Examples of Duties

Employees in this classification are trained in, and perform the following duties:

• Receive business or emergency calls for law enforcement, fire, medical, and other public service agencies.
• Screen information to determine nature of call, perform call classification, determine priority and jurisdiction, and document activity.
• Screen and prioritize telephone workload. 
• Remain cognizant of workloads and specific systems status.
• Provide support and assistance in a team concept during day-to-day operations, and critical or large-scale incidents.
• Assist in the coordination of mutual aid incidents.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. 

• A typical way to qualify is a minimum of one year of experience receiving and processing calls while performing multiple tasks simultaneously.

Knowledge of:

• English language, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Customer service and interpersonal communications principles.
• Computer operation and use in office and Communications Center environments.
• Basic principles in communicating by means of face-to-face contact, telephone, and/or data terminals.

The examination process will consist of an application review and the administration of the computer based CritiCall Examination (weight: 100%).  Applicants whose application passes the application review will be invited to take the CritiCall exam. Candidates who achieve a passing on the CritiCall exam will be placed on the Eligible, or Hiring List based on the order of their score on the exam.  The top seven candidates on the Eligible List will be considered to fill one vacancy.  For each additional vacancy, one additional candidate will be added to those who can be considered for the positions.  

Once the recruitment closes and the applications have been reviewed, applicants will be sent a link to the CritiCall exam.  Applicants will have a 14-day window in which to complete the examination.  Because the exam is computer based, applicants can take the exam at their convenience during the ten-day time frame.

The CritiCall exam is a computer based Public Safety Dispatcher Pre-Employment Skills test. The wide array of tests within the CritiCall exam provides a comprehensive inventory of a candidate's skills and abilities.  Achieving a passing score on the exam is a requirement for employment.  

The examination simulates some of the duties and situations a 911 Communications Dispatcher might encounter on the job.  No specialized knowledge or skills are required to take the exam. 

The CritiCall exam tests for skills and abilities in areas such as decision-making, data entry, call summarization, multi-tasking, cross-referencing, vocalization, character comparison, memory recall, prioritization, mathematics, probability, map reading, reading comprehension, spelling, and sentence clarity.
 
Once the recruitment closes and all applications have been screened, applicants whose applications pass the screening will be sent a link to take the CritiCall exam.  Applicants will have up to ten days to complete the exam.  Complete instructions will be sent in the correspondence regarding registering for and taking the exam.  The exam can be taken at the convenience of the test taker, during the ten specified days.  

Candidates who receive a passing score on the CritiCall exam will be placed on the Hiring List (Eligible List) in the order of the scores from the exam.  The top seven candidates from the Hiring List will be considered for one vacancy.  One additional candidate will be included for each additional vacancy.  

Candidates who successfully pass the CritiCall examination and the panel interview and are being offered a position will be required to complete a pre-employment, POST mandated, background investigation that includes a medical examination and polygraph testing.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Zero Waste Operations Manager and the Solid Waste Supervisor(s) on a daily basis to ensure that all operations are carried out safely and in compliance with environmental obligations. In addition, this role oversees the onboarding and recurring training programs for Solid Waste Workers and Drivers; interacts with the Division Manager to implement initiatives, policies, and procedures; and works closely to resolve customer service issues that arise at the council level.

The Senior Solid Waste Supervisor also works closely with peers across all operations to ensure consistent safety and operational standards and performance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is equivalent to graduation from high school and five (5) years of increasingly responsible journey level experience in integrated solid waste collection, diversion and disposal which included two (2) years at the level equivalent to the Solid Waste Supervisor class.

Position Summary

Under supervision of the Ironworker Superintendent, performs structural maintenance, repair and construction for the Golden Gate Bridge and other District facilities as required. Following plans and specifications, lays-out and fabricates a wide range of items.

