The City of San Mateo Public Works Department is seeking an Assistant/Associate Engineer for the Capital Improvement Plan Division. Candidates should be highly motivated, experienced, seek professional growth, and desire to lead and support in the delivery and review of various City projects.

As an Assistant/Associate Engineer, you would support our department’s mission to operate, maintain and improve the City’s infrastructure. Public Works is responsible for the maintenance, repair, cleaning, and construction of sewer and storm conveyance systems, wastewater treatment plant, streets, streetlights, traffic signals, active transportation infrastructure, publicly owned parking lots and garages, pump stations, a major lagoon, and dams and levees. Our department also reviews plans and inspects the construction of public improvements to serve new private residential, commercial, and industrial developments, and administers contracts for the collection, disposal, and recycling of solid waste. Public Works is also responsible for the City’s review and management of right-of-way impacts associated with private development and traffic operations.

What You’ll Do:

The Assistant/Associate Engineer will help support efforts to accomplish short and long-term project deliveries, while sustaining the City’s mission, vision, and goals. The position is considered for the following field of interest:

• The Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Division’s key assignments include planning, designing, reviewing, and preparing detailed engineering plans, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, contracts, and related documents for a variety of capital improvement projects. Roles include project manager and construction manager, with duties that include leading coordination meetings, interfacing with construction contractors, outside engineering firms, construction inspectors, and other public agencies.

The Engineering Manager will provide and participate in critical team leadership in assuring that all engineering services, goals, projects and initiatives meet the high-performance standards of the Department and City. The City of Pacifica is a beautiful coastal community, just south of San Francisco with an exciting opportunity. We are currently hiring an Engineering Intern to join our team. This is a part-time, at-will, non-benefited position. Hours are limited to less than 1,000 hours per year.

The Position

Superior Court of California, San Mateo County is seeking highly qualified individuals to fill one vacancy for a Court Commissioner. The appointment to this position shall be by the judges of the superior court and shall be under the general direction of the presiding judge.

Pursuant to California Rules of Court, candidates must have been admitted to practice law in California for at least 10 years or, on a finding of good cause by the presiding judge, for at least 5 years.

The commissioner’s duties include the subordinate judicial duties set forth in Code of Civil Procedure Section 259 which include but are not limited to conducting judicial hearings in a broad range of civil proceedings which may include family law, making findings of fact in traffic, small claims, and criminal proceedings and performing other subordinate judicial activities as may be conferred by law or by order of the court. The commissioner will be expected to perform duties in all of the following areas: criminal law, family law, traffic, small claims, and a broad range of civil proceedings.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• Experience as a hearing officer, judge pro-tem, or mediator.
• Experience with trial and hearing procedures and with the rules of evidence.
• Knowledge of court calendars.
• Demonstrated ability to present statements of law, fact and argument clearly and logically in written and oral form.
• Ability to manage a courtroom in a fair, courteous and efficient manner so as to promote respect for the judicial process.

The Human Resources Department is seeking well qualified candidates for the position of HRIM /Workday Application Support Analyst II. We are seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to join our Human Resources Information Management /Workday team.

As the HRIM /Workday Application Support Analyst II, you will collaborate and consult with colleagues in various departments to understand business and functional drivers across all Workday HR modules. Your responsibilities will include hands-on configuration of Workday features, security, development of reports and dashboards, and provision of sound solutions to support end-to-end business processes. Additionally, you will assist with Workday tenant management, deliver exceptional customer support, and contribute to system testing and issue resolution.

Once job duties are learned, this position has the option of hybrid work, two or three days in the office and two days of remote work.

The base hourly salary range for this position is $56.47 - $70.58. Because the position is classified as "confidential" there is a 5% allowance added to the salary. This allowance has been added into the advertised salary range.

JOB SUMMARY: The Facilities Technician reports to the Assistant Manager, Facilities and is responsible for providing building maintenance services at the District facilities in accordance with established standards and procedures.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Perform regularly scheduled maintenance on all facilities according to manufacturers’ specifications and Standard Operating Procedures.

• Ensure all maintenance and repair activities are recorded, organized, and complete. Records must be readily available for reference, audit, and quality control.
• Collaborate with District departments to obtain work scope information, discuss options, collect job details and estimate labor and material costs relating to work order.
• Inspect and report on functional operation of buildings, grounds and related facility systems including: heating and cooling systems, fueling and lubrication systems, storm, plumbing, potable water, sewer and industrial waste systems, fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems, electrical power and lighting systems, in-ground hydraulic lift systems, bus parking designation markings, roofing systems, bus exhaust evacuation systems, roll up access doors and roll up fire doors, and environmental protection systems.
• Maintain clear and accurate records of maintenance tasks performed and status of District facilities.
• Develop and maintain a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools.
• Maintain open communications with other departments; develop and maintain effective internal relationships. Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Must participate in weekend and holiday on-call rotation.
• Safely operate a variety of maintenance vehicles.
• Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect one’s self, fellow employees and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION: Works under the general supervision of the Assistant Manager, Facilities, who establishes goals and objectives and evaluates performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Three (3) years full-time industrial building/facility maintenance experience, or a combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
• Must have valid California driver’s license with a safe driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• General experience troubleshooting electrical systems, heating and cooling (HVAC) systems, plumbing, and hydraulic systems.
• Able to work safely in different kinds of weather conditions and workspace environments.
• Able to safely lift 50lbs and climb/work on ladders and other equipment.

The City of Foster City is looking for an experienced Associate Engineer with a passion for public service. This position will provide exposure to large-scale projects and community engagement and performs engineering work on the following types of capital improvement projects:  buildings, parks, levee, storm water systems, lagoon, streets, traffic signals, water distribution systems, and wastewater collection systems.

We are seeking highly skilled individuals with the competence and experience to address challenges with confidence and professionalism. Individuals that demonstrates skills in any of the following areas: land development, transportation/traffic engineering, and storm system management. Independently management for the design and constriction of capital improvement projects and AutoCAD experience are highly desirable. 

Education and Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a directly related field, and three (3) years of professional experience in civil engineering work including project design, plan checking, and project management.

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver’s license upon appointment.
• Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California, desirable.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications and supplemental questionnaires received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Public Works department will make the hiring decision.
