The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Senior Solid Waste Supervisor in the Zero Waste Division of the Public Works Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Zero Waste Operations Manager and the Solid Waste Supervisor(s) on a daily basis to ensure that all operations are carried out safely and in compliance with environmental obligations. In addition, this role oversees the onboarding and recurring training programs for Solid Waste Workers and Drivers; interacts with the Division Manager to implement initiatives, policies, and procedures; and works closely to resolve customer service issues that arise at the council level.

The Senior Solid Waste Supervisor also works closely with peers across all operations to ensure consistent safety and operational standards and performance. Furthermore, this position leads the implementation of new routing and customer data management systems, participates in equipment purchase committees, and determines the staffing and resources needed to achieve desired operational goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is equivalent to graduation from high school and five (5) years of increasingly responsible journey level experience in integrated solid waste collection, diversion and disposal which included two (2) years at the level equivalent to the Solid Waste Supervisor class.

Other requirements include possession of a valid class "C" California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Candidates must be willing to work evening, early morning, holidays, and weekend shifts. Candidates must report changes in status of driver’s license.

This position performs a variety of work in the monitoring of county, state and federal detainees and maintains the security and safety of inmates and staff.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs booking procedures, including receiving, booking and assigning prisoners to cells; performing body searches; fingerprinting, and photographing prisoners, etc.
• Maintains custody of prisoners’ private property.
• Maintains the safe and orderly operation of the County jail facility; monitors security cameras and door warning lights; screens and monitors visitors. Inspects all of inmates’ incoming and outgoing mail and telegrams.
• Inspects facilities regularly.
• Monitors the condition and activities of prisoners.
• Prepares prisoners for court appearances; provides transportation as necessary.
• Administers First Aid in emergency situations.
• Performs general office work, including but not limited to entering computer data, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Prepares and submits required records and reports.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

This position will perform a variety of responsible law enforcement and crime prevention work, including patrolling assigned areas, answering calls and complaints, investigating crimes, serving civil papers, and providing court room security; enforce all federal and state laws and local ordinances related to public safety and welfare.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs routine patrol duties, including but not limited to patrolling assigned areas of the County; responding to emergency calls and/or public calls for assistance; investigating disturbances, prowlers, burglaries, thefts, vehicle accidents and other crimes; checking buildings for physical security, etc.

• Administers first aid in emergency situations.

• Issues traffic citations.

• Serves warrants, subpoenas and civil documents.

• Apprehends and arrests suspects and violent persons; transports prisoners; seizes property and/or criminal evidence; interrogates suspects, witnesses and complainants; gathers and preserves evidence.

• Assists with County search and rescue operations.

• Prepares various reports on investigations, including arrest and unusual incidents observed.

• Assists with criminal investigations as required.

• Prepares case files; testifies and presents evidence in court.

• Works with other law enforcement agencies in matters related to the investigation of crimes and apprehension of offenders.

• May serve as special duty officer as assigned, including responsibilities such as serving on the narcotics task force, serving as Deputy Coroner, providing court security, serving as school resource officer, serving as K-9 handler, serving on gang task force, etc.

• Participates in other special projects and programs as assigned.

• Performs duties related to crime prevention and community relations.

• Performs general administrative work, including but not limited to attending meetings, preparing correspondence and reports, entering computer data, maintaining files, answering the phone, etc..

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. Teen Director is required to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events. Approximately 15 hours per week with the potential for more hours.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

• Ability to engage with teens ages 1014.
• Minimum of two years' experience in childcare, educational or childhood development OR a degree in Education or Recreation.

POSITION INFORMATION

Livermore Area Recreation and Park District is currently recruiting  for Preschool Teachers  who are cheerful, child focused, and creative to plan themed based programs. This position will be responsible for planning curriculum, engaging in conversations with children (age 4 and 5), assist children in projects, supervise indoor and outdoor play, interact with parents, oversee the direction of the assigned teacher assistant, and be responsible for the overall safety of the children in the program.  

Minimum educational requirement: 12 ECE units in the core classes. Must have experience and understanding of working with preschool children. 

Schedule: This position will be three days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; 8:30 a.m- 1:00 p.m.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED, and 12 core units in college level coursework in child development; 24 core units are desirable.
• One-year relevant experience working in a childcare facility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, or tools and equipment used in assigned program area. Program activities may require sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; the ability to lift, carry, and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS

Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions.
