The City of San José is recruiting for a Finance Applications Associate IT Manager (Enterprise Principal Technology Analyst) in the Information Technology Department. This position is responsible for the management and support of the City's enterprise Finance Management System, Revenue Management/Collection System, and Finance Reporting System. This position combines managerial and leadership responsibilities along with hands-on technical expertise to deliver day-to-day system operations. Key job duties are service level management, including service level agreements (SLAs) and Incident Management, as well as delivery of smaller projects and system enhancements. The Finance Applications Associate IT Manager is also responsible for resource and performance management of the Finance Applications IT Team.

This position requires leadership skills and the ability to take the initiative and lead others. We are seeking an individual who is willing to adapt to an ever-changing environment.

The ideal candidate should have experience supporting an enterprise-level Finance Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system with solid business process knowledge and technical support experience for the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Account Receivable, Purchasing, Asset Management, Revenue Management, and Revenue Collection modules.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Providing technical leadership for the City's enterprise Finance Management System, Revenue Collection System and Reporting System.

• Leading and coordinating upgrade and enhancement projects for Finance's enterprise applications.
• Prioritizing and managing application development projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet customer expectations.
• Developing technical guidelines and governance framework to ensure best practices are followed.
• Assessing user needs to provide support and proactive service, including analyzing opportunities to use existing tools and workflows.
• Leading the day-to-day activities of advisory engagements for various projects, including process design, package implementation lifecycle support, and project reviews.
• Managing delivery and SLAs by guiding incident resolution, problem management, maintenance, and enhancement tickets escalated by the end users for the portfolio of applications.
• Developing relevant metrics, measuring and publishing the performance of the services provided for continuous improvement activities.
• Ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction for services and products provided.
• Working closely with all other IT management personnel in identifying, evaluating, selecting, and implementing specific information technology to support the business plans and IT strategies.
• Coaching, mentoring, and managing staff to implement, maintain, and support all related software, configurations, and workflows.
• Hands on experience with structured query language, Windows scripting, designing and developing reports using a variety of end user reporting tools, managing applications on Windows environments.

Salary Information: The final candidate's qualifications and experience shall determine the actual salary. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Enterprise Principal Technology Analyst (EPTA) classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.

The Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department is currently seeking to fill two temporary (Overstrength) full-time Community Activity Specialist vacancy in the BeautifySJ Prorgram. The position is currently funded through June 30, 2026. These two (2) Community Activity Specialist who will support the Encampment Management Team with the implementation of the no return/no encampment zone for encampments. In addition to this assignment, these two positions will assist the encampment abatement teams with weekly abatement activities including noticing encampments, referrals to partner departments for outreach, providing education on encampment setback areas. The position daily engagement with those residing in homeless encampments. Those selected for the positions can expect to work in-person, 40 hours per week with a typical in-person schedule of Monday-Friday.

Applicants can also expect at times to work on activities and events and may include evening and weekend work.

The duties of this position will consist of:
 

• Posting encampment abatement notices at encampments
• Engaging with those who reside in homeless encampments to educate them on the "no return zone" and other encampment setbacks

Under close supervision, Police Data Specialists learn to perform specialized technical work utilizing automated law enforcement information systems that lend support to sworn personnel and other department members. Duties include complex data input and retrieval processes requiring extreme accuracy; providing services to the community; and performing related work as required. O.S.S.D. operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

The Police Department provides a six-month training program. During a one-year probationary period, incumbents complete the training program and a subsequent six months of on-the-job training. This includes but is not limited to a demonstrated proficiency of all aspects of Operations Support Services Division's responsibilities. While on probation, candidate performance is rated on a daily basis by experienced Police Data Specialists, Senior Police Data Specialists and/or other supervisors. The workweek may consist of four workdays of 10.5 hours followed by 3 consecutive days off or five workdays of 8.5 hours followed by 2 consecutive days off. Each workday includes two paid 15 minute breaks and a 1/2 hour unpaid meal breaks. OSSD employees wear uniforms. This position is eligible for a uniform allowance which will not exceed $500.00 annually. Payments shall be made during the first two (2) pay periods of each month, in the amount of $20.83 per biweekly pay period. Trainees are expected to purchase and begin wearing their uniforms by the start of the 16th week of training.

