About the Position:  The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) Seasonal Ranger Aide is an entry-level position, which provides the opportunity to learn and perform some duties of a ranger under the guidance of experienced ranger staff. Ranger Aides provide visitor information and assistance, travelling by non-emergency Midpen vehicles and on foot throughout an assigned geographical region. Ranger Aides perform a variety of customer service duties such as educating and informing the public about Midpen land use regulations, public relations and provide general information services, but do not have law enforcement authority.  Ranger Aides will assist with routine maintenance work on Midpen land and facilities and may respond to assist with emergency calls. The start dates will be in or around late June/July 2024 and the selected individuals will continue working through February 2025.  See Job Description for additional information.

Requirements: Must have the ability to  learn Midpen lands, pertinent laws and regulations and contact, educate and inform the public about the lands and regulations ; administer first aid and CPR; operate and maintain various power tools and equipment; operate two-way radios; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; and other duties as assigned.

Certificates Needed: A valid California driver license is required upon appointment; valid professional rescuer CPR certificate and basic First Aid certificate (Midpen will offer training to candidates who do not possess CPR/First Aid certificates upon appointment).

Education & Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from high school. Six months experience working in a customer service related field.  Some experience or training in a parks settings is desirable.

Schedules:  This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work full-time (40 hours during the work week); however, school schedules may be accommodated.  Weekend work (Sat/Sun) is required, with two consistent days off each week (either Mondays/Tuesdays off OR Thursdays/Fridays off).  Incumbents will work an 8-hour workday (plus a 30-minute unpaid meal break). Daily start and end times will be the same for most workdays, typically scheduled within the range of 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Must be willing to work weekends, nights, holidays, or extended shifts and work with exposure to difficult circumstances, including exposure to challenging situations and upset individuals. Seasonal assignments will not exceed 950 hours or 7 months, whichever comes first, and do not include benefits

Working Conditions: Most work is outdoors within Midpen’s open space lands with exposure to inclement weather conditions. This requires the ability to patrol on foot, off trail, and in rugged terrain.  Also requires the ability to perform related emergency services and maintenance and construction work on Midpen lands. Once trained, Ranger Aides may work alone for parts or all of their shifts. Must wear prescribed District uniform and adhere to strict safety procedures and work habits.

POSITION

The City Clerk plans, organizes, and directs all functions and responsibilities of the City Clerk's office as specified by the City Council and as required by law.  This is an exempt Management Position. The incumbent serves in an at-will capacity and sits at the pleasure of the City Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

The City Clerk performs the following duties which may include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinates and prepares agenda for City Council and designated commission meetings.
• Reviews agenda items for compliance with legal requirements.
• Organizes completed staff reports.
• Reproduces and distributes agenda packages to appropriate individuals and organizations.
• Ensures the City Council Chamber is in proper order for all meetings.
• Attends City Council and designated commission meetings, acts as recording secretary and prepares minutes.

• Oversees the publication of legal notices, postings and mailings.
• Coordinates the appointments to city boards and commissions.
• Trains, evaluates, supervises and disciplines staff assigned to the City Clerk function.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Education: 
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field.

Experience: 
Five (5) years of experience in performing high-level and complex administrative and analytical work, including two (2) years supervisory experience, preferable in a public agency.  Experience in a City Clerk's office is desirable.

Licenses and Certificates: 

Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver's license.  Must be able to obtain and maintain a Notary Commission within twelve (12) months of employment.  Ability to obtain certification as a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) within three (3) years, if not already obtained.  Possession of Certified Municipal Clerk designation upon hire is highly desirable.

Bilingual: 
Knowledge of a second language is beneficial.

We are seeking an innovative and proactive Building Official with a positive, forward-thinking perspective. To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water lines, sewers, storm drains, and pump stations.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill multiple vacancies in the Sanitary Sewer/Storm Drainage Systems Division, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.  Initial position and salary of the selected candidate will be based on previous work experience and valid licenses/certificates. 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The City of Woodland is looking to fill multiple Utilities Maintenance Worker I/II positions in the Public Works Sanitary Sewer/Storm Drainage Systems Division.  The Ideal Candidate for the current vacancy is someone who has a good understanding of all aspects of underground sewer/storm drain maintenance and repairs, and is familiar with the operation of light and heavy equipment.  This position requires a “team player” with good interpersonal, time management, and communication skills.  Candidate must be able to follow direction and display good judgment, as well as be organized, flexible, approachable, resourceful, and a positive team contributor.  Current and valid distribution certifications and Class A/B commercial driver’s license are highly desirable.

Utilities Maintenance Worker I:

This is the entry level class in the Utilities Maintenance Worker series.  The Utilities Maintenance Worker I may often perform many of the duties required of Utilities Maintenance Workers II but is not expected to have the depth of experience, skill level and certifications of the Utilities Maintenance Worker II. As a result, the Utilities Maintenance Worker I will have fewer opportunities to exercise independent discretion and judgment on matters related to work procedures and methods.

