Definition: Preschool Site Coordinator

The City of Burlingame is looking for an enthusiastic, organized, creative, and responsible Preschool Site Coordinator. Under direction of a Recreation Supervisor, the Preschool Site Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Village Park Preschool ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. This role involves managing staff, coordinating programs, communicating with parents, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties

• Program Oversite
  • Coordinate with teachers and staff to ensure lesson plans, schedules, and classroom activities align with educational standards and goals.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of programs and make adjustments as needed to meet the needs of children and families.
  • Manage supply lists and shop for required materials.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.

TITLE: IT Operations Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY: The San Mateo County Transit District is seeking a highly technical IT Operations Supervisor to join our team. Under the supervision of the IT Operations Manager, the Supervisor will coordinate the efficient and effective operations of the Help Desk team for the District, including work direction and supervision of Help Desk staff and coordination with other District information technology staff. This position is responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work; documenting and gaining approval for all help desk support procedures and system documentation; and assisting team members in answering calls, addressing service or escalation issues, and applying independent decision making to resolve problems or escalate problems to management. The IT Operations Supervisor develops regular reports on help desk contacts, ensures that service levels are met, identifies trends and makes recommendations for service improvements, and provides budgetary recommendations to management for service growth and/or improvement.

IT Operations Supervisor will work closely with various users in San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans), the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain), and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) and other departments and is responsible for managing all procedures related to the identification, prioritization, and resolution of end user help requests, including the monitoring, tracking, and coordination of Help Desk functions. The role will also contribute to problem resolution by giving in-person, hands-on support to end users at the desktop level.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Supervise help desk support staff’s daily activities ensuring timely and professional delivery of technical support for calls on computers, core software products, and related hardware peripherals.
• Plan, organize, and direct the work of help desk support staff, including Help Desk Specialists; schedule shift coverage; evaluate and document performance and recommend disciplinary action when necessary; and review staff work for accuracy and timely completion of assigned duties.
• Act as the subject matter expert and point of contact in problem and major incident resolution.
• Document, track, and report on software and hardware malfunctions; ensure that detailed descriptions of user’s problems are documented in the ITSM; prioritize requests and label according to established procedures.
• Train help desk staff on areas of responsibility, new technology, and support procedures. Ensure help desk staff provides consistent, high-quality, and professional service, including communication and telephone skills.
• Proactively identify process improvement opportunities, including end-user training tools, onboarding, and documentation.
• Monitor help desk activities and respond to inquiries; provide technical troubleshooting, determine type of request, diagnose and provide solutions or escalate complex problems to appropriate personnel as required, and ensure proper problem notification procedures are being followed.
• Develop queries to track and follow-up on reported problems; notify users of completion of requests; ensure accurate contact and problem resolution records are maintained.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Tiny Tots Instructor will teach assigned classes of pre-school children ranging in ages from 18 months to 5 years old in enrichment, recreational and educational based programming (Tiny Tots Aide will assist).

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Develop and instruct weekly lesson plans (i.e. art, free play, enrichment, and circle time).

Swim Instructor - Lifeguard I/II

Position Details

Under close supervision, maintain constant watch over a public swimming pool facility to enforce regulations and prevent accidents, assist swimmers in distress and provide emergency and routine first aid. Create a safe and positive atmosphere for all participants and perform basic facility maintenance duties.

Examples of Duties

• Actively scan the pool, deck and locker rooms for safety and potential hazards and address the situation properly to remedy it
• Recognize and respond to emergencies in accordance with the facility emergency action plan
• Know and enforce all facility rules, policies, and procedures while providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all patrons
• Perform daily inspections or equipment and facility; correct and/or report any and all unsafe conditions to supervisor

Working Conditions

Work is at the Aquatics Center at San Bruno Park and is performed both indoors and out, with exposure to heat, sun, water, noise, dust, pollens and chemicals/cleaning agents used in an aquatics complex. There is potential for slip hazards when working near water and exposure to blood borne pathogens when rendering first aid. Working hours will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands

Supplemental Position Information:

Part-time temporary employees serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be dismissed at any time. This position does not provide any benefits, apart from paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes.  Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment. Employees may use up to 24 hours (or 3 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.

Cybersecurity and Risk Management

• Knowledge of risk-based cybersecurity best practices and a proactive approach to protecting the organization's data and systems from threats. 
• Understanding of IT risk management principles and compliance requirements.  