Trainees are rotated through different units of OSSD and will be assigned to various shifts (Day, Swing and Midnight) and days off. New PDS's should expect to work night shifts, weekends and holidays. A shift differential of $2.25 per hour for Swing Shift and $2.50 per hour for Midnight shift is added to the base salary and compensatory time or pay will be granted for holiday work in accordance with the memorandum of agreement between the City of San Jose and the Municipal Employees Federation.

After training, PDS's bid for assignments, shifts (day, swing or midnight) and days off every six months in order of seniority as a Police Data Specialist. Senior employees typically select preferred shifts and days off and may have the option of a five day work week and/or alternate start times available to them. New employees may work nights, weekends and holidays for several years before they attain the seniority required to bid for more desirable assignments, shifts, days off and/or start times.

The City has standardized on a modern technology stack consisting of Windows Server, Esri ArcGIS platform, VertiGIS Studio, Safe Software FME, and SQL Server enterprise geodatabases. The City has an enterprise license agreement with Esri, and the Enterprise GIS team maintains a large Enterprise GIS server environment with public and internal-facing ArcGIS Server instances, complementary ArcGIS Portal and ArcGIS Online organizations, an SDE environment featuring a data catalog with over 1000 feature classes, and integrations with dozens of business systems. This GIS ISA position will function as a Geocortex/ VertiGIS developer and will be primarily responsible for managing the VertiGIS environment and developing mapping applications and workflows within VertiGIS Studio .

The ISA is a professional-level position in the IT professional management series and responsible for GIS system administration, database design, business system integration, application development, and implementation of large-scale enterprise projects. The position requires strong technical experience as well as the ability to take initiative and direct others. The ideal candidate must be a strong individual contributor that is able to take full ownership of projects, designing solutions in alignment with City Enterprise GIS standards and industry best practices and working at a hands-on level to build, implement, and support such solutions. The position demands proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues with limited resources. Advanced knowledge of the ArcGIS platform and Geocortex Essentials/ VertiGIS Studio is required .

The GIS ISA reports to the Enterprise GIS Manager. This position is responsible for programming that supports the development and maintenance of major applications used citywide. Key responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Administer and manage the VertiGIS Studio environment, including planning for and conducting system upgrades; applying and confirming patches; capacity planning and load testing; troubleshooting and resolving system issues; managing security policies, user accounts, roles, and permissions; and maintaining system documentation.
• Configure new mapping applications using VertiGIS Studio Web 5.x, including web map authoring, site configuration, and development of print templates, reports, and workflows.
• Develop customizations to VertiGIS Studio applications as needed to extend out-of-the-box functionality. Customizations may include JavaScript components within the application or custom workflow activities.
• Upgrade/rebuild existing Geocortex Essentials 4.x sites/viewers, workflows, reports, and print templates or ArcGIS Web Application Builder (WAB) applications on the VertiGIS Studio 5.x platform.

• Meet with business owners and end users to gather and document requirements and prepare and present solution design. Design, build, and deploy mapping applications and/or enhancements. Provide documentation, training, and support to end users.
• Establish and document best practices and standards for VertiGIS Studio applications and components and provide training/support to other City GIS staff looking to leverage VertiGIS Studio.
• Assist with administration of the City's ArcGIS Enterprise (ArcGIS Server and Portal) environments and enterprise geodatabases, and support other Enterprise GIS projects and initiatives as needed.

In addition, this position is part of a team responsible for providing GIS support in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) when activated .

DESCRIPTION:

The Department:

The Parks and Recreation Department provides planning, development, operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of the City's neighborhood parks, open space, water sites, recreation buildings, and trails.

The Position:

Under supervision, to perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in connection with the development and maintenance of City parks and recreational facilities.

As an As-needed Laborer, the successful incumbent will work in the department, performing routine maintenance on various parks and facilities including the city-owned cemetery. This position will assist in maintenance and repair using a variety of tools and specialized equipment. 

The Laborer position performs varied, unskilled and skilled manual tasks related to landscape maintenance and sanitization. Typical tasks include cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and buildings, loading trash and leaves in truck, litter abatement, mowing, edging, cleaning park sites, graffiti abatement, and operating a variety of hand/power tools and heavy equipment as needed. This position may require working weekends, holidays, and after hours. Must be able to read, speak, and write English at a basic level, follow written and oral instruction, and perform heavy lifting.  