Essential Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance, repair and construction for the Golden Gate Bridge and other District facilities including, but not limited to, the following: 
  1. Maintenance, repair, and replacement of steel components and fasteners. 
  2. Rigging for other crafts. 
  3. Installs and repairs of chain link and other fencing. 
  4. Shop fabrication of steel items and erection of structural and miscellaneous steel items. 
  5. Placement of reinforcing steel for concrete. 
  6. Maintenance of toll collection facilities and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Completion of Ironworker’s Apprenticeship. Four years’ Structural Ironworker experience required; welding and shop fabrication experience desirable. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for completion of an Ironworker Apprenticeship Program; applicants substituting additional qualifying experience for an Ironworker Apprenticeship Program should attach a statement supporting the additional qualifying experience. 

Required License: Must possess and maintain a current, valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record. No reckless driving and DUI infractions within the last 7 years. No more than 2 moving violations within the last 3 years. May operate District vehicles.

Physical Requirements:  Must be able to perform heavy manual labor. Work is performed outside in varying weather conditions. Must be able to stoop, bend, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. Will be required to wear a respirator, or other personal protective equipment involving full body protection. Must be able to work comfortably at considerable heights from platforms, ladders, floats or suspended scaffolds; climb and walk on the Bridge cables; and climb ladders.

THE POSITION:

The Facilities Carpenter I is an entry level classification in the carpentry series. Carpenters in this class are assigned routine skilled carpentry tasks. Under the training concept of growing excellence in craft, positions allocated to the Facilities Carpenter II level which become vacant may reasonably be filled at the I level. 
 

The Facilities Carpenter II is responsible for performing a variety of skilled carpentry and related tasks in the construction, remodeling, repair, and maintenance of City facilities. This the journey level classification within the carpenter series. Incumbents at this level act with independence, handle "master" craftworker projects, and assume the more complex activities which would otherwise require the attention and coordination of the Facilities and Building Manager.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Gilroy Police Department is actively seeking an undergraduate-level or graduate- level Police Administration College Intern to assist police officers and other professional staff in various divisions. The intern will perform general clerical duties related to crime analysis, youth task form and gang prevention, public safety communication, community outreach, handle confidential information, and assist with other police related projects and assignments. The Police Administration Intern will also engage and interact with the community at various local community events.

The Police Intern will work under the direction of a Police Sergeant and/or Police Captain to help streamline the needs of the multiple units in the Police Department.

About the Highway Program Deputy Director

The Highway Program Deputy Director, reporting to the Chief of Engineering and Program Delivery, manages a diverse and talented team of seasoned staff who is well-versed on the delivery of capital projects related to the State highway system and other roadways in the county. The mission of the Finance Department is to strategically manage the City of San José's financial resources for all stakeholders.
The Finance Department has five core divisions:

The Finance Department works in partnership with the departments of Human Resources, Information Technology, and Public Works as the City's Strategic Support City Service Area to effectively develop, manage, and safeguard City fiscal, physical, technological, and human resources to enable and enhance the delivery of City services and projects. The Finance Department has a $24.2 million operating budget and 134 budgeted full-time equivalent (FTE) positions. Reporting directly to the City's Chief Procurement Officer, the Program Manager will work both independently and collaboratively, and will exhibit cross-functional expertise in procurement, contracting and information technology. The Program Manager will have five (5) direct reports (Senior Analysts) and five (5) indirect reports (4 Analysts and 1 Buyer) and will provide leadership, development, and mentorship for the reports. The essential job duties of this Program Manager position include:

• Plan, direct, and manage multiple procurement and contracting services for City departments.
• Lead all major Information Technology (IT) procurements.
• Work closely with the IT Department and City Departments on purchasing, contracting, and ongoing vendor management for all enterprise systems, including Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), payroll, online permitting, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, mobile data computers for the Police Department, and all network upgrades.
• Analyze, negotiate, and maintain the City's IT software licensing agreements.
• Provide guidance and assistance to City staff with developing scope of work and specifications for IT procurements.
• Evaluate procurement requests by City staff and advice on the appropriate procurement vehicles.
• Oversee preparation and issuance of documentation required for competitive solicitations including but not limited to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs).
• Negotiate, prepare, and write complex contracts; negotiate and review contract amendments and change orders.
• Provide leadership, direction, and assistance to City departments on procurement and contract negotiation activities.
• Write and present action memoranda to the City Council and City Council Committees.
• Provide procurement-related training to City staff.
• Represent the Finance Department on cross department projects and meetings.
