About the Position:  The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) Seasonal Ranger Aide is an entry-level position, which provides the opportunity to learn and perform some duties of a ranger under the guidance of experienced ranger staff. Ranger Aides provide visitor information and assistance, travelling by non-emergency Midpen vehicles and on foot throughout an assigned geographical region. Ranger Aides perform a variety of customer service duties such as educating and informing the public about Midpen land use regulations, public relations and provide general information services, but do not have law enforcement authority.  Ranger Aides will assist with routine maintenance work on Midpen land and facilities and may respond to assist with emergency calls. The start dates will be in or around late June/July 2024 and the selected individuals will continue working through February 2025.  See Job Description for additional information.

Requirements: Must have the ability to  learn Midpen lands, pertinent laws and regulations and contact, educate and inform the public about the lands and regulations ; administer first aid and CPR; operate and maintain various power tools and equipment; operate two-way radios; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; and other duties as assigned.

Certificates Needed: A valid California driver license is required upon appointment; valid professional rescuer CPR certificate and basic First Aid certificate (Midpen will offer training to candidates who do not possess CPR/First Aid certificates upon appointment).

Education & Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from high school. Six months experience working in a customer service related field.  Some experience or training in a parks settings is desirable.

Schedules:  This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work full-time (40 hours during the work week); however, school schedules may be accommodated.  Weekend work (Sat/Sun) is required, with two consistent days off each week (either Mondays/Tuesdays off OR Thursdays/Fridays off).  Incumbents will work an 8-hour workday (plus a 30-minute unpaid meal break). Daily start and end times will be the same for most workdays, typically scheduled within the range of 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Must be willing to work weekends, nights, holidays, or extended shifts and work with exposure to difficult circumstances, including exposure to challenging situations and upset individuals. Seasonal assignments will not exceed 950 hours or 7 months, whichever comes first, and do not include benefits

Working Conditions: Most work is outdoors within Midpen’s open space lands with exposure to inclement weather conditions. This requires the ability to patrol on foot, off trail, and in rugged terrain.  Also requires the ability to perform related emergency services and maintenance and construction work on Midpen lands. Once trained, Ranger Aides may work alone for parts or all of their shifts. Must wear prescribed District uniform and adhere to strict safety procedures and work habits.

The City of Dixon is accepting applications to fill one (1) full-time position of Transit Driver/Dispatcher and to establish an eligibility list for future use.  

This position drives a Readi-Ride General Public Paratransit Vehicle (GPPV) on a demand responsive curb-to-curb transit system and assist patrons boarding and leaving the bus, especially the elderly, disabled, and school age children. May also assist in collecting information relating to the operation of the system; receive ride requests and organize the vehicle pick-ups and drop-offs; and, will work closely with the drivers and Transit Supervisor to ensure coordinated efforts.

The County of San Mateo Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Division is seeking a well-qualified Case Management/Assessment Specialist I/II to work as a team of providers with the Homeless, Engagement, Assessment & Linkage (HEAL) team to provide a wide variety of intake and referral services including screening and assessment, intensive case management support, evaluation, tracking and facilitation of housing readiness for individuals staying in existing adult congregate and non-congregate shelters who have behavioral health conditions and are in need of accessing behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, and case management on a transitional basis while they are being connected to Medi-Cal funded behavioral health treatment.  The Case Management/Assessment Specialist will develop and implement activities supporting substance abuse prevention, intervention and rehabilitation, and perform other related work.  

The current vacancy is an unclassified position that will be embedded in a number of homeless shelters, congregate and non-congregate shelters, located in San Mateo and will work primarily  Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm collaborating with various system partners and homeless providers. 
 
Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Engage individuals with severe and persistent substance use disorders to provide a range of services and support, including but not limited to, substance use screening, assessment, and motivational engagement.  
• Assess clients' needs using assessment criteria to determine medical necessity and identification of key clinical interventions.
• Use the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) guidelines for placement and determination of stage of change.
• Engage clients by using Motivational Interviewing and Harm Reduction practices.
• Provide intensive case management including transportation, client advocacy, care coordination with other care providers and linkages to other housing support services, benefits assistance, employment services, peer services, supported education and psychosocial rehabilitation services, and client-driven treatment planning.
• Refer and connect clients to a continuum of substance use disorder and mental health services, including Medication Assisted Treatment, detox facilities, and other SUD treatment options.
• Initiate a "warm hand-off" process to increase the likelihood of a successful engagement.
• Assist the Grant clients with housing readiness and referrals to permanent housing navigator/locator services and supporting them to obtain CES assessment for prioritizations of housing and eligibility for housing vouchers.
• Link clients to primary care clinics to address medical conditions.
• Refer clients to enroll into benefits, including health coverage for which they are eligible.
• Participate in a multidisciplinary team; use clinical consultation and case conferencing on difficult cases; and partner with key referral sources and other service providers including but not limited to, San Mateo Medical Center Emergency Department, Psychiatric Emergency Services, and Primary Care and Specialty Clinics, Behavioral Health and Recovery Services clinics and programs, Substance Use Disorder treatment providers, including Palm Avenue Detox, shelters, Probation, and Correctional Health.
• Attend team meeting, supervision meeting, and other relevant meetings as assigned.
• Gather, track, and report all program’s and grant’s required data and reporting timely as assigned.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Ideal candidate will possess:  

• Significant experience and training in providing case management, assessment and evaluation of adult clients with substance use issues.
• Experience working with adult clients having co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, emergency services, criminal justice system, or adult clients respective to the position.
• Demonstrated experience determining appropriate referrals and recommending treatment plans.
• Ability to maintain case files and use of spreadsheets and other databases.
• Experience establishing appropriate clinical relationships.
• Demonstrated understanding and experience with confidentiality and ethics.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with multiple partner agencies
• Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors are strongly preferred (e.g. CADC-I/II, CAADE).
• The ability to speak, read and write fluently in both English and Spanish is preferred.

SALARY
Case Management/Assessment Specialist I:  $6,496.53 - $7,262.67 /month
Case Management/Assessment Specialist II:  $6,564.13 - $8,205.60 /month

San Mateo County Health's Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Division is seeking a trauma informed, culturally responsive, field-based experienced individual for the position of Mental Health Counselor I/II, Spanish Speaking Required, with the Adult Resource Management (ARM) Team. The ARM team is located at 2000 Alameda de Las Pulgas in San Mateo, CA. This position requires traveling throughout San Mateo County.
 
The ARM team provides critical, field-based, trauma informed and culturally responsive, intensive case management support to Clients with Severe Mental Illness (SMI) who are either at high risk of being hospitalized or re-hospitalized, being discharged from locked facilities, are at risk of homelessness and or are currently homeless. The referrals to the ARM team come from the Regional Clinics, PES, Hospitals, and other partner agencies. This position also provides intensive case management support to the Clients admitted to the contracted mental health beds at Safe Harbor Shelter and the Navigation Center. This position assists Clients with treatment support and engagement, transportation to appointments, applying for GA and to other needed resources that include employment and permanent housing, and to help them manage their symptoms and behaviors.
 
The ideal candidate will have experience providing field-based intensive case management for Clients with SMI and co-occurring conditions; working with adults who are homeless or potentially homeless, leaving jail, in shelters, in detox and substance use residential facilities, in social rehabilitation facilities, or in hospitals; interviewing and assessing clients' housing, financial and employment needs; assisting adult clients to stabilize in the community with housing and other services; assisting clients to develop treatment recovery; assisting clients in their addiction recovery; and an understanding and working knowledge of systems of care. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required 

NOTE: The eligible list generated from this recruitment may be used to fill future extra-help, term, unclassified, and regular classified vacancies.

