Woodside Fire Protection District offers an exceptional Cadet Program for individuals interested in a career in the Fire Service. Cadets gain hands-on experience participating in training and public service events. Cadets work 24-hour shifts and ride-along on emergency calls.

Woodside Cadets will work and be involved in:

Emergency calls, firefighter training, public education events, fire prevention, station duties, CERPP, CPR/first aid training. They must also meet monthly hour requirements and attend monthly training drills.

The Cadet term begins in July 1st 2024 through June 30th 2025.

Cadets must have a valid EMT certification, proof of medical insurance and a valid California driver license in order to apply.

Interviews will be held June 14th and 15th.

Office Assistant for Recreation and Community Programs

Office Assistants provide a variety of office support activities to an assigned program or division. Office Assistants are expected to provide professional and courteous customer service at all times; greet and assist program visitors; answer the telephone in a courteous and professional manner; provide accurate information and answer general questions or forward calls to appropriate staff. Office Assistants also are tasked to open and secure assigned facilities; set up, arrange, and take furniture and equipment and ensure set up is in accordance with customer needs and requests for classes, rentals, meetings, and special events; monitor the proper and safe use of City facilities by the general public and ensure adherence to rules and policies; ensure the cleanliness and safety of facilities throughout the day. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with word processing, data entry and organization, telephone and counter reception, record keeping, verbal and written communication, and customer service.

Currently, the City is preparing to open a brand-new, state-of-the-art multi-service center known as the Belle Haven Community Campus. This new campus is on track to open soon and will feature a senior center, youth center, recreation center, gymnasium, swim center and branch library. The Management Analyst, under the general direction of the Department Head, performs a wide range of responsible, professional, administrative, and staff assignments, which include oversight of interdepartmental and City-wide projects and programs, and performs related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Management and administration of grants, implementation of all components of grants, ensure reporting and compliance requirements;
• Research, compile, and analyze crime statistics, financial, and other data;
• Assist in program, policy, and budget development, evaluation, and monitoring;
• Prepare recommendations for grants, budgets, new programs, modification of services and equipment;
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and monitor assigned projects;
• Prepare reports and presentations on all pertinent aspects of grants, proposed programs, and projects

• Analyze, interpret, and explain City policies and procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of municipal budgeting, finance, and/or public administration;
• Ability to write and present reports and recommendations;
• Ability to demonstrate competency in research and analysis;
• Ability to work as a team member and respond in a positive manner to supervision.

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university with major work in public or business administration or related field.

Experience: One to two years of general administrative experience, preferably in grant administration in local government.

License: Possession of a valid Class “C” California Driver's License.

These positions are part-time (20 hours a week) and provide a flexible work schedule. We are looking for candidates that enjoy teaching & working with preschool and school aged children. The working hours are Monday through Friday.

 DEFINITION

Under supervision, performs sub-professional engineering office work related to Public Works improvements; elementary field surveying; computer-aided drafting and design work; and related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Performs a wide variety of responsible sub-professional engineering work; computes and posts simple engineering data; computer-aided drafting, design, and mapping; revises, reviews, files, and updates engineering plans and maps; assists field survey and traffic survey crews as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: The elementary principles of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry; drafting symbols used in construction work; basic engineering office equipment; modern personal computers and related computer software; principles and practical application of computer-aided drafting, design, and mapping systems.

Ability to: Learn the use of surveying equipment and techniques; learn basic construction inspection procedures; accurately make and verify mathematical computations; perform neat and accurate drafting; collect engineering field data, and make field notes; maintain accurate records; effectively operate computer-aided drafting, design and mapping software; effectively use modern office software; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; work flexible hours; deal effectively and courteously with the public and general contractors; attend work and perform duties as assigned.

Experience: None required

Education: Completion of 45 semester college units with major in civil engineering or related course of study.

License: Possession of valid Class C California Driver's License.
