Village Park Preschool is a play-based preschool program offered by the City of Burlingame Parks and Recreation Department. We offer 5 programs: Lil’ Sprouts (2 year olds), Cottage Kids (3 year olds), Playschool Villagers (3 year olds), Afternoon Owls (3 year olds), and Camp Treehouse (3-4 year olds).  The emphasis of the program is physical, social, and emotional growth in a child-centered environment. Activities are designed to foster a healthy child that develops an early love of learning. Definition: Preschool Site Coordinator

The City of Burlingame is looking for an enthusiastic, organized, creative, and responsible Preschool Site Coordinator. Under direction of a Recreation Supervisor, the Preschool Site Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Village Park Preschool ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. This role involves managing staff, coordinating programs, communicating with parents, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties

• Program Oversite
  • Coordinate with teachers and staff to ensure lesson plans, schedules, and classroom activities align with educational standards and goals.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of programs and make adjustments as needed to meet the needs of children and families.
  • Manage supply lists and shop for required materials.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
  • Lead a variety of activities including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, organized games, story time, music/singing activities, science, cooking, early writing skills, and interactive circle time.
  • Develop and plan activities for preschool summer camp
  • Change diapers and support toilet training.

• Staff Management 
  • Train and supervise teaching staff.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and professional development opportunities to staff to enhance their skills and performance.

• Parent Communication 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a responsive and professional manner.
  • Facilitate open communication and collaboration between parents, teachers, and staff to promote a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Send emails to parents with child and class updates.
  • Manage Village Park Instagram

• Administrative Duties 
  • Prepare monthly newsletter.
  • Manage Village Park Preschool Instagram.
  • Complete assigned paperwork, including timecards and incident reports.

• Safety and Compliance 
  • ​​​​​​​Enforce policies and procedures related to child supervision, hygiene, emergency preparedness, and security measures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and materials to ensure they meet safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Senior Solid Waste Supervisor in the Zero Waste Division of the Public Works Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Zero Waste Operations Manager and the Solid Waste Supervisor(s) on a daily basis to ensure that all operations are carried out safely and in compliance with environmental obligations. In addition, this role oversees the onboarding and recurring training programs for Solid Waste Workers and Drivers; interacts with the Division Manager to implement initiatives, policies, and procedures; and works closely to resolve customer service issues that arise at the council level.

The Senior Solid Waste Supervisor also works closely with peers across all operations to ensure consistent safety and operational standards and performance. Furthermore, this position leads the implementation of new routing and customer data management systems, participates in equipment purchase committees, and determines the staffing and resources needed to achieve desired operational goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is equivalent to graduation from high school and five (5) years of increasingly responsible journey level experience in integrated solid waste collection, diversion and disposal which included two (2) years at the level equivalent to the Solid Waste Supervisor class.

Other requirements include possession of a valid class "C" California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Candidates must be willing to work evening, early morning, holidays, and weekend shifts. Candidates must report changes in status of driver’s license.

We are seeking an innovative and proactive Building Official with a positive, forward-thinking perspective. The Building Official will manage all building division functions (building permit issuance, plan check, and building inspections). The position reports to the Community Development Director. The Building Official will assist in integrating the City’s vision, goals, and people strategy with the business strategy of the Community Development Department; managing, planning, and organizing Community Development services, programs, and operations; developing and implementing policy; crafting and accomplishing department and City objectives, goals, and performance metrics within guidelines established by the City Council and City Manager. The City of Newark is seeking an experienced Aquatics Programs Specialist who is well versed with the development and effective implementation of aquatic programs tailored to different age groups and skill levels, such as swimming lessons, water aerobics, lifeguard training, and more. The Specialist will work out of the George M Silliman Community Activity Center. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Review the existing swim lesson program provided at the Aquatic Center, utilizing the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program materials, with the aim of pinpointing areas that could be enhanced.
2. Evaluate the current swim instructor handbook and offer recommendations that align with program requirements; integrating relevant materials from the American Red Cross Swim Lesson Program and feedback from staff to create a more cohesive handbook for swim instructors.
3. Assess the current swim instructor in-service practices and propose a recommended training plan and schedule for management and staff. This includes organizing 2-5 in-service sessions with staff to review new information and establish a structured training plan.                                                                                  

• Evaluate Current Practices: Conduct an analysis of the existing swim instructor in-service practices, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
• Needs Assessment: Determine the specific needs of the swim instructors and the program as a whole. Consider instructor feedback, observations, and any deficiencies noted in performance evaluations.
• Training Objectives: Define clear training objectives that align with the goals of the swim lesson program and the organization's standards. These objectives should address areas such as instructional techniques, safety protocols, emergency procedures, and customer service skills.
• Curriculum Development: Develop a comprehensive curriculum for the in-service training sessions. Incorporate relevant materials from the American Red Cross Swim Lesson Program, focusing on best practices for instruction and program management.
• Training Plan and Schedule: Create a detailed training plan and recommended schedule that outlines the topics to be covered in each session. Ensure that the schedule accommodates the availability of staff and allows for adequate time to cover each topic thoroughly.
• Session Content: Structure each in-service session to include a combination of theoretical instruction, practical demonstrations, and hands-on activities. Provide opportunities for staff to ask questions, participate in discussions, and practice new skills.
• Resource Materials: Compile a set of resource materials to support the training sessions, including instructional guides, lesson plans, videos, and reference materials from the American Red Cross Swim Lesson Program.
• Feedback Mechanism: Establish a feedback mechanism to gather input from staff following each training session. Use this feedback to assess the effectiveness of the training and make any necessary adjustments to future sessions.
• Implementation and Monitoring: Implement the training plan according to the established schedule, ensuring that all staff members have the opportunity to participate. Work with staff to ensure they are monitoring staff performance and progress throughout the training process, providing additional support and guidance as needed.
• Evaluation and Continuous Improvement: Conduct a final evaluation of the training program to assess its overall effectiveness and impact on staff performance. Use the findings to inform staff of training initiatives and make continuous improvements to the swim instructor’s in-service practices.                        

     4. Collaborate with program staff to facilitate the implementation of the DigiQuatics software, specifically  focusing on the swim lesson program module to ensure its success and staff training opportunities.

    5. Support staff in addressing any needs within the swim lesson program to enhance its effectiveness and boost participant enrollment as required.
