 Creation of Bicycle Advisory Commission      

A Bicycle Advisory Commission of the Town of Danville is hereby established.  The Commission shall consist of six (6) regular members, one of whom shall be a Youth Commissioner.

Qualifications

All members of the Commission shall have experience, training, occupation, or education demonstrating a knowledge of and interest in bicycling.  Members of the Commission shall represent an inclusive cross-section of interests in bicycling such as recreational cyclists (road and mountain biking), commuters, families, seniors and youth, and merchants interested in cycling and cycling safety.

Powers and Duties

Advise the Town Council and Town Staff on matters related to:

1. Implementation of the Town’s Bicycle Master Plan;
2. Conditions, operations and safety of existing bicycle facilities and other non-motorized forms of transportation;
3. Review of proposed bicycle-related policies, programs, projects, plans, funding applications, and legislation;
4. Coordination with the public including bicycle-related organizations, the business community, and other local agencies to promote cycling projects and programs; and
5. Development and dissemination of bicycle awareness and education materials to the community.

Term of Office

For the initial five appointments to the Commission except the Youth Commissioner, two of the members shall be appointed to two-year terms and three shall be appointed to four-year terms.  All subsequent appointments shall be for four-year terms.  The term of the Youth Commissioner shall be two years.

Time and Place of Regular Meetings

The Commission shall hold at least one regular quarterly meeting.  The Commission shall fix the time and place of its regular meetings by resolution and may call special meetings as necessary.  All meetings of the Commission are open to the public and the Commission shall give notice of its meetings as required by law.

Absence from Meetings

If a member of the Commission is absent without cause from three (3) consecutive regular meetings of the Commission, that member’s office shall be vacant automatically. The Commission shall immediately notify the Town Council of the vacancy. A member is not absent without cause if that member’s absence is (1) due to illness or (2) unavoidable, and the member gives the Secretary of the Commission notice before the day of the regular meeting at which the member will be absent and giving the reason for the absence. 

Removal or Vacancy

A member of the Commission may be removed by a majority vote of the Council.  A vacancy is filled in the same manner as the original appointment.  A person appointed to fill a vacancy serves for the remainder of the unexpired term.  

No Compensation

Members of the Commission shall not receive compensation for their attendance at Commission meetings but are entitled to reimbursement for reasonable expenses actually incurred in the course of their duties, provided that such reimbursement shall first be approved by the Town Council. 

Adoption of Rules

The Commission shall adopt rules for the transaction of its business and shall keep a public record of its resolutions, transactions, findings, and determinations. 

Residency Requirement

All members of the Commission shall be residents of the Town of Danville.

Qualifications and Role of Youth Commissioner

The Town Council shall appoint a Youth Commissioner to serve on the Commission to represent the interests of Danville youth. The Youth Commissioner shall be a Danville resident of high school age. The Youth Commissioner shall have the same obligations and authority of all other commissioners.

Officers and their Duties

The Commission shall elect a Chair and Vice-Chair from among its members. The City of Dixon is opening a great opportunity for those interested in contributing to local law enforcement efforts for the position of Police Volunteer in the Police Department. Under the direction and supervision of experienced police personnel, volunteers will provide critical support across various functions, complementing the efforts of sworn officers and civilian staff.

This is a volunteer position intended as an educational and community service experience. In addition to serving a support role within the Police Department, this classification is exposed to a wide variety of law enforcement duties and will have different opportunities, based on level of interest, to support community policing efforts and activities.

Under the supervision of veteran Police Officer's the cadet experiences what it takes to develop important cadet skills. The San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division is seeking seasonal Election Vote Center Representatives (Office Assistant I) to assist in the upcoming March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election. Vote Centers offer in-person voting, voter registration, and additional services to the public up to a month before the election.
 
We are currently seeking dedicated and hard-working individuals for the temporary, full-time positions of Vote Center Representatives to be hired for the following duties:

• Use an iPad tablet to verify voter eligibility.
• Provide information about the current election.
• Guide voters on use of electronic ballot marking devices.
• Operate office equipment including Windows Laptops, printers, and iPad tablets.
• Provide in-person voter assistance to register to vote and cast a ballot.
• Issue ballots using Windows laptops.
• Maintain accurate files and records.
• Secure Election materials and supplies to maintain the integrity of the election.

The Elections Division is an exciting, fast-paced environment, especially as elections approach. Vote Centers will be open for two, four, eleven, and thirty days. Those hired can expect to work approximately 7 – 35 days including training and onboarding. Vote Center Representatives will work eight (8) hours per day in-person once the site opens. This assignment will include one setup day of at least four hours before opening the location. On Election Day, Vote Center Representatives will work from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. or later.  
 
The hourly wage for this position starts at: $22.97. These positions will require working overtime, including long hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays.  

• Authorized time worked more than 40 hours in the workweek: compensated at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the straight-time rate.
• Hours worked on a holiday: compensated at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the straight-time rate as provided in the Overtime Section of this MOU for their work group.

 
NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Qualifications

Several positions require fluency in Burmese, Cantonese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Tagalog/Filipino.
 
The position requires basic addition and subtraction. Vote Center Representatives must be proficient in the operation of a Windows computer, computer software, and applications. This position also requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, learn computer applications/software quickly and accurately, and serve members of the public.

Critical skills for all Election Worker Office Assistant positions include the ability to prioritize work, coordinate several activities, organize, and maintain accurate files and records, and understand and carry out oral and written directions.
 
Typical office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. However, these positions may require working overtime, including long hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays.   (Any authorized time worked more than 40 hours in the workweek shall be considered overtime and shall be compensable at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the overtime worked.

Generally, extra-help employees who work on a holiday shall be compensated for such time worked at the rate of one and one-half (1 1/2) times the straight-time rate as provided in the Overtime Section of this MOU for their work group).