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

The City of American Canyon Parks & Recreation Department invites energetic, creative and responsible individuals to apply for the position of Program Coordinator. Program Coordinators are part-time, temporary staff members who work under Recreation Coordinators to oversee and implement a wide range of recreation programming. Program Coordinators may be asked to provide recreation leadership, supervision, and assistance in various recreation programs, including day camp, youth and adult sports, special events and outdoor spaces.

This position is well-suited for applicants with experience as a Recreation Leader or Youth Leader, can work independently, and effectively lead staff members.

Being a Program Coordinator can include working shifts that are scheduled during early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays all year around.  This is a position that is considered temporary/part-time and employees are limited to no more than 980 hours per fiscal year.

PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKER I/II

Level I:  $5,102 - $6,202 per month

Level II:  $5,357 - $6,512 per month

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Public Works Department is seeking a full-time Parks Maintenance Worker I/II.  Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of tasks involving the maintenance, repair, improvement and cleaning of parks, park buildings, recreational facilities, and related areas. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

• Mows and edges lawns, ball fields, and other turf using edgers and walk behinds and riding reel, rotary, and flail mowers.
• Prunes, trims, shapes and manicures shrubs, hedges, and small trees.
• Irrigates using manual and automatic irrigation devices.
• Rakes, sweeps, and uses power blower or vacuum to clear leaves and debris.
• Weeds beds, prepares soil, and plants trees, shrubs and plants.
• Repairs vandalism to park facility plumbing, walls and paint.
• Cleans park rest rooms, walkways, patios, and related areas.
• Picks up litter and trash in parks, on and along street islands, and in other areas.
• Maintains ball fields including dirt areas, striping, and turf.
• Adjusts and performs routine maintenance of equipment.
• Installs, adjusts, and repairs sprinkler systems and related plumbing including valves, heads, time clocks, and PVC, galvanized and copper pipes.
• Maintains swimming pools including measuring chemical conditions.
• Operates trenchers, dump trucks, backhoes and loaders, and other tractor attachments to excavate, load, move grade or smooth dirt, materials, and trees; operates street sweeper to clean large paved areas.
• Prepares forms, mixes, pours and finishes concrete.
• Participates in emergency Public Works repairs and maintenance including work in other sections of the department.
• Works emergencies and special events.
• May mix chemicals and operate equipment to apply fertilizers and pesticide.
• Operates vehicles with trailers.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Parks Maintenance Worker I:

• Use and maintenance of basic hand and power tools common to the field.

Parks Maintenance Worker II: (In addition to the requirements of Parks Maintenance Worker I)

• Use and maintenance of basic hand and power tools common to the field.
• Plants, trees, and landscaping materials.
• Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in groundskeeping.
• Installation and maintenance of landscape irrigation systems and basic plumbing.
• Swimming pool operation and maintenance.
• Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in basic carpentry and concrete work.
• Operation and operator maintenance of a variety of power tools and equipment.
• Safe working practices including traffic barriers and protective clothing and devices.

Parks Maintenance Worker I:

• Operate a vehicle with trailer.
• Use basic hand and power tools common to groundskeeping.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
• Operate a variety of power tools and equipment.

Parks Maintenance Worker II: (In addition to the requirements of Parks Maintenance Worker I)

• Operate hand and power mowers, edgers, saws, pruners, tractors, tractor attachments such as back hoes and loaders, sprayers, trucks, blowers, etc.
• Prune, plant, and irrigate turf, landscape and trees.
• Install, repair, and adjust landscape sprinkler systems.
• Identify plant disease, nutrient, watering and related problems.
• Perform basic carpentry and concrete work required for vandalism repair and park improvements.
• Maintain sanitary and safe swimming pool conditions including sampling and adding chemicals, and maintaining gas chlorine systems.
• Mix and apply pesticides and fertilizers.
• Ability to perform or learn to perform traffic control setups necessary to complete daily assignments.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate a computer and work-related software.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Able to read, speak and write English
• Incumbents assigned to this job classification are subject to Department of Transportation’s Drug and Alcohol Regulations if they possess a Class B driver’s license and opt to utilize the license on the job.

Parks Maintenance Worker I:

• Previous work experience involving groundskeeping, horticulture, and irrigation is preferred.

Parks Maintenance Worker II:

• Three years of work experience involving groundskeeping

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or drawl.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and taste or smell.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
