THE POSITION:  The City of San Mateo’s Community Development Department has an opportunity for an intern to work on a number of projects. The Department, which has about 55 full time employees, includes the Building, Housing, Planning, Code Enforcement, & Business/Admin Divisions. The Management Analyst Intern will primarily support the Housing and Business/Admin Divisions and receive primary supervision from the Department’s Business Manager and Housing Manager, and project specific direction from the supervisor/manager primarily responsible for each specific project. The duration and start date of the internship are flexible, though summer interns typically start between mid-May and Mid-June. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  
•    BA/BS or Masters Candidate 
•    Strong analytical, writing and verbal skills; effective written and oral communication
•    Experience conducting research and data analyses
•    Able to work independently with direction from supervisor
•    Interest in learning more about a career in local government

DUTIES: The primary projects will most likely include the following: 
•    Market Research / Data Analysis. Support the research and help prepare findings report on fee schedules across multiple jurisdictions to help the Business Manager prepare for the 2025 comprehensive fee study. 
•    Contracts / Grant Administration. Support the Housing Division Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Permanent Local Housing Allocation (PLHA) administration of contracts and grant funds for nonprofit recipients.
•    Housing Element Compliance / Certification. Support the Housing Division with implementation of Housing Element policies and programs.
•    Community Relations Commission Support. Support the Community Relations Commission, under the direction of the commission liaison, in coordinating commission meeting, preparing documents for commission review, and preparing commission documents for approval and filing with the City Clerk.

In addition, the intern may work on a variety of other projects to support Community Development Department special projects and operations, depending upon need, availability and interest.

The Housing Department

The City of San Jose's Housing Department's mission is to strengthen and to revitalize the community through housing and neighborhood investments. The Housing Department has funded over 20,000 affordable apartments, oversees the Rent Stabilization Program that provides protection to both renters and mobile homeowners, and is implementing innovative programs to preserve restricted affordable apartments. The Housing Department also strives to make homelessness in San Jose rare, brief, and one-time, through the implementation of the Community Plan to End Homelessness. The Plan is a collaborative public-private partnership with the County of Santa Clara's Office of Supportive Housing, the Santa Clara Housing Authority, and Destination: Home, a nonprofit.      * Develop content for our Department's social media channels, website, and SharePoint site;

     * Support the Communications Team's public outreach via email and social media;

     * Manage the Department's photo library;

     * Manage the Department style guide and ensure all visuals produced by the Department comply with the City's brand guidelines;

     * Translate data and statistics about homelessness and affordable housing into relatable content via infographics and images;

     * Support multidisciplinary project teams that include policy experts and project managers from within and outside the Housing Department;

     * Produce the Department's annual report as well as reports for teams within the Department (e.g., Rent Stabilization Program, Homelessness Response Team); and

     * Support the Department's language access program and work with the City Manager's Office to ensure compliance with citywide language access policies.

The City of Berkeley is seeking a Housing Development Specialist (Community Development Project Coordinator)! In this role you will have the opportunity to be part of the team responsible for implementing the City’s Housing Trust Fund and Small Sites Programs. This position will work on renovations and new construction projects, the latter of which will include developments at the North Berkeley and Ashby BART sites. You'll work closely with nonprofit developers to underwrite project proposals, recommend funding, negotiate loan and regulatory agreements, and monitor project progress. You will also provide technical assistance and capacity building support to smaller, emerging developers.

Lead and/or supervisory experience is desirable.

A master's degree in a related program is desirable and can be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

Must be able to attend evening meetings. A valid California driver's license is desirable.

DEFINITION

Under limited direction, the Housing and Economic Development Manager directs and administers the division to which they are assigned. More specifically, the Housing and Economic Development and Housing Manager develops, coordinates, and implements the City’s housing and economic development programs and related activities; initiates key long range planning activities based on the City’s General Plan, Housing Element, Belmont Village Specific Plan, Economic Development Strategic Plan, and regional initiatives; provides housing and economic data to inform key policy decisionmakers; develops and implements marketing, branding and outreach activities for business engagement; and performs related duties as assigned. 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS 

The Housing and Economic Development Manager functions as manager over the Citywide area of practice to which they are assigned, i.e., housing/economic development activities and provides technical expertise to other City departments and related agencies. The Housing and Economic Development Manager is distinguished from the next lower classification of either Management Analyst I/II in that the former is a division level manager, with vast programmatic responsibilities, expected to function with limited supervision. 

The City of Santa Clara is recruiting for the Electric Utility Chief Operating Officer for its Electric Utility, Silicon Valley Power (SVP).  Reporting to the Chief Electric Utility Officer (CEUO), the Electric Utility Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior management position in the City's unclassified service responsible for the oversight and direction for the fiscal, administrative, and managerial operations of the utility. The COO has supervisory and support responsibilities for the utility's divisions: Utility Operations, Customer Development and Project Management, Resource Planning and Customer Engagement, and Business Services. The COO will help guide SVP through the extraordinary period of growth related by doubling the existing capacity of the electrical system to meet new customer demands over the next 10 years. In addition to the expansion, the COO will work to ensure new renewable resources are added to meet the City's and State’s climate goals. The COO is responsible for forecasting service requirements and for planning, organizing and directing assigned resources of the electric utility division in order to meet those requirements. This includes developing and administering the department operations and capital improvement budgets. The COO is expected to exercise critical thinking and detail oriented oversight in ensuring that utility operations are smooth, efficient, and compliant, with responsibility for results including costs, methods, and staffing.

THE POSITION

The City of Rocklin is looking for a seasoned IT professional with a passion for leading teams, driving innovation, and transforming City services through technology. The IT Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the City's strategies and ensuring alignment with the City's mission and objectives. This position will oversee and mentor a team of skilled IT professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture, but also actively participating in the day-to-day operational tasks and responsibilities of the team.

The IT Manager will be responsible for the following upcoming projects:

• Developing a strategic plan for the IT division to foster transparency, increase operational efficiency, improve staff satisfaction, and to bolster trust.
• Replacing the outdated document management and retention system.
• Investing in technology that supports economic development efforts.

An example of duties are:

• Manages, directs, and organizes projects, activities, and resources for the IT Division, including but not limited to networks, servers, workstations, hardware and software utilized throughout the City, IoT, mobile and telephony infrastructure, security systems, data transmission, telecommunication systems, Geographic Information Systems and full IT support for all areas in public safety.
• Assists the Director of Administrative Services or the Deputy Director of Administrative Services in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, and work standards for the City of Rocklin departments and procedures for IT governance, security, and administration.
• Participates in the development and administration of the division budget.
• Plans, organizes, supervises, and evaluates the activities of professional, technical and administrative staff; develops and manages the IT division staff including hiring, education, and training; reviews and evaluates job performance and effectively recommends personnel actions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Services or a closely related field;

AND

Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible infrastructure and enterprise applications management experience in an IT environment consisting of multiple platforms, large-scale applications with multiple operating systems which included a minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience.

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
• Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications are highly desirable.
