The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking a Housing Assistant which is an entry level position in the Housing Programs series.  The incumbent will perform the full range of duties required to ensure that the Agency’s programs, activities, and services are effective and provide the highest level of customer satisfaction to the public.  The incumbent will provide support in the areas of general office duties such as reception, filing, scheduling, and data entry, as well as general program support in the areas of eligibility, lease up, client services, and owner services.

About the Position:  The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) Seasonal Ranger Aide is an entry-level position, which provides the opportunity to learn and perform some duties of a ranger under the guidance of experienced ranger staff. Ranger Aides provide visitor information and assistance, travelling by non-emergency Midpen vehicles and on foot throughout an assigned geographical region. Ranger Aides perform a variety of customer service duties such as educating and informing the public about Midpen land use regulations, public relations and provide general information services, but do not have law enforcement authority.  Ranger Aides will assist with routine maintenance work on Midpen land and facilities and may respond to assist with emergency calls. The start dates will be in or around late June/July 2024 and the selected individuals will continue working through February 2025.  See Job Description for additional information.

Requirements: Must have the ability to  learn Midpen lands, pertinent laws and regulations and contact, educate and inform the public about the lands and regulations ; administer first aid and CPR; operate and maintain various power tools and equipment; operate two-way radios; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; and other duties as assigned.

Certificates Needed: A valid California driver license is required upon appointment; valid professional rescuer CPR certificate and basic First Aid certificate (Midpen will offer training to candidates who do not possess CPR/First Aid certificates upon appointment).

Education & Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from high school. Six months experience working in a customer service related field.  Some experience or training in a parks settings is desirable.

Schedules:  This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work full-time (40 hours during the work week); however, school schedules may be accommodated.  Weekend work (Sat/Sun) is required, with two consistent days off each week (either Mondays/Tuesdays off OR Thursdays/Fridays off).  Incumbents will work an 8-hour workday (plus a 30-minute unpaid meal break). Daily start and end times will be the same for most workdays, typically scheduled within the range of 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Must be willing to work weekends, nights, holidays, or extended shifts and work with exposure to difficult circumstances, including exposure to challenging situations and upset individuals. Seasonal assignments will not exceed 950 hours or 7 months, whichever comes first, and do not include benefits

Working Conditions: Most work is outdoors within Midpen’s open space lands with exposure to inclement weather conditions. This requires the ability to patrol on foot, off trail, and in rugged terrain.  Also requires the ability to perform related emergency services and maintenance and construction work on Midpen lands. Once trained, Ranger Aides may work alone for parts or all of their shifts. Must wear prescribed District uniform and adhere to strict safety procedures and work habits.

PAL (Police Activities League) Program Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: PAL Program Attendants work with Suisun City’s PAL Program and with area teenagers ages 13-19 to implement educational and recreational activities: tutoring, sports, games, mini-excursions, competitions, contests, seminars, and special events, and provide general support to the program’s Recreation Supervisor. We’re looking for highly motivated people with a customer service orientation who genuinely enjoy helping others and who are flexible problem-solvers.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Senior Solid Waste Supervisor in the Zero Waste Division of the Public Works Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Zero Waste Operations Manager and the Solid Waste Supervisor(s) on a daily basis to ensure that all operations are carried out safely and in compliance with environmental obligations. In addition, this role oversees the onboarding and recurring training programs for Solid Waste Workers and Drivers; interacts with the Division Manager to implement initiatives, policies, and procedures; and works closely to resolve customer service issues that arise at the council level.

The Senior Solid Waste Supervisor also works closely with peers across all operations to ensure consistent safety and operational standards and performance. Furthermore, this position leads the implementation of new routing and customer data management systems, participates in equipment purchase committees, and determines the staffing and resources needed to achieve desired operational goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is equivalent to graduation from high school and five (5) years of increasingly responsible journey level experience in integrated solid waste collection, diversion and disposal which included two (2) years at the level equivalent to the Solid Waste Supervisor class.

Other requirements include possession of a valid class "C" California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Candidates must be willing to work evening, early morning, holidays, and weekend shifts. Candidates must report changes in status of driver’s license.

The BeautifySJ Program is a blight reduction, community and neighborhood beautification, and encampment management program within the Community Services Division of the Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services Department. BeautifySJ Programs include, the Graffiti Removal Program, Illegal Dumping Program, Neighborhood Dumpster Day Program, Neighborhood Litter Program, Recreational Vehicle Pollution Prevention Program, Encampment Trash removal Program, Clean Gateways and Cash for Trash Program.

The Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department is currently seeking to fill two temporary (Overstrength) full-time Community Activity Specialist vacancy in the BeautifySJ Prorgram. The position is currently funded through June 30, 2026. These two (2) Community Activity Specialist who will support the Encampment Management Team with the implementation of the no return/no encampment zone for encampments. In addition to this assignment, these two positions will assist the encampment abatement teams with weekly abatement activities including noticing encampments, referrals to partner departments for outreach, providing education on encampment setback areas. The position daily engagement with those residing in homeless encampments. Those selected for the positions can expect to work in-person, 40 hours per week with a typical in-person schedule of Monday-Friday.

The duties of this position will consist of:
 

• Posting encampment abatement notices at encampments
• Engaging with those who reside in homeless encampments to educate them on the "no return zone" and other encampment setbacks
• Working in and near homeless encampment locations
• Pilot and document best practices for a no-encampment zones
• Coordinate with city officials, other City Departments, law enforcement, and service providers to ensure a unified approach to clearing and managing encampments
• Coordinating resources and scheduling workload for efforts including but not limited to Secondary Employment Unit (SEU) requests and scheduling through SJPD outreach service requests to the Housing Department, etc.
• Process reports and data tracking through the Survey123 system

This Internship is offered as part of a Regional Internship Partnership to introduce and encourage new graduates to local municipal governments. Job Description: 

The intern’s workload will be a balance of assisting in daily municipal operations and special projects. Duties may include, but are not limited to proof reading, poster design, grassroots marketing, implementing events, organization of record management, benchmarking, photographing activities and research. The position will serve as a regular staff member and will receive assignments and work direction from the Community Services Supervisor. The primary goal of the internship program is to provide a college student or recent graduate an opportunity to apply their academic training in a municipal government setting. This paid internship provides hands-on experience in the daily operations of municipal government on all levels, thus enhancing the intern’s skills and résumé for a future profession in government.

• Current Undergraduate College Student or Bachelor’s degree in Community Services/Recreation or related fields
• Knowledge of principles and practices of organization and recreation

• Strong oral & written communication skills
• High level of computer skills
• Effective interpersonal skills as well as the ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the public

THE POSITION: 

The City of San Pablo is actively recruiting for a Community Services Coordinator I/II position to plan, organize, and direct services and programs within the Community Services Department for our senior population, volunteer programs and city-wide special events. Our senior programs provide opportunities for adults 50 years of age and older, to engage in active and healthy programming. The Church Lane Senior Center hosts a congregate lunch program, numerous senior focused special events, weekday door-to-door transportation service (managed by a different full-time coordinator) and drop- in programs and classes. The city hosts 10-12 city-wide special events each year that include family dances, spring egg hunt, Cinco de Mayo celebration, Movies Under the Stars, 4th of July Multi-Cultural celebration, Halloween, Veterans Day and a Winter Wonderland Festival. The Community Services Department relies heavily on volunteers for both special events and senior programs and wants to expand the volunteer recruitment and training program.
