DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Community Energy Department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Public Information Manager position in the Account Management, Marketing, and Public Affairs Division. This advanced communications position reports directly to the Deputy Director and will manage an existing Marketing and Public Affairs team.
The Public Information Manager will serve as a spokesperson for the Community Energy Department, managing internal and external communications. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in writing, community relations, marketing campaigns, and project management. Complex energy issues, such as PG&E’s Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) program, need to be clearly communicated to the public. This position will utilize strong industry experience to develop specialized marketing materials, webpages, and other public relations policies and procedures.
As the City continues to explore owning and operating electrical distribution infrastructure, the Public Information Manager will organize and lead the department’s community outreach and engagement efforts. Typical duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:

+ Writing and editing press releases for media outlet distribution;
+ Drafting speeches and talking points;
+ Arranging interviews for the department;
+ Assisting with logistical arrangements for press conferences, meetings, and/or speaking engagements;
+ Responding to requests for information from media outlets;
+ Maintaining and upholding the department’s public relations;
+ Supporting the department’s legislative policy campaigns;
+ Managing the department’s communications materials;
+ Develop and manage campaign budgets;
+ Coordinating with the City’s Emergency Operations Center when needed; and
+ Other projects and assignments as requested

Salary Information
The current salary range for Public Information Manager is: $116,923.45 - $143,110.06
The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience.
In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Public Information Manager classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing, non-pensionable, compensation pay.

Selection Process:
