INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TECHNICIAN II – HEADQUARTERS

We are seeking a customer service driven IT professional for our full-time Information Technology Technician II position, which will provide a variety of technical and information systems support and training throughout the library system.

Under general direction of the Information Technology Manager, this position is responsible for troubleshooting computer-related problems; installing, customizing, implementing and maintaining software, hardware and network configurations, and various systems; developing and delivering technical training related to the public services function; providing support for desktop computer applications, Internet/Intranet, self-service portals, web based applications, and email systems; participating in planning, designing, implementing, testing, and supporting new or modified automation systems; researching and reviewing new software and hardware; performing other duties as assigned.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently recruiting for two full-time Animal Care Services Officer. Under close supervision, incumbents enforces State and County laws regarding stray, dangerous, rabid, nuisance and unwanted domestic animals; investigates complaints; patrols assigned areas; captures animals; removes dead animals from public and private properties; assist in feeding and cleaning animal enclosures; assist with euthanizations and disposal of animals in a humane and prescribed method and performs other duties related to humane animal protection and control; performs related work as assigned including assisting the public with drop off, pick up and adoption of animals as necessary.  This is a working level class in animal control, responsible for enforcing applicable regulations in a limited public officer capacity. Successful performance of the work requires skill in dealing with the public in difficult situations as well as a willingness to handle animals that may be injured or ill.

Animal Care Services is a division of the Sheriff's Department.  Animal Care Services provides services for the unincorporated areas of Yuba County and is located in Olivehurst, California.  Animal Care Services care for lost animals, injured and abandon animals, and a provide variety of services that protect both citizens and animals. Most importantly, they keep lost pets safe and happy so they can be reunited with their owner or adopted into a new family.

The Position:
Community Service Officer I
The Community Service Officer I is an entry-level position assigned to the Field Operations Division of the Police Department. The successful incumbent will provide support to sworn Police Officers and departmental operations.
 
Community Service Officer II
The Community Service Officer II is a journey level position which provides a broader range of responsibility and requires a higher level of experience and training. The successful incumbent will provide support to sworn Police Officers and departmental operations and has the ability to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative.

The annual salary range for Community Service Officer I is $81,316.32 - $104,154.48. The annual salary range for Community Service Officer II is $92,026.68 - $117,321.24. This position will be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

TITLE: IT Operations Supervisor
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Exempt (Full-Time)

JOB SUMMARY: The San Mateo County Transit District is seeking a highly technical IT Operations Supervisor to join our team. Under the supervision of the IT Operations Manager, the Supervisor will coordinate the efficient and effective operations of the Help Desk team for the District, including work direction and supervision of Help Desk staff and coordination with other District information technology staff. This position is responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work; documenting and gaining approval for all help desk support procedures and system documentation; and assisting team members in answering calls, addressing service or escalation issues, and applying independent decision making to resolve problems or escalate problems to management. The IT Operations Supervisor develops regular reports on help desk contacts, ensures that service levels are met, identifies trends and makes recommendations for service improvements, and provides budgetary recommendations to management for service growth and/or improvement.

IT Operations Supervisor will work closely with various users in San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans), the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain), and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) and other departments and is responsible for managing all procedures related to the identification, prioritization, and resolution of end user help requests, including the monitoring, tracking, and coordination of Help Desk functions. The role will also contribute to problem resolution by giving in-person, hands-on support to end users at the desktop level.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Supervise help desk support staff’s daily activities ensuring timely and professional delivery of technical support for calls on computers, core software products, and related hardware peripherals.
• Plan, organize, and direct the work of help desk support staff, including Help Desk Specialists; schedule shift coverage; evaluate and document performance and recommend disciplinary action when necessary; and review staff work for accuracy and timely completion of assigned duties.

The City of Newark is looking to hire a Building Inspector in the Public Works Department. We are seeking a qualified individual to join our team with a strong background in construction and building codes, and a keen eye for detail and a commitment to ensuring safety and compliance in the building environment.