Vendor and Contract Management

• Experience in evaluating and selecting technology vendors and managing vendor relationships. 
• Expertise in large-scale software implementation and execution including, but not limited to, ERP, CRM, and board-level systems. 
• Skills in negotiating contracts and service level agreements to ensure optimal value and performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:  Completion of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate discipline. Applicants with a degree issued from an institution outside the United States must have their transcripts evaluated by an academic accrediting service and provide proof of equivalency along with their application.  Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience effectively leading and managing a division or department doing related work. Experience should include a minimum of four (4) years senior management experience in agency administration, operations, management or similar position. Managing administrative support services; budget development, analysis and management; business or public administration; presenting to boards, commissions and/or committees, responding to public inquiries and requests, reporting to executive management.

Preferred Experience:  At least 5-7 years in IT Management

License/Certificate:  Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and a safe driving record, or the ability to provide alternate transportation which is approved by the appointing authority.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Program Manager II in the Information Technology Department! In this role, you will perform as a technical portfolio manager overseeing staff assigned to function as project managers. You will be responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining an enterprise IT portfolio management program to ensure that IT projects and programs are planned and delivered according to business unit demands and priority. The Office of the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder and Chief Elections Officer is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Principal Appraiser.  Principal Appraisers must have thorough knowledge of Property Tax and the Revenue and Taxation Code as it relates to Real Property Valuation, Change in Ownership reassessment or exclusion requirements, New Construction valuation, Decline in Value valuation, Property Classification, etc.
 
The department currently has two vacancies in the areas of Residential and Commercial real property appraisal and assessment.
 
The Principal Appraisers share a critical role in assisting the Chief Appraiser and Deputy Assessor in the completion of the Office's mission to determine the assessed value of all taxable property located in San Mateo County, the creation of the official record of taxable property (approximately 240,000 assessments each year in the local assessment roll), and the sharing of this information with the County Controller and Tax Collector and making it publicly available.
 
This is an exciting time for seasoned Principal Appraisers to join our dynamic team of Appraisal professionals. The Assessor's Office is currently involved in several major projects, including the development of a new Assessor's Property Assessment System (APAS), and the appraisal and assessment of several large-scale new generation commercial, manufacturing, research and development, and mixed-use developments being built throughout San Mateo County.  Principal Appraisers may be called upon to provide subject matter expertise in the development of the Assessor's Property Assessment System.

 

Examples Of Duties

The technically-savvy and experienced individuals hired for these positions will have the responsibility to supervise appraisal and exemption staff in the timely collection, processing, and analysis of valuation data for real, personal, tangible, and intangible property for tax assessment purposes, and to manage the impact of the new regulations.
 

Additional responsibilities and duties of these Principal Appraisers will include (but are not limited to):

• Planning, organizing, training, supervising, reviewing, and evaluating the work of appraisal staff
• Providing advanced support in the most difficult, specialized, or high-value or high-risk appraisals
• Fostering professional growth and effective working relationships
• Managing, analyzing, and evaluating special projects
• Providing subject matter expert (SME) advice to IT analysts/team in the development of the new Assessor Property Assessment System

THE DEPARTMENT AND DIVISION
The mission of the Office of the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder and Chief Elections Officer is to ensure equitable treatment of County property owners by accurate and fair valuation of land, improvements, and businesses; to create an accurate public record of recorded transactions relating to people and property within San Mateo County; and to register County citizens to vote and efficiently conduct honest elections.
 
The Department is responsible for:

• The maintenance of 240,000 assessments and a local property tax roll of over $238 billion.
• The maintenance of County birth, death, and marriage records.
• The maintenance of over 3,000,000 recorded land records.
• The facilitation of local elections.
• The maintenance of the voter registration rolls representing over 330,000 County voters.

 
The Department is also responsible for a budget of $20 million, election billing to all jurisdictions, and 15 governmental trust funds.
 
 

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification: Acquisition within one year of appointment of a permanent Property Tax Appraiser Certificate issued by the California State Board of Equalization.  
 
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
 
The preferred qualifications include:

• A Bachelor's degree, and
• Six years of experience performing a full range of appraisals of tangible and taxable property, of which three years are for tax assessment purposes preferably with an Assessor's Office in California, and
• Experience appraising and assessing at least 3,000 or more residential properties, and
• Three years of experience with Assessment Appeals

Additional preferred qualifications include:
 

• Previous completion of advanced level courses offered by the California Board of Equalization and/or the Appraisal Institute
• Advanced Appraiser Certification issued by the State Board of Equalization.

Three years of experience as a Sr. Appraiser with San Mateo County Assessor's Office is considered qualifying experience.
 
The preferred and most highly qualified candidates will have experience in both the commercial and residential areas.
 
Specialized knowledge of Property Tax Rules and Regulations and Revenue and Taxation Code as they relate to Change in Ownership, Transfers, Assessments, etc., is a plus.
