This position performs a variety of work in the monitoring of county, state and federal detainees and maintains the security and safety of inmates and staff.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs booking procedures, including receiving, booking and assigning prisoners to cells; performing body searches; fingerprinting, and photographing prisoners, etc.
• Maintains custody of prisoners’ private property.
• Maintains the safe and orderly operation of the County jail facility; monitors security cameras and door warning lights; screens and monitors visitors. Inspects all of inmates’ incoming and outgoing mail and telegrams.
• Inspects facilities regularly.
• Monitors the condition and activities of prisoners.
• Prepares prisoners for court appearances; provides transportation as necessary.
• Administers First Aid in emergency situations.
• Performs general office work, including but not limited to entering computer data, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Prepares and submits required records and reports.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

This position will perform a variety of responsible law enforcement and crime prevention work, including patrolling assigned areas, answering calls and complaints, investigating crimes, serving civil papers, and providing court room security; enforce all federal and state laws and local ordinances related to public safety and welfare.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs routine patrol duties, including but not limited to patrolling assigned areas of the County; responding to emergency calls and/or public calls for assistance; investigating disturbances, prowlers, burglaries, thefts, vehicle accidents and other crimes; checking buildings for physical security, etc.

• Administers first aid in emergency situations.

• Issues traffic citations.

• Serves warrants, subpoenas and civil documents.

• Apprehends and arrests suspects and violent persons; transports prisoners; seizes property and/or criminal evidence; interrogates suspects, witnesses and complainants; gathers and preserves evidence.

• Assists with County search and rescue operations.

• Prepares various reports on investigations, including arrest and unusual incidents observed.

• Assists with criminal investigations as required.

• Prepares case files; testifies and presents evidence in court.

• Works with other law enforcement agencies in matters related to the investigation of crimes and apprehension of offenders.

• May serve as special duty officer as assigned, including responsibilities such as serving on the narcotics task force, serving as Deputy Coroner, providing court security, serving as school resource officer, serving as K-9 handler, serving on gang task force, etc.

• Participates in other special projects and programs as assigned.

• Performs duties related to crime prevention and community relations.

• Performs general administrative work, including but not limited to attending meetings, preparing correspondence and reports, entering computer data, maintaining files, answering the phone, etc..

• Performs related duties as assigned.

POSITION

Under supervision the Pool Lifeguard performs, observes and ensures the safety of participants in recreational and organized swimming activities; maintains a safe aquatic environment and assists with daily activities and operations of the program; communicates pool rules; assist instructors with class preparation, inventory, cleaning of equipment and registration as needed and performs related duties as required. This is a temporary part-time non-benefited position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

THE JOB

Responsible for the safety, supervision, discipline, and customer service of all persons using the City of Live Oak Pool facilities.  Generally, works under direct supervision of the Lifeguard Supervisor or Parks and Recreation Director.  Must be willing to work other than normal work hours and be available to work as scheduled based upon the need of the department.  Must be able to attend Pre-season training, and successfully pass a lifeguard skills review.  Must be 15 years of age or older, and wear Department of Recreation staff swimwear.  Employee may be asked to provide assistance and/or accommodations to include participants with disabilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

For Lifeguards and Instructors: Possession of a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate (LGT) AND a valid CPR Certificate AND First Aid for Public Safety Personnel, California Title 22. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. About The Position:

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff-Lateral. Deputy Sheriff’s perform a wide variety of patrol officer and related duties required to effectively respond to and resolve the normal scope of peace situations, including the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, criminal investigation, report writing, crime prevention and suppression, case preparation and testimony, and providing information and assistance to the public and perform related duties as assigned. PART TIME STATUS:

This is a part-time, at-will, non-benefited position.  Work schedule is up to 40 hours per week during the summer season and is limited to 1,000 hours per year. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include:

Beach Lifeguards are responsible for marine safety protection.  Under general supervision, guards an assigned area of beach from a station; patrols a section of beach in a mobile unit; warns of hazardous conditions; rescues people in distress or in danger of drowning; answers questions and gives information pertaining to the beach and ocean environment; applies first aid to those in need; removes hazardous obstacles from sand and water; takes charge of lost children; advises regarding local beach and ocean-related ordinances, regulations, safety and conduct; maintains a professional and courteous relationship with the public and performs other related work as required.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

• 18 years of age or older (or high school graduate) on or before July 1, 2024 (proof required).
• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
• Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergencies.
• Ability to analyze situations and determine proper course of action.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to interpret and explain policies and procedures.

TRAINING PROGRAM

Acceptable candidates will be entered into the lifeguard training program. Fridays from 6-10 pm

Saturdays & Sundays 8am - 5pm

Candidates will be trained in all phases of ocean lifeguarding techniques and procedures.

