Are you a creative and enthusiastic person who thrives in a collaborative, positive learning environment? Do you want to gain valuable work experience and have fun? If so, consider becoming a Recreation Leader for the City of San Ramon's Summer Camps. The City’s Summer Camp Leaders provide leadership, program guidance and functional supervision to participants of Camp Central, Summer Teen Camps, or Sports Camps. These positions may be assigned to work at Central Park, Dougherty Station Community Center, Iron Horse Community Gym, Pine Valley Middle School or other locations throughout San Ramon.
What Does a Summer Camp Recreation Leader Do?
The Summer Camp Recreation Leader will bring their creativity and enthusiasm to:
Supervise and engage with program participants;
Facilitate and implement recreation activities according to a prepared curriculum;
Maintain a safe program environment and facility;
Respond to questions by the public concerning programs and Department activities;
Administers first aid as required and handles emergencies or out of the ordinary situations by notifying the proper authority or responder;
Open, close and secure program site
May supervise volunteers in program area
Provide recommendations for curriculum development and changes
Attend trainings and meetings
Lead groups in activities involving steep or rough terrain
Work outdoors in a variety of weather and temperature conditions
Lift at least 40 pounds
The Recreation Leader II provides leadership to Recreation Leader I and monitors the programs for day to day goals and activities.
Who Can Apply?
You must be at least 16 years of age on May 1, 2018
You will need to submit a negative skin test for TB that is dated within the past 2 years
The City will require appropriate clearance from Livescan fingerprinting and First Aid and CPR with AED certification due by the first day of employment
Experience working with children in a day camp, child care program, youth program or summer camp is a plus!
