Livermore Area Recreation and Park District is currently accepting applications for Program Leader.  Under immediate supervision, performs routine support duties for child development services in Youth Services programs; assists children in activities; and performs related work as required.

Receives immediate supervision from higher-level supervisory staff and direction from lead staff. Exercises no supervision over staff.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This entry-level classification in the Program Leader series is responsible for providing child development services in Youth Services programs. Incumbents at this level are not expected to function with the same amount of knowledge or skill level as positions allocated to the Senior Program Leader level, and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.

1. Provides support duties for child development services in Youth Services programs; assists children in activities; prepares and serves snacks based on established guidelines; performs clean-up and food storage duties.

2. Assists in preparing instructional, craft, and other materials; participates in, and encourages, play activities with the children; may assist in providing tutorial and/or remedial activities in small groups.

3. Uses positive reinforcement strategies to maintain order and discipline within the classroom; handles disruptions as needed.

4. Opens, secures, and cleans program areas before and after program use; prepares program areas for scheduled activities and events.

5. Assists in the implementation and monitoring of District procedures with respect to participant safety.

6. May participate in staff meetings, family conferences, and other special meetings; observes and monitors family conditions and notifies supervisor of concerns as appropriate.

7. Assists with maintaining required and appropriate documentation, including observation notes, logs, and other records.

8. May participate in public relations, outreach, and community education activities.

9. Attends staff training, workshops, and courses as directed by supervisor.

10. Assists with District special events as needed.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

•  High School Diploma or GED, or currently enrolled in child development Regional Occupational Program (ROP).
•  Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is desirable.

Knowledge of:

• Child development services, operations, and activities.
•  Modern office practices, methods, computer equipment, and applications related to the work.
•  Principles and practices for providing high level of customer service

Ability to:

•  Learn policies, rules, regulations, operations, services, and activities related to assigned activities.

Licenses and Certifications:

Completion of American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED training within six months of hire and maintained throughout employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess: mobility to perform medium physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The classification supports indoor and outdoor programs requiring frequent walking, running, conducting exercises, and related physical activities. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, or tools and equipment used in assigned program area. Program activities may require sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; the ability to lift, carry, and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS

Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions. May be exposed to communicable illnesses, blood, and body fluids. Incumbents will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbents may be assigned an irregular work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and holidays.

LARPD is seeking a summer intern to support the Community Outreach Department.  Applicants should have the equivalent of one year of college credits completed toward a degree.  Candidates interested in learning about communications, content creation, and social media with a government agency will be given preference.  Interested candidates should complete an application online. The intern will be responsible for key deliverables while learning about special districts and the Livermore community.

Community Outreach Communications Project Plan 

The Community Outreach team is seeking a summer intern for a 10–12-week assignment.  The goal of the internship is to gain valuable experience capturing and creating content, assisting throughout the district.  

Key duties 

• Visit Summer Programs to Capture Video and Photo content 

• Draft Program Highlight and Promotional Social Posts 

• Edit Community Facing District-Wide Videos 

• Assist with District-Wide Communications including Email Newsletters, Website, and social media. 

Key deliverables will be: 

• Create two to three 30 second videos highlighting LARPD’s impact on the community. 

• Update District Parks and Facilities Guide for Website  

• Capturing photo/video content from summer programs 

What learning will occur for the intern? 

• Learn to effectively communicate the LARPD brand identity across various channels, including social media, website, and content creation, by maintaining consistency in voice, tone, and messaging. 

• Gain hands-on experience in managing social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, YouTube, Instagram) by creating engaging content, scheduling posts, monitoring audience engagement, and analyzing performance metrics to optimize strategies. 

• Learn website management by assisting with content updates, uploading new information, ensuring website functionality, and implementing best practices to enhance online visibility and user experience. 

• Develop skills in content creation, including writing engaging copy, designing visuals, and creating multimedia content such as videos, graphics, and infographics to convey key messages and engage the target audience. 

• Gain proficiency in video editing software to assist in creating and editing promotional videos, event highlights, and educational content for various communication channels, while adhering to branding guidelines and storytelling principles. 

Timing 

June-August 9th.  Interns may start and end later but need to be present for the core Sessions slated for the entire month of June, July and through August 9th.  

Work hours will be Monday – Friday, 25-30 hours per week during the 12 weeks of employment.  The pay rate will be $20 per hour.  All interns will be required to successfully complete a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and undergo a TB test as a condition of employment.

The Position

The City of Fremont currently has a vacancy for the position of Park Maintenance Worker I. The Park Maintenance Worker I performs routine maintenance and repair work in the care of parks, recreation areas and equipment. The selected candidate will be part of a work crew assigned to a daily work detail.

The Position

The Police Communications Call Taker (Per Diem) receives emergency and non-emergency call for service, performs technical support duties in police department communications, and performs related duties as required. The position requires excellent customer service and communication skills.

AC Transit is seeking a Market Research Project Manager II. Under general direction serves as the project manager leading a variety of complex market research projects, functions, and activities. Incumbents in this position provide actionable data-driven insight informing and aligning strategic business decisions with customer sentiment.

This classification is distinguished from other marketing and communications classifications by the assigned project management responsibilities leading District-wide, market research projects and studies of considerable size and complexity. Incumbents at this level are expected to operate with a high degree of professional judgment and independence, providing technical and functional direction to vendors, professional, technical, and contract staff.

REPRESENTATIVE FUNCTIONS:

Performs project management functions and activities and is responsible for the full lifecycle of the assigned market research projects overseeing scope, timeline, budget, and quality standards from the project’s inception to completion; manages the activities of outside vendors and contractors. Provides consultation and professional, technical advice to executive staff, management teams, and other District departments; represents the Department on various external committees and projects.

Prepares and presents a variety of reports on operations, activities, and special projects; presents findings to the Board of Directors, executive management, other District staff, and various public and private entities.
Evaluates and recommends professional consulting services for assigned projects; develops and disseminates Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Qualifications (RFQs), and Invitation For Bids (IFBs) and develops proposal evaluation criteria; assists in the negotiation, preparation, and administration of professional services and contracts; recommends and prepares amendments to professional services contracts.

Prepares, reviews, and maintains a variety of project-related information and documentation, including project schedules, Statements of Work (SOWs), status reports, detailing issues, risks, and deliverables; monitors agreements and projects for compliance with relevant codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
Attends and participates in professional group meetings and committees; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of project management and market research. Provides technical and functional direction to professional, technical, and contract staff and participates in the formation, planning, review, and management of assigned projects. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a field directly related to the area to which assigned. For the Market Research Project Manager position the following are applicable fields of study: business administration, sociology, statistics, market research, communications, public administration, marketing, or a related field. Additional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: Six (6) years of experience in the professional field required by the assigned special projects. The Market Research Project Manager position requires experience in developing and implementing market research, marketing, public information, or communications programs with an emphasis on data collection, market analysis, and detailing the customer journey or two (2) years that involved responsibilities at a level equivalent to the District's classification of Project Manager I. Years of experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a two for one basis; two (2) years of experience may be submitted for one (1) year of education).

THE POSITIONS

Under direct supervision, the Public Service Assistant II will perform litter/trash pick-up, barbeque maintenance, leaf/debris pick-up, and miscellaneous park duties in Central Park and other community parks.  The Public Service Assistant II will also perform related duties as assigned.
 
WORK SCHEDULE

The positions work up to a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week and may be required to work a regular shift that includes evening and weekend hours. These temporary assignments are limited to 999 hours per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