The Building Inspector I/II performs a variety of inspections on routine and complex building systems at various stages of construction, alteration and repair to assure compliance with approved plans; ensures compliance with various standards, regulations, ordinances, and laws; reviews plans; provides feedback; provides technical assistance at the public counter; works cooperatively with other City departments; answers general questions about the construction process; has a strong knowledge of construction standards; follows safety regulations with awareness at all times on the jobsite, and provides reports or issues corrective actions.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Any combination of education, experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education:

• Equivalent to a High School diploma
• Building Inspector II - An Associate’s degree or certificate in building inspection is desirable.

Experience:

• Building Inspector I - Four (4) years of journey level experience in one of the major construction trades or two (2) years of recent experience in building inspection or code enforcement.
• Building Inspector II - Three (3) years of recent experience equivalent to the Building Inspector I level.

License or Certificates:

• Possession of a valid California Class C driver license is required.
• Building Inspector I - International Code Council (ICC) Certification or equivalent certification(s) as a Residential Building Inspector or Commercial Building Inspector at time of hire is desirable and will be required within probationary period and throughout employment.

Duties include complex data input and retrieval processes requiring extreme accuracy; providing services to the community; and performing related work as required. O.S.S.D. operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

The Police Department provides a six-month training program. During a one-year probationary period, incumbents complete the training program and a subsequent six months of on-the-job training. This includes but is not limited to a demonstrated proficiency of all aspects of Operations Support Services Division's responsibilities. While on probation, candidate performance is rated on a daily basis by experienced Police Data Specialists, Senior Police Data Specialists and/or other supervisors. Those who pass probation receive a pass/fail proficiency examination. Upon passing the examination, incumbents will be promoted to the position of Police Data Specialist II.

The workweek may consist of four workdays of 10.5 hours followed by 3 consecutive days off or five workdays of 8.5 hours followed by 2 consecutive days off. Each workday includes two paid 15 minute breaks and a 1/2 hour unpaid meal breaks. OSSD employees wear uniforms. This position is eligible for a uniform allowance which will not exceed $500.00 annually. Payments shall be made during the first two (2) pay periods of each month, in the amount of $20.83 per biweekly pay period. Trainees are expected to purchase and begin wearing their uniforms by the start of the 16th week of training.

Trainees are rotated through different units of OSSD and will be assigned to various shifts (Day, Swing and Midnight) and days off. New PDS's should expect to work night shifts, weekends and holidays. A shift differential of $2.25 per hour for Swing Shift and $2.50 per hour for Midnight shift is added to the base salary and compensatory time or pay will be granted for holiday work in accordance with the memorandum of agreement between the City of San Jose and the Municipal Employees Federation.

After training, PDS's bid for assignments, shifts (day, swing or midnight) and days off every six months in order of seniority as a Police Data Specialist. Senior employees typically select preferred shifts and days off and may have the option of a five day work week and/or alternate start times available to them. New employees may work nights, weekends and holidays for several years before they attain the seniority required to bid for more desirable assignments, shifts, days off and/or start times.

The City has standardized on a modern technology stack consisting of Windows Server, Esri ArcGIS platform, VertiGIS Studio, Safe Software FME, and SQL Server enterprise geodatabases. The City has an enterprise license agreement with Esri, and the Enterprise GIS team maintains a large Enterprise GIS server environment with public and internal-facing ArcGIS Server instances, complementary ArcGIS Portal and ArcGIS Online organizations, an SDE environment featuring a data catalog with over 1000 feature classes, and integrations with dozens of business systems. This GIS ISA position will function as a Geocortex/ VertiGIS developer and will be primarily responsible for managing the VertiGIS environment and developing mapping applications and workflows within VertiGIS Studio .

The ISA is a professional-level position in the IT professional management series and responsible for GIS system administration, database design, business system integration, application development, and implementation of large-scale enterprise projects. The position requires strong technical experience as well as the ability to take initiative and direct others. The ideal candidate must be a strong individual contributor that is able to take full ownership of projects, designing solutions in alignment with City Enterprise GIS standards and industry best practices and working at a hands-on level to build, implement, and support such solutions. The position demands proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues with limited resources. Advanced knowledge of the ArcGIS platform and Geocortex Essentials/ VertiGIS Studio is required .

