THE POSITION: The Public Works Department at the City of San Mateo has an opportunity for a per diem management analyst to work in its Administrative offices. The Department, which has about 145 full time employees, is responsible for the City’s major capital projects and infrastructure including streets, street lights and traffic signals, sewer and storm conveyance systems, wastewater treatment plant, a major lagoon and dams and levees. The Management Analyst is part of the Department’s Business Group team which supports all the Divisions within the Department with budget development and monitoring, contract management, performance measurement, analysis and report writing, and public relations and community outreach.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Equivalent to a BA/BS from an accredited college or university with major work in public or business administration or a closely related field.
- General administrative experience, such as experience conducting research and data analyses
- Strong analytical, writing and verbal skills; effective written and oral communication
- Able to work independently with direction from supervisor
DUTIES: The Management Analyst may work on a variety of projects within the Department, depending upon their interests. Some of the primary assignments may include the following:
- Compile and analyze data for Department budgets. Review data on Department expenses and assist with recommendations for the Department budgets.
- Complete analysis on performance measures. Research performance measures and work with staff to develop consistent and relevant performance measures for Department.
- Support Department programs. Assist with review and approval of applications for the Department’s private sewer lateral cost share program.
