• Receive business or emergency calls for law enforcement, fire, medical, and other public service agencies.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. 

• A typical way to qualify is a minimum of one year of experience receiving and processing calls while performing multiple tasks simultaneously.

Knowledge of:

• English language, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Customer service and interpersonal communications principles.

Candidates who achieve a passing on the CritiCall exam will be placed on the Eligible, or Hiring List based on the order of their score on the exam.  The top seven candidates on the Eligible List will be considered to fill one vacancy.  For each additional vacancy, one additional candidate will be added to those who can be considered for the positions.

The CritiCall exam is a computer based Public Safety Dispatcher Pre-Employment Skills test. The wide array of tests within the CritiCall exam provides a comprehensive inventory of a candidate's skills and abilities.  Achieving a passing score on the exam is a requirement for employment.  

The examination simulates some of the duties and situations a 911 Communications Dispatcher might encounter on the job.  No specialized knowledge or skills are required to take the exam. 

The CritiCall exam tests for skills and abilities in areas such as decision-making, data entry, call summarization, multi-tasking, cross-referencing, vocalization, character comparison, memory recall, prioritization, mathematics, probability, map reading, reading comprehension, spelling, and sentence clarity.
 
Once the recruitment closes and all applications have been screened, applicants whose applications pass the screening will be sent a link to take the CritiCall exam.  Applicants will have up to ten days to complete the exam.  Complete instructions will be sent in the correspondence regarding registering for and taking the exam.  The exam can be taken at the convenience of the test taker, during the ten specified days.  

Candidates who receive a passing score on the CritiCall exam will be placed on the Hiring List (Eligible List) in the order of the scores from the exam.  The top seven candidates from the Hiring List will be considered for one vacancy.  One additional candidate will be included for each additional vacancy.

The Position

Superior Court of California, San Mateo County is seeking highly qualified individuals to fill one vacancy for a Court Commissioner. The appointment to this position shall be by the judges of the superior court and shall be under the general direction of the presiding judge.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is recruiting for the position of Assistant Counsel I/II in the Office of General Counsel. This position will focus primarily on civil prosecution of air quality violations, including cases seeking civil penalties and/or injunctive relief before the Air District’s administrative Hearing Board and in Superior Court. Experience prosecuting or defending such cases under air quality or other environmental laws, or in other similar enforcement contexts, is highly desirable. The position will also provide legal advice, counseling and representation on related legal issues arising under local, state and federal air pollution laws and regulations, including air quality permitting, development of new regulations, California Environmental Quality Act issues, contract drafting, administrative law issues, and civil rights compliance, among others. Many of the most pressing air quality issues the Bay Area faces relate to disproportionate air pollution burdens in historically disadvantaged communities, so experience and familiarity with environmental justice issues is desirable. This is a full-time, exempt, management position. Assistant Counsel II is the journey level class of this specialized series, fully competent to perform a wide range of environmental law work. This class is distinguished from Senior Assistant Counsel in that the latter assists in administering and coordinating all phases of legal work for the Legal Division.

Assistant Counsel II: In addition to the above, two additional years of experience as an attorney engaged in the practice of law, preferably practicing civil environmental enforcement with a public agency in the State of California, although other relevant experience will be considered.

Job Description

Under general supervision, the 8562 Counselor, Juvenile Hall, is responsible for the care, custody, safety and welfare of juveniles detained at Juvenile Hall.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to: 

1. Observes behavior of detainees in an assigned living unit; directs detainees in the upkeep of personal hygiene, during mealtimes, and while cleaning the unit; maintains appropriate close supervision over detainees to prevent negative incidents; provides appropriate discipline; consults with supervisors regarding disciplinary problems; conducts regular state mandated security checks of rooms; monitors visiting sessions to ensure the safety and security of detainees and counselors.

2. Inspects windows, locks doors when not in use, and keeps count of all detainees assigned to the unit; administers emergency first aid pending the arrival of medical staff; responds to emergency conditions which may require physically subduing and restraining hostile detainees to ensure the safety and security of the unit and the facilities.

3. Completes incident reports, behavior reports, individual case reports, and other departmental forms and reports; maintains the unit log book to ensure adherence to legal requirements. Maintains and updates electronic databases and case management systems.

4. Conducts ongoing individual and group counseling sessions with detainees by communicating rules, policies, expectations, and consequences; listens and responds to questions, concerns, complaints, and requests; provides assistance in working out problems to assist detainees.

5. Directs leisure time activities; teaches and encourages good sportsmanship.

6. Transports residents to and from various locations; directs and controls residents’ movement to ensure the safety and security of the residents.

7. Facilitates the admittance and release process of residents.

8. Confers with departmental personnel and representatives of outside agencies.

Qualifications

Education:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

License and Certification:
Possession of a valid California driver license.
Possession of a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.

Substitution:
Experience as a counselor in a juvenile detention facility or experience involving the organization, detention, or suspension of youth groups in a recreational or correctional program may substitute for up to two (2) years of the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. One (1) year equals thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units.

THE DEPARTMENT

Extra Help - Extra-help positions are short-term employment for up to 1040 hours which is equivalent to about six months; however, employment might end sooner depending on the needs of the hiring departments. Extra-help assignments are at-will and the employee is paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra-help workers are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the extra-help assignment.

Term - Term positions are designated for a specific and limited period of time, anywhere from 6 months to a maximum of 3 years depending on the assignment. Medical Services Assistants II who are assigned to the clinics and perform advanced patient care duties as defined in the classification specification shall receive a differential of 6.2% in addition to all other compensation.
 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Accurately take and record the condition, respiration, pulse, temperature and blood pressure of patients; record other pertinent information as observed or measured.
• Apply non-sterile dressings and administer non-medicated treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, surgeon, podiatrist, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
• Carry out rehabilitation procedures as directed by therapists; perform a range of motion body movement with/for patients; position and exercise patients.

Qualifications

Certification Requirement:
Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate or a certificate of completion or degree from an accredited medical assisting program is required. A certificate of completion of an approved medical assisting program must be submitted at the time of application.

Bilingual Fluency:
Some positions may require bilingual skills. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to be considered for a bilingual position.

Job Description

Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician supports the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients served by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Assists registered pharmacists in performing nonprofessional duties in an institutional pharmacy; receives, inspects, stores, and fills orders for pharmaceutical supplies. Under supervision, the Pharmacy Technician performs the following essential job functions:

• Accurately prepares unit dose medications, compounds a variety of pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Pharmacist, including intravenous admixtures according to proper aseptic technique and in accordance with, professional standards and departmental policies and procedures, in order to maintain required levels of supply and to provide patients with needed medications;
• Prepares or repackages drugs and pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Pharmacist, in amounts needed to fill written orders/prescriptions in order to provide patients with needed medication and to maintain required levels of supply;
• Prepares medication labels based on written orders from physicians and other professional staff according to California State Board of Pharmacy requirements;
