POSITION

Under general supervision, provides highly responsible administrative support to the City Clerk to assist with the day-to-day operations of the City Clerk’s Office. This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Work schedule is flexible up to 30 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provides administrative support to the City Clerk and acts as staff liaison in screening visitors, answering callers, handling complaints, and directing electronic communications to appropriate parties.
• Prepares and coordinates the publication, posting, and distribution of legal notices for public meetings and hearings; ensures that legal requirements are met for publication and posting of agendas and minutes.
• Provides assistance to the public and City staff by helping to identify records and information relevant to public records requests; ensures timely response to all requests and justifies any nondisclosure and/or ensures deletion of any portions that are exempt from the mandate of the Public Records Act.
• Receives and processes claims against the City, subpoenas, and summons; facilitates accurate and timely processing of legal documents such as agreements, contracts, deeds, resolutions, and ordinances.
• Administers records management program, including maintenance, protection, retention, and disposition of records in accordance with appropriate legal and operational requirements; provides direction to staff regarding records management practices.
• Maintains the electronic documents management system of all meeting minutes, ordinances, resolutions, contracts and agreements, County recorded documents, and other vital City records.
• Assists the City Clerk in Fair Political Practices Commission filings such as Statements of Economic Interest for City Council members, commissioners, and designated employees.
• Types a variety of materials, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature; performs a variety of administrative support tasks such as photocopying information, and maintaining records and files; assists with the sorting of incoming mail and various administrative support on an as-needed basis.
• Operates and answers the City phone line.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in communications or a related field is desirable. 

Experience: Some emergency or non-emergency dispatch experience is desirable. 

License/Certificates: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Terminal Operator Certificate within one year of employment. 

Special Requirements: Must be 21 years of age as of the date of hire; a United States citizen or meet citizenship requirements; and be of good moral character with no felony convictions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A Seal Beach Police Officer patrols the community based upon our Mission Statement, “The mission of the Seal Beach Police Department is to drive down crime and improve the quality of life for the residents and visitors of Seal Beach.” Our officers actively survey the city for trends to assist in the prevention of crime and the enforcement of law and order. Special assignments include: Field Training Officer, Detective Bureau, C.O.P. The City of Thousand Oaks is currently accepting applications to fill several part-time, hourly positions in the Library Services Department. The position will require working at both the Grant R. Brimhall and Newbury Park Branch locations.

Library Pages are typically scheduled to work 15-18 hours per week, which can include morning, evening or weekend hours.

Primary responsibilities:

• Shelve and maintain books placed on shelves
• Assist with unpacking boxes of materials, including unloading and sorting donations
• Assist with processing materials

Pay range for this position is $27.97 - $35.69 hourly, plus additional night shift pay, and amazing benefits!

• This position will receive a four percent (4%) cost of living increase effective April 2024
• The new pay range effective 2024 will be $29.10 - $37.13 hourly

Our Minimum Qualifications for consideration are:

Education:  Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in communications or a related field is desirable. 

Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible communications or dispatch experience; or two years of law enforcement support experience utilizing one or more of the following systems: California Law Enforcement Telecommunications Systems (CLETS), Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), National Crime Information Center (NCIC), and/or Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS). 

License/Certificates: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Peace Officer’s Standards and Training (POST) Basic Public Safety Dispatcher Certificate within one year of employment.

• A Physical Agility testing will include:
  • Phase I:
    • 99 Yard Obstacle Course (time limit 25 seconds).
    • Body Drag (165 pounds) (time limit 14 seconds).
    • Chain Link Fence (time limit 10 seconds).
    • Solid Fence (time limit 13.5 seconds).
    • One Mile Run (time limit 10 minutes).
• Chief's Final Oral Interview.

Education/Training: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited U.S. high school; passing score on the General Education Development (GED) test; or possession of a two-year, four-year, or advanced degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: Completion of a P.O.S.T.-certified training academy.
