work assigned to the parks division; operates maintenance and construction tools and equipment; performs a variety of maintenance tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Parks Maintenance Worker I: This is the entry level class in the Maintenance Worker series. This class is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to workers in this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or non directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Parks Maintenance Worker II: This is the full journey level class within the Maintenance Worker series. This class is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker I by the assignment of the full range of duties assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level.

Representative Duties

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1. Handle complaints and answer questions from the public.
2. Perform general electrical, painting, plumbing and carpentry work as needed.
3. Make minor adjustments on service equipment; maintain tools and equipment in working order.
4. Oversee the work of community service workers.
5. Maintain logs of daily activities.
6. Assist in other areas as needed.
7. Perform related duties as required.
8. Inspect park grounds, structures, medians and related facilities for safety, appearance, and vandalism; remove graffiti from park surfaces.
9. Clean and clear park grounds, facilities, structures and playing fields of debris and potentially dangerous conditions; set up park for special events.
10. Plant, mow, prune, and maintain turf, trees, shrubs, and plants; clear sites of weeds.
11. Perform a wide variety of semi-skilled tasks in the construction and repair of park and community facilities.
12. Install, maintain, repair, and program irrigation systems.
13. Operate grounds maintenance equipment as well as a variety of hand and power tools.
14. Apply pesticide, herbicide, and other pest management treatments.

QUALIFICATIONS

Parks Maintenance Worker I

Education/Training:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

One year of experience in construction or maintenance work is desirable.

Parks Maintenance Worker II

EXAMINATION PROCESS   Those who meet the employment qualifications and whose strengths and background most closely match the needs of the position will be contacted through the CalOpps email system and invited to an Interview Panel test.  Candidates who achieve a passing score on the Interview Panel will be certified on an Employment List, from which the top 3 scoring candidates will be referred to the hiring department for a final selection interview.

The City of Auburn is hiring a Finance Technician in the City's Finance Department. This is a newly added position to the department and we are looking for an experienced and dynamic finance professional to join our team!

This position will primarily focus on payroll. Upon hire, the incumbent will jump right into learning the City's payroll processes and work regularly with human resources each payroll. In addition to payroll, the incumbent will perform work in various finance and accounting duties of the department.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Finance Technician works under general supervision of the Finance Director to perform a variety of clerical and technical accounting work; including assisting in the preparation, maintenance and processing of accounting records and financial transactions related to payroll, licensing, accounts payable and accounts receivable; assisting in budget preparation and monitoring; verify balances and adjust accounts; prepares various fiscal reports and provide information and assistance to City staff and the general public.

Duties include programmatic general accounting (general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll), support of budget planning and development, and preparing journal entries; assisting with the annual audit, and other administrative activities in the Finance Department. Providing information and assistance to City staff and the general public, and to provide administrative support to assigned supervisor.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the entry-level professional class in the Finance series. Positions in the class initially work under close supervision while learning job tasks and perform the more routine duties while learning City policies and procedures, and specific techniques and regulations related to finance. As experience is gained, duties gradually become more diversified and are performed under more general supervision. Positions at this level are distinguished from the Finance Analyst level by the performance of less than the full range of duties assigned to the journey level class within the series.

The Dixon Police Department is opening two positions for a Police Recruit to attend the Police Academy in July of 2024. The “Police Recruit” classification at the City of Dixon Police Department provides a unique opportunity for candidates to be sponsored through a P.O.S.T. certified basic academy during regular academy hours and any other scheduled departmental and academy exercise and activities.  Upon successfully completing the academy, Police Recruits shall be advanced to Police Officers and immediately begin the field training program to prepare them to function as solo officers.

THE POSITION

Rocklin Police Officers perform law enforcement and crime prevention duties involved in the protection of life and property; perform traffic control and enforce state and local traffic regulations; perform a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of law enforcement services and activities; and perform related duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by 30 college-level semester units from a regionally accredited educational institution;

AND

Current employment as a full-time, sworn peace officer in a California POST participating law enforcement department or agency AND one (1) year of full-time experience as a sworn law enforcement officer in a California POST participating law enforcement department or agency;

OR

Current employment as a full-time, sworn peace officer in another state AND one (1) year of fulltime experience as a sworn law enforcement officer AND possess a Basic Course Waiver from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
• Possession of a POST Basic Certificate or possession of a Basic Course Waiver from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).