A written and practical test will be administered on Sunday May 19, 2024 to those candidates who have successfully completed the lifeguard training program. Beach Lifeguards will be selected based upon their test results and their performance during the training.

Beach Lifeguard trainees are compensated at $16.54 per hour. Successful trainees who are appointed as Beach Lifeguards will then be compensated at the higher Beach Lifeguard pay rate. 

Candidates who are hired as Beach Lifeguards must be available for 40 hours per week for the entire summer season.  This requirement may be waived for extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

About the Position: 

Yuba County is currently accepting applications for the position of Building Inspector II/III. Currently we are hiring to fill at a Building Inspector III level within the Building Department and establish an eligibility list for the level II position.

The Building Inspector II position is flexibly staffed and is normally filled by advancement from the entry level Building Inspector I.  Incumbents which meet the minimum qualifications and demonstrate the ability to perform the responsibilities required at the higher performance level are promoted to the level II position. 

Building Inspector III is a stand alone position which performs complex, difficult and/or lead inspections and provides direction and technical expertise to staff.

Qualifications:   

Building Inspector II: Under limited supervision, this is the working level in this class series, fully qualified to independently perform diverse inspections. This is the journey level in the building inspection series

Building Inspector III: This position reports directly to the Supervising Building Official. Acts as a lead inspector providing direction and technical expertise to staff and performs related work as assigned. This is the advanced journey level in the building inspection series

Building Inspector II:

• Perform inspections, investigation, code interpretations, permit application intake, review and permit issuance, including record keeping and case management.  Also learn and apply zoning, land use, fire-safe and water quality related regulations.
• Inspect new and existing properties, and other building and construction elements for conformance to codes, regulations, plans, specifications and standards related for foundations, framing, electrical, plumbing and other structural and functional elements.
• Confer with and provide information to developers, engineers, architects, property owners and others regarding code requirements and alternative and County policies and procedures whenever possible, resolve complaints and problems, maintain close verbal and written contact regarding progress with the complainants.
• Lead inspections for non-residential commercial and industrial projects, new and existing.
• Perform above duties with limited supervision.
• Provide information to senior staff to prepare case violations for hearing; testify in court as required.

Building Inspector III (In addition to the above):

• Provide lead direction, training and work review to professional and technical staff; organize and assign work accordingly, set priorities and follow-up to ensure coordination and completion of assigned work; provide input into performance evaluation.
• Perform complex and difficult in nature assignments; respond to highly sensitive, complete or technical complaints; validate the nature of the complaint and recommend solutions.
• Independently perform the full range of the Building Inspector I/II duties.
• Implement new or modified policies and procedures and train/develop other staff as required.
• Make presentations to groups and coordinate public meetings.

**Signing Bonus Qualification Criteria:

• First Installment of $2,500, the candidate must apply, qualify for and be hired (e.g. first time appointment) by CDSA.
• Second Installment of $2,500, the recently hired employee must successfully complete six months of County service (achieving a "meets standards" or above on the six-month performance evaluation).

The Crossing Guard position is a temporary position, approximately five hours per day, two (2) hours in the morning and three (2) hours in the afternoon, Monday through Friday.  Crossing Guards work a school year (September through June).  Applicants must be able to work outdoors, have reliable transportation or ability to report to assignment consistently.

Crossing Guards work under the general direction of the Parking Operations Lead Community Service Officer with the Seal Beach Police Department.  Based on the needs of the City, a flexible schedule may be assigned for either a morning or afternoon shift or a combination thereof, or for specific week days, based on the availability of the Crossing Guards and at the discretion of the Police Services Manager.

ABOUT POSITION:

This position is a part-time, non-benefited position. Work hours may vary, and schedules can be up to 29 hours per week as needed. There are no guaranteed minimum number of hours per week. Hours of operation of the Seal Beach Tennis & Pickleball Center are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 9:30 pm and Saturday/Sunday from 6:30 am - 5:30 pm.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Individual will work primarily at the City’s Seal Beach Tennis & Pickleball Center performing duties including, but not limited to, greeting and supervising patrons, handling of payments inside the Pro Shop, enforcing rules and regulations of the facility, opening/closing the facility, removing trash, restocking supplies, and general court maintenance, including court washing, locker room cleaning, and overall security of the facility.

This position will also work periodically as staff for facility rentals at the City’s community centers for various functions such as wedding receptions, baby showers, and birthday parties. This position may also help assist with scorekeeping for Adult Sports programs, including basketball and softball.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

Ability to: Communicate effectively (both written and verbally); make good decisions; push, pull, drag, lift or carry equipment/supplies up to 50 lbs., lean, stoop, twist, bend and kneel in performance of job duties. 

Experience & Training: One year experience working for Parks and Recreation Departments or similar experience and general knowledge of tennis and sports is desired.
