Under direction of the Fire Chief and Company Officer, this individual will perform specialized fire service operations including fire apparatus operator and fire prevention specialist. The primary role of this position is to serve in fire prevention activities including, fire inspections, code enforcement, plan review, regulations pertaining to fire protection, fire investigation, public education and community outreach. This position will also require the operation and maintenance of fire apparatus, responding to calls for service and filling in Fire Engineer vacancies.

The Salinas Fire Department is accepting applications for the temporary position Fire Prevention Aide. This position may be required to work evenings, weekends or holidays for the purpose of conducting inspections or public education activities. This is a non-benefited position. Schedule and flexibility may vary based on the needs of the hiring authority. Temporary employees may not exceed a maximum of 25 hours per week and 1000 hours in a fiscal year (fiscal year runs from July 1 – June 30).
The Pubic Service Assistant II (PSA) will perform a wide variety of general clerical and administrative duties in support of the Fremont Fire Prevention Bureau. In addition, the incumbent will conduct basic community surveys in support of the Division’s enforcement of hazardous material regulations and pertinent California Fire Code (CFC) sections. A City vehicle will be provided for field-related activities. This temporary assignment is scheduled to work up to 20 hours per week, with the duration of employment dependent on funding.
