About the Position:  This position requires the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.

The Accounting Technician performs a variety of routine to complex administrative and technical duties related to payroll and other accounting support duties. Top candidates have experience working with financial systems, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology and information systems.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• accounts receivable/payable,
• review, post, balance, reconcile, and maintain accurate and confidential accounting and payroll records,
• verify, post, and record a variety of financial transactions; prepare and maintain databases,
• maintain a variety of ledgers, registers, and journals according to established accounting policies and procedures; reconcile transactions and account statements; record changes and resolve differences; maintain the accuracy of accounting and financial records,
• report generation,
• produce journal entries to post payments to the general ledger,
• accurately prepare employee and vendor payments for retirement and other benefits; submits reportable compensation to CalPERS and process payments; prepare Federal and State tax reports.

Work Environment:  This position is part of Administrative Services at Midpen’s office in Los Altos, California.  Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule for this position.

Education and Experience:  any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: 

• equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level coursework in accounting or finance, and
• three (3) years in the maintenance of financial and accounting records
• experience in public sector finance, with the knowledge of principles of governmental financial recordkeeping and bookkeeping, is highly desired.

Licenses & Certifications Required:   Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

The TAMC Executive Director seeks a Finance Officer/Analyst serves a critical role in the financial operations of the agency. This position encompasses a wide array of activities such as financial planning, budgeting, cost management, maximizing revenues, fiscal controls, reporting, and auditing. TAMC manages six different trust funds which support its projects and programs. The Finance Officer oversees the recordkeeping for these funds, as well as tracking the grants that fund some of the agency’s projects. The position reports to the Director of Finance and Administration and works in conjunction with a part-time accounting assistant and a contract payroll processor. The Department:

The Position: 
Positions in this class are flexibly staffed, and are frequently filled by advancement from the Accounting Technician I class, or when filled through recruitment, require additional experience.  The appointing authority will approve appointment or promotion based on the employee's demonstrated ability to perform the full range of duties for the class and meet the qualification standards for the class.  Incumbents within this class are distinguished from the Accounting Technician I by exhibiting a higher level of judgment and independence in performing the full range of duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: 
• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; and
 • Completion of thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units from an accredited college or university including at least six (6) semester or nine (9) quarter units, which must be in Accounting or Bookkeeping; and
 • Two (2) years of work experience in Finance/Accounting (accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, or general accounting); and
 • Experience with  electronic spreadsheet and word processing programs; and
 • Experience with on-line financial and/or payroll systems; and
 • Ten-key by touch.

Desirable Qualifications:
 • Experience with PeopleSoft Financial or Human Resources/Payroll Systems.

Possible Substitutions:
 • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one (1) year of experience for fifteen (15) semester units.   (There is no substitution allowed for the requirement for six (6) semester or nine (9) quarter units in Accounting and Bookkeeping.)

Licenses:
 Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is desirable.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to join our purchasing division. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of proficiency with competitive bidding as well as cooperative, leveraged procurements. Working for Sunnyvale as a Senior Buyer will be both challenging and rewarding as the city continues to increase the number of capital projects implemented throughout the city. The centralized procurement division leads competitive bidding efforts for all goods and services, while the Senior Buyer will play a central role in leading complex public works and consultant procurements. Under general direction of the Purchasing Officer, the Senior Buyer engages in professional purchasing services including, but not limited to, purchasing supplies, materials and equipment, and contracting for trade and professional/personal services and public works projects while performing related work as required.
