THE POSITION:
This position inspects plans or buildings and construction for compliance with structural building codes, laws and ordinances and provides training and working lead assistance to other inspectors on structural matters as required.
LARPD is seeking a summer intern to support the Summer Youth Volunteer Program. Applicants should have the equivalent of one year of college credits completed toward a degree. Join the City of Berkeley's Planning and Development Department in its effort to protect the health, safety, and welfare of citizens by enforcing building codes and regulations. As a Certified Building Inspector I or II, you will perform skilled inspection work in the enforcement of building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, zoning and related codes and regulations that govern new building and housing construction, additions, alterations, repairs and use of existing buildings. This work includes resolving problems and complaints to final resolution.
The Position
The Management Analyst I/II position is responsible for performing varied technical, professional administrative and analytical duties in support of a broad range of the City Manager's Office's operations.
The incumbent in this assignment will support cross-departmental projects, administer assigned programs, perform research, provide budgetary analysis and serve as a liaison with the Mayor and City Council Members. Participation in communications activities, including marketing and social media use will also be a responsibility for this position.
The Position
The Building Inspector Specialist (Plumbing) enforces the provisions of the Plumbing codes by inspecting both new projects and additions and alterations to existing residential, commercial and industrial buildings; provides technical expertise and training in an assigned functional area; may be assigned to assist at counter or in development activities; and performs related duties as required.