• Prepare and maintain psychosocial case histories for use in diagnostic evaluations and evaluations of patient progress; 
• Consult frequently with professional team members; 
• Provide outreach counseling and refer clients to appropriate mental health program service resources; 
• Counsel individuals or groups regarding resources or services available for treatment and to help combat relapses; 
• Participate with program staff in individual client and program conferences, in staff development and professional growth activities; 
• Plan and present informational services to community target groups and organizations to explain mental health programs and services; 
• Serve as lead or co-facilitator in group, individual or other treatment modality; and
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

Mental Health Counselor I: One year of experience in a community mental health setting, performing crisis intervention or related counseling services or completion of 60 semester units from an accredited college or university with emphasis in one of the behavioral sciences.
 

Mental Health Counselor II: Two years of experience in a community mental health setting, performing individual or group therapeutic counseling services to clients and developing therapeutic assessment and treatment plans.

Knowledge of: 
Mental health needs and problems of the general population; rehabilitative counseling techniques including role playing, behavioral modification and recreational therapy; social aspects of mental and emotional disturbances; basic techniques and dynamics of individual and group therapy; community resources available for treatment of clients; problems, needs, attitudes and behavior patterns of clients having basic emotional and/or social adjustment problems; and individual, couple, family and group counseling principles.

Skill/Ability to:

BeautifySJ Programs include, the Graffiti Removal Program, Illegal Dumping Program, Neighborhood Dumpster Day Program, Neighborhood Litter Program, Recreational Vehicle Pollution Prevention Program, Encampment Trash removal Program, Clean Gateways and Cash for Trash Program.

The Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department is currently seeking to fill two temporary (Overstrength) full-time Community Activity Specialist vacancy in the BeautifySJ Prorgram. The position is currently funded through June 30, 2026. These two (2) Community Activity Specialist who will support the Encampment Management Team with the implementation of the no return/no encampment zone for encampments. In addition to this assignment, these two positions will assist the encampment abatement teams with weekly abatement activities including noticing encampments, referrals to partner departments for outreach, providing education on encampment setback areas. The position daily engagement with those residing in homeless encampments. Those selected for the positions can expect to work in-person, 40 hours per week with a typical in-person schedule of Monday-Friday.

The duties of this position will consist of:
 

• Posting encampment abatement notices at encampments
• Engaging with those who reside in homeless encampments to educate them on the "no return zone" and other encampment setbacks

• Pilot and document best practices for a no-encampment zones
• Coordinate with city officials, other City Departments, law enforcement, and service providers to ensure a unified approach to clearing and managing encampments

THE POSITION

The Clinical Therapist I/II position for the ATC team will appeal to individuals who are interested in assisting participants and clients with enrolling into mental health services and getting the support they need.  We are looking for individuals inspired by challenges and opportunities presented in working with an engaged and active community.  The Clinical Therapist I/II will report to a Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Program Manager.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Conduct same day biopsychosocial assessments with both adults and/or children and carry no caseload;

• Will formulate a differential diagnosis concerning the nature of the mental health challenge;

• Create treatment plans and complete all necessary Electronic Health Record documentation;

• Perform screenings, linkage to resources and provide crisis interventions and crisis assessments;

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for a special individual to serve as a Clinical Therapist I/II for the Children’s Full Service Partnership/Children and Transitional Age Youth (FSP/ C TAY). The Clinical Therapist I/II provides behavioral health clinical intervention and recovery services to assigned clients and their families; develops treatment plans and performs individual, group, and family psychotherapeutic counseling, routine and emergency assessment, crisis intervention, and related treatment services; manages an assigned caseload of adults, juveniles, and/or children; provides consultation to other staff, programs, and agencies related to treatment needs and plans; and performs related duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Provides individual, group, and family interventions, rehabilitation, and treatment services including counseling, therapy, case management, and referral and linkage to community services to a variety of clients including high acuity clients.

• Within scope of authority, assesses, diagnoses, and treats a variety of clients with mental health disorders; collaborates with clients and creates individualized treatments plans according to client’s needs and circumstances.

