BUILDING INSPECTOR II

DEFINITION: Under general and/or immediate supervision, performs building inspections in compliance with municipal building codes, zoning and other related ordinances; and performs a variety of tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. The City of Dixon is currently accepting applications for Building Plans Examiner I for one (1) full-time, permanent position in the City's Building Department and to create an eligibility list for future needs. This position organizes and conducts detailed plan reviews of common commercial, industrial, and residential structures for compliance with governing codes and ordinances; and provides technical assistance to the public and the inspection staff.
The Department is currently recruiting to fill multiple Building Inspector Combination (BIC) positions in the Building Inspection Division. A Building Inspector Combination reviews plans, issues permits, and performs field inspections for a variety of buildings and structures being constructed, altered or repaired to ensure compliance with building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical codes and related Federal, State and local regulations. The City of Hayward is seeking an experienced Supervising Building Inspector to supervise and coordinate the building inspection program of the Building Division. This classification is FLSA exempt and works under the general supervision of the Community Development Director. Exercise supervision over building inspectors, plan reviewers, technicians, support staff, and other staff, as assigned.
