The San José Fire Department's (SJFD) core mission is to serve the community by protecting life, property, and the environment through prevention and response. Laterals may be eligible to receive a hiring bonus of up to $20,000 disbursed in four equal phases: the first phase upon successful completion of the testing process and acceptance of a final offer of employment, and the last phase two years after completion of the probationary period as a Police Officer.
Academy Graduates/Academy Participants/FTOs may be eligible to receive a hiring bonus of up to $10,000 disbursed in four equal phases: the first phase upon successful completion of the testing process and acceptance of a final offer of employment, and the last phase two years after completion of the probationary period as a Police Officer.

Compensation:
Police Officer Trainee: $6,668.53 - $6,997.47 monthly