Utilities Maintenance Worker II:

This is the Journey level in the Utilities Maintenance Worker series. This class differs from Utilities Maintenance Worker I in that incumbent perform more complex maintenance duties including working independently, exercising judgment, and operating the full range of tools and mechanical equipment related to a specific assignment.  The Utilities Maintenance Worker II may also be expected to assist in the oversight and training of less experienced personnel. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level, or by candidates with prior work experience elsewhere.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

Operate a variety of light and moderately heavy construction and maintenance equipment including such pieces as a loader, dump truck, water truck, steel rollers, High Velocity Vacuum Cleaner, mole trencher, and rubber-tired tractor with all attachments in order to perform a variety of routine construction and maintenance operations.  Operate fork lift as assigned and trained.  Perform general maintenance and repair on water distribution and/or storm and wastewater collection facilities including installation, testing, and backfill of service laterals.  Within the sewer and stormwater collections division, employees will be expected to use the Closed-Circuit Television Truck, sewer cable machine, flush sewer laterals and mains, assist in sewer tap installations, clean storm drain lines and catch basins. Within the water distribution division, employees will be expected to assist in water tap installations, install, remove, and repair water meters, hydrants, service valves, and mainline valves; take water meter and gauge readings; accurately maintain records and reports.  All Utilities Maintenance Worker I/II will operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates, utilize proper safety precautions related to all performed work and comply with the policies and procedures in the department Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that employee must be present to work on facilities and equipment impacting the public’s health and safety.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS 

Respond to inquiries from the general public. Prepare as built sketches, when required to convey information to engineering for graphic documentation. Check water meters for proper operation; troubleshoot registers and repair. Initiate and discontinue water service to customer accounts as directed. Operate telemetering and flow monitoring equipment. Work cooperatively with others. Perform related duties as assigned. Both Assignments will require employees to be “On Call” as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Utilities Maintenance Worker I

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.  Courses in, or graduation from, the American Public Works Association’s Public Works Institute is desirable

Experience:  One (1) year of experience in construction or related field.

License and Certificate:  Requires possession of a California State Drinking Water Operator Certification Program (DWOCP) Grade I Water Distribution Operator (D1) and a Grade I Wastewater Collections System Maintenance certificate issued by California Water Environment Association prior to permanent appointment. 

A Pipeline Assessment and Certification Program certificate issued by the National Association of Sewer System Companies (NASSCO) is desirable.

Requires possession of a valid California Driver's License.  A Class B Driver’s permit and DMV Medical Certification are required within three (3) months of hire.  Employee must obtain a valid Class B Driver's License, a Work Zone Safety certification issued by the International Municipal Signal Association, First Aid and CPR certifications, Competent Person certification, and Confined Space certification prior to permanent appointment.

Utilities Maintenance Worker II

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Courses in or graduation from the American Public Works Association’s Public Works Institute is desirable

Experience:  One (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Utilities Maintenance Worker I.

Job Description

Under direct supervision, the Development Strategy & Finance Sr. Analyst works within the Port’s Real Estate and Development Division leading analytical work related to the Port’s Public-Private Partnership Development Projects. Key tasks will include preparing complex financial analyses and reports, analyzing development pro formas and appraisals, coordinating the issuance and disbursement of bonds and associated record keeping documentation, supporting with development negotiations, and managing division-wide contracts, billings, and budgets.

The Sr. Analyst will support Project Managers with all aspects of Port Development projects. The role will receive support in learning and performing all tasks with the goal of independently managing specific areas over time. The Development team and this position are collaborative in nature, and the Sr. Analyst will work with both internal and external stakeholders including all Port Divisions, specifically Port Finance and the Port’s Resilience team, the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, the Office of Public Finance, and private development partners.

The essential functions of this position include:

• Analyzes Port-wide development opportunities to prioritize projects and determine value to support Port-wide Sea Level Rise resilience projects.
• Reviews project pro formas, appraisals, and other financial analyses to determine fiscal feasibility and economic value to the Port.
• Supports Port Development, Finance, and Office of Public Finance teams with tax district formation and bond issuances.
• Tracks ongoing Project finances to ensure projects stay on budget, public sources are sufficient for funding, and Port meets revenue expectations.
• Identifies cost-saving measures for development projects and support the implementation of these actions with other City departments
• Supports Project Managers on development negotiations (term sheets, leases, community benefits) by conducting research tasks and financial projections
• Assists in the drafting of relevant development deal documents (term sheet, leases, Development Agreements)
• Assists in preparation of memos, staff reports, and presentations for Port executives, Port Commission, and Board of Supervisors.
• Coordinates billing and payments for developer reimbursables and Development-related invoices with Development Finance Manager.
• Manages Development team’s as-needed economic consultant contracts.

Qualifications

Education

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; AND

Experience

Three (3) years full-time equivalent experience performing professional-level analytical work. Qualifying professional-level analytical work includes analysis, development, administration, and reporting in major programs and functions of an organization in the areas of budgets, contracts, grants, policy, or other functional areas related to the duties of positions in the 1823 Class series; AND

License and Certification

Possession of a valid California driver’s license (to be presented at time of appointment).  Employees must be insurable under the Port’s automobile liability insurance.  Insurability must be maintained throughout employment.

Education Substitution: Additional qualifying work experience as described above may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of 2 years (1 year of work experience is equal to 30 semester units or 45 quarter units).

San José Mineta International Airport is hiring for an Analyst I/II in its Planning and Development Division. This position reports directly to the Senior Analyst and is a crucial member of the Airport's Planning and Development Division. The Analyst is part of the fiscal team in the Planning and Development Division of the Airport. The Analyst's primary role is to support the development, monitoring, reporting and administration of the Division's annual operating budget and capital budget. The Analyst also serves as a liaison for coordination of the budget and financial information between multiple stakeholders including the Airport's Finance Division and the City's Budget Office. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or non directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Street Maintenance Operator II: This is the full journey level class within the Street Maintenance Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Street Maintenance Operator I by the assignment of the full range of duties assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