• Initiates and conducts individual, group, and family counseling and biopsychosocial therapy sessions utilizing a variety of techniques and modalities; provides case management services in the office and in the field.

• Performs routine and emergency intake evaluations according to Authority procedure; completes appropriate forms and documents relating to the intake process; and prepares medical and demographic case history for use in diagnosis.

• Assists clients and family members in understanding behavioral health diagnosis, contributing factors/causes, effects, prognosis, rehabilitation, and treatment.

• Works with clients to address stressors and barriers to treatment and/or social functioning; identifies and focuses on client strengths and personal resources to effectively engage and treat client.

The Transportation Supervisor is an important part of the City's transit team that provide services including the Auburn Loop fixed route and Auburn OnDemand ride share programs.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

• Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for Auburn Transit daily operations; perform regular road supervision, vehicle trial checks, and daily vehicle inspection monitoring.
• Establish schedules and methods for providing Auburn Transit services; schedule drivers to ensure routes are completed in a safe and timely manner; coordinate any changes to facilitate coverage for all shifts.
• Coordinates transportation needs for local schools and special events; prepares calendar of trips or special events to be incorporated into the bus timetable; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
• Provide an increasing level of customer service and satisfaction by providing service that is flexible, dependable, and consistent.
• Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
• Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures.
• Participate in the selection of Bus Drivers; provide or coordinate staff training; issue manuals, bulletins and technical guides to improve services and operational activities; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
• Coordinate training for driver certification and maintenance of certification; document all training in the driver training records; act as a liaison with CHP and DMV regarding certification and training record documentation.
• Provide staff assistance to the Transit Manager; participate on a variety of committees; prepare and present reports of operations and activities and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary.
• Coordinate maintenance for buses and allocate buses to be used on routes.
• Respond to the scene of transit vehicle accidents and passenger incidents; provide on the scene assistance to drivers and passengers.
• Investigate accidents and incidents; make prompt and accurate reports; review investigation with transit drivers and determine accident preventability and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Act as Safety Liaison with various agencies including police and emergency authorities as necessary.
• Provide regular informational and safety meetings.
• Perform a full range of customer relations; answer questions from the public relating to bus routes and schedule of pick-ups and drop-offs; issue bus passes.
• Work with local businesses to promote the use of Auburn Transit and fulfill the optimal service hours of the route.
• Operate a bus as necessary to cover shifts.
• Perform related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Knowledge of: Operational characteristics, services, and activities of a public transit program; principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation; operational characteristics, maintenance, and emergency repair principles related to assigned vehicles; vehicle inspection principles and practices; geography of the City; pertinent federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations including traffic and safety laws, ordinances, regulations, and rules applicable to the operation of vehicles in the transportation of passengers; certifications required for the operation of a bus carrying passengers; occupational hazards and standard safety practices; methods and techniques of public relations and customer service; principles and procedures of record keeping; safe and defense driving principles and practices; basic first aid principles and practices.

Ability to: Supervise, direct, and coordinate the work of lower level staff; select, supervise, train, and evaluate staff; prepare clear and concise reports; drive a bus and other automotive equipment safely and efficiently in traffic; maintain order among passengers on a bus; properly load, tie down, and secure wheelchairs on the bus; interpret and apply applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations as well as administrative and departmental policies and procedures; work safely and adhere to principles of safety; respond tactfully, clearly, concisely, and appropriately to inquiries from the public, press, or other agencies on sensitive issues in area of responsibility; compile data, maintain records and files, and participate in the preparation of clear and concise reports; independently prepare routine correspondence and memoranda; operate office equipment including computers and supporting word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Environment: Standard office setting and field environment; travel from site to site; extensive public contact; exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions; noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, and gases.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting and to operate a passenger bus for extended periods of time; push, pull, lift, and/or carry moderate amounts of weight; twist; climb steps; operate office equipment and assigned vehicles.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