The GIS ISA reports to the Enterprise GIS Manager. This position is responsible for programming that supports the development and maintenance of major applications used citywide. Key responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Administer and manage the VertiGIS Studio environment, including planning for and conducting system upgrades; applying and confirming patches; capacity planning and load testing; troubleshooting and resolving system issues; managing security policies, user accounts, roles, and permissions; and maintaining system documentation.
• Configure new mapping applications using VertiGIS Studio Web 5.x, including web map authoring, site configuration, and development of print templates, reports, and workflows.
• Develop customizations to VertiGIS Studio applications as needed to extend out-of-the-box functionality. Customizations may include JavaScript components within the application or custom workflow activities.
• Upgrade/rebuild existing Geocortex Essentials 4.x sites/viewers, workflows, reports, and print templates or ArcGIS Web Application Builder (WAB) applications on the VertiGIS Studio 5.x platform.

• Meet with business owners and end users to gather and document requirements and prepare and present solution design. Design, build, and deploy mapping applications and/or enhancements. Provide documentation, training, and support to end users.
• Establish and document best practices and standards for VertiGIS Studio applications and components and provide training/support to other City GIS staff looking to leverage VertiGIS Studio.
• Assist with administration of the City's ArcGIS Enterprise (ArcGIS Server and Portal) environments and enterprise geodatabases, and support other Enterprise GIS projects and initiatives as needed.

In addition, this position is part of a team responsible for providing GIS support in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) when activated .

THE POSITION:  

Under general supervision, the Shelter Volunteer Coordinator assists in the planning, organization, implementation and review of the Animal Care Volunteer Program; assists with recruiting, training, scheduling and evaluation of volunteer staff; performs community liaison functions, coordinates public relations activities; humane education programs and performs related work as required.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a volunteer coordinator working in an animal shelter. The candidate will have experience handling shelter animals and be able to train volunteers how to safely handle animals. The candidate will have experience in volunteer program development as well as the ability to analyze volunteer program data for retention. The ideal candidate will have some experience using the Chameleon software for animal management.  

Essential Duties

What you will do:   

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
 
Recruits, interviews, recommends, orients, trains and evaluates volunteers; schedules their daily work assignments and activities to assure maximum program coverage and effectiveness;
 
Ensures that all departmental procedures are followed.
 
Under direction from the Animal Services Administrator, responds to volunteer complaints and conflicts that may arise.
 
Maintains a system for tracking volunteer program hours, schedules, skills and abilities, as well as performance measures.
 
Maintains and physically organizes volunteer work areas, files and records.
 
Prepares annual report on volunteer hours and activities.

Under general direction, develops and implements policies and procedures for implementing various volunteer, shelter and community programs; works with Animal Services Bureau Administrator to identify needs and opportunities for utilization of unpaid staff, and to design programs to fill those needs.
 
Designs and develops training and orientation programs in a variety of areas including volunteer program procedures, applicable laws and department policies, techniques for dealing effectively with the public, and the proper and humane handling of animals.
 
Assists with production and update of volunteer training manuals and volunteer job descriptions.
 
Coordinates ongoing training opportunities for volunteers to enhance their skills and keep them engaged; implements a system to provide volunteers with consistent recognition to increase volunteer retention.
 
Coordinates volunteer meetings and annual Volunteer Recognition event.
 
Coordinates and attends meetings with Volunteer Coordinators from other Animal Care Services and volunteer organizations in the Bay Area.
 
Maintains good communication with volunteer staff through personal contact, email and newsletters to keep volunteers apprised of changes, accomplishments and opportunities.
 
Represents the Bureau's various programs to the public and news media through public service announcements, conferences, outreach events and personal contacts with community leaders.
 
Provides Humane Education presentations to local groups, schools and civic organizations.
 
Assists with gathering and review of articles for volunteer produced quarterly "All Fur Love" community newsletter.
 
Coordinates the acquisition and distribution of Animal Services Bureau Volunteer uniforms.
 
Coordinates and oversees volunteer planning committees for events and fundraisers.

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
 
Experience: Two (2) years progressively responsible experience in volunteer program management, public relations, project management or similar field. At least one (1) year of professional animal handling experiences is highly desired.
 
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. Education and coursework related to Public Administration, Animal Behavior, and Veterinary Office Assisting or similar is highly desired.
 
License & Certificates: Possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver's License.