Working Conditions

Must be 21 years of age at time of appointment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law. Candidates must pass a thorough background investigation.

Must be willing to work emergencies as well as evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Must meet physical, psychological, and background standards established by POST as well as ongoing peace officer requirements pursuant to federal, state, and local legislation. This classification requires wearing respiratory protective equipment at times. When assigned to such work, facial hair must be shaven when it interferes with the safe fitting of respiratory protective equipment. This classification functions as a peace officer within the authority and limits of California Penal Code Sections 830.1(a) and 832.

ABOUT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Woodland Police Department is staffed with 72 sworn officers, 18 professional employees, and 8 part-time temporary professional employees. THE POSITION

The City of Woodland Police Department is looking for lateral officer candidates who are currently employed as a California peace officer, have two years of experience and possess a California POST Basic Certificate or are have formerly been employed as a California peace officer, possess a California POST Basic Certificate and have not had more than a three-year break in service as a California Peace Officer. ABOUT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Woodland Police Department is staffed with 72 sworn officers, 18 professional employees, and 8 part-time temporary professional employees. Our staffing is expected to expand in size as the City grows. The Department is managed by a Chief of Police, a Deputy Chief, 3 Lieutenants, 10 Sergeants, and a Police Records Supervisor. The Department has three Bureaus; Patrol, Investigations, and Community Relations. Police Officers are assigned to all Bureaus where they work in various capacities and teams.   Within the Bureaus are many specialty units including K-9, Traffic/Motors, School Resource Officers, Gang Task Force, Detectives, and Homeless Outreach Street Team.  There are a number of collateral duties available to officers including SWAT, Crisis Negotiations Team, Field Training Officer, Honor Guard, Arrest & Control Instructors, Firearms Instructors, Gang Resistance Education, and Training (G.R.E.A.T) instructors, Social Media Team, Recruitment, and Bicycle Patrol. The Woodland Police Department prides itself on being a service-orientated agency using a Community Oriented Policing model and Intelligence-Led Policing (ILP) strategy. The Woodland Police Department welcomes and practices constant community engagement, outreach, and activism. THE POSITION

The City of Rocklin is hiring Academy Graduate Police Officers to join the Rocklin Police Department. Academy Graduate Police Officers will join the department and begin an 18-month program to earn their Basic POST certificate. An example of duties that an Academy Graduate Police Officers will perform under close supervision are:

• Assumes responsibility for the preservation of the public peace and the protection of life and property by preventing crime and enforcing all laws.
• Patrols an assigned area in an automobile, other vehicle, or on foot for the purpose of preventing criminal activity and enforcing traffic laws and regulations; issues citations and makes arrests as necessary; responds to calls for protection of life and property and performs enforcement duties.
• Conducts interviews with victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects; searches crime scenes for evidence; collects, packages, and preserves evidence; testifies in court.
• Detects, pursues, apprehends, and arrests or detains persons involved in crimes or misconduct; confronts and arrests violent combative subjects; books and transports prisoners; serves warrants and subpoenas.
• Conducts preliminary or follow-up investigations; prepares reports on arrests made, activities performed, and unusual incidents observed.
• Directs traffic and/or performs crowd control during special events and in emergency situations.
• Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints. • Actively develops and fosters community partnerships and demonstrates integrity and professionalism within the organization and community.
• Represents the City and the department in a courteous, professional manner.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by 30 college-level semester units from a regionally accredited educational institution.

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
• Certificate of completion from a POST approved California law enforcement academy.

Working Conditions

Must be 21 years of age at time of appointment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law. Candidates must pass a thorough background investigation.

Must be willing to work emergencies as well as evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Must meet physical, psychological, and background standards established by POST as well as ongoing peace officer requirements pursuant to federal, state, and local legislation. This classification requires wearing respiratory protective equipment at times. When assigned to such work, facial hair must be shaven when it interferes with the safe fitting of respiratory protective equipment. This classification functions as a peace officer within the authority and limits of California Penal Code Sections 830.1(a) and 832.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants will be screened against the minimum requirements. Candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be invited to attend a Physical Agility Test (PAT). 

Those who receive a passing score on the PAT will be invited to a Structured Oral Examination.

Depending on the number of applications received, additional screening may be conducted.
