INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TECHNICIAN II – HEADQUARTERS

40 HOURS PER WEEK – FULL TIME

 
We are seeking a customer service driven IT professional for our full-time Information Technology Technician II position, which will provide a variety of technical and information systems support and training throughout the library system.

Under general direction of the Information Technology Manager, this position is responsible for troubleshooting computer-related problems; installing, customizing, implementing and maintaining software, hardware and network configurations, and various systems; developing and delivering technical training related to the public services function; providing support for desktop computer applications, Internet/Intranet, self-service portals, web based applications, and email systems; participating in planning, designing, implementing, testing, and supporting new or modified automation systems; researching and reviewing new software and hardware; performing other duties as assigned.
 
 
TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to: 

• Performs complex technical and operational IT support work and systems administration and/or leads the work of others engaged in routine technical and operational IT support.
• Coordinates projects, personnel, and systems to facilitate access to the Library’s inter-networked computer systems.
• Inspects, troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves network and related system, hardware, software, and peripheral malfunctions.
• Provides technical support and assistance to personnel, librarians, and others concerning computer networks.

The City of Mill Valley is seeking a self-directed problem- solver with an entrepreneurial spirit, high standards of excellence, and demonstrated commitment to public service and program development.

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Coordinator II – Aquatics Safety manages the City’s Aquatics lifeguards and scheduling, including lap swim, water-walking, lifeguard certification, community CPR/First Aid classes and JR Lifeguard program.  This position also supervises all lifeguards, senior lifeguards and provides key assistance to the Recreation Supervisor on all related matters (works closely with Recreation Coordinator I- Aquatics programs to support division goals and activities).

The Aquatics & Fitness Center is a 7-day a week operation.

Recreation Coordinator II schedule may include Saturdays and Sundays and is subject to change depending on facility and supervisor needs. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Recruit, hire, manage, train, schedule, audit, discipline and evaluate staff, contractors, interns, and volunteers.
• Schedule and provide regular in-service training for aquatics staff.
• Schedule and provide regular class and certification offerings necessary to staff for the proper operation of a public pool facility.
• Manage and develop the swim lesson program to balance and meet the needs of the community and the goals of the Department.
• Plan, develop and implement programs and events.
• Evaluate the progress and effectiveness of scheduling and programming utilizing measurable outcomes.
• Coordinate with local police and fire agencies for emergency response protocols.
• Assist in the development of policies, procedures, contracts, and manuals for facility users and staff.
• Work with local organizations, businesses, school personnel, parents, and community members in developing recreational programs and activities.
• Maintain all personal certifications and be available to lifeguard, teach swim lessons, and otherwise supplement line staff when needed.
• Provide assistance and guidance to facility users, anticipate and resolve problems, provide quality customer service.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

THE POSITION:     

Under the direction of the Pool Manager, the Assistant Pool Manager is responsible for assigned aquatic program areas, and acts as Pool Manager during the Pool Manager’s absence. The Assistant Manager assists in the direction and supervision of the staff and programs at the facility. This is an at-will, intermittent, part-time, hourly position. Work a flexible work schedule, which may include evening, weekdays, weekends and holidays

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Acts as Pool Manager in the absence of same.
• Assist with pool staff assignments and scheduling.
• Perform lifesaving practices and standards according to accepted industry standards.
• Assist with training and supervision of staff and volunteers on assigned duties.
• Meet program goals and objectives, collect and maintain relevant statistical records and data.
• Acts in capacity of pool lifeguard.
• Assist in maintaining on-site security and safety of participants, staff, and others in the pool area, preparation and maintenance of incident records.
• Assist in organization, teaching and evaluation of swim lessons and pool activities.
• Enforce City and program rules and guidelines.
• Assist Pool Manager to monitor correct completion of required paperwork.
• Attend pertinent staff meetings as required during the season.
• Perform other program-related duties as assigned.

Under direct supervision of the Pool Supervisor, The Lifeguard has the responsibility to enforce the safety standards, rules, and regulations of the City’s Pool program; to rescue swimmers in distress and administer First Aid and CPR when it is needed; This position includes ensuring the safety of all pool patrons, be alert of all activities in and around the pool while on duty and to assist with general maintenance and cleanup activities and performs related work as required.  Work is performed in a swimming facility environment, with frequent contact with City staff and the public.  Multiple Lifeguard positions are available.

Tact and diplomacy; dependability; maturity; sufficient to assume the responsibility of protecting the lives of others; willingness to conform to prescribed uniform standards.  Unique physical characteristics include – physical strength, endurance, and agility necessary to perform lifesaving activities; visual acuity and hearing in each ear are sufficient to complete the job's essential functions.  Must be observant, friendly, helpful, enthusiastic, responsible, and work well in a team.  Must pass a general background check and fingerprinting to determine suitability for working with children.

Pre-Requisites (Any combination of training and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:)

1. 1. Lifeguard I – Completion of the 10th grade (Must be at Least 16 Years Old) and possession of advanced lifesaving or water safety Instructor’s Certificate.  Valid Driver’s License. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate.  American Red Cross First Aid (either multi-media, standard, or advanced).  American Red Cross or American Heart of Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate. 

1. 2. Lifeguard II – Graduation from high school and/or GED and experience as a lifeguard and possessing advanced lifesaving or water safety Instructor’s Certificate.  Valid Driver’s License. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate.  American Red Cross First Aid (either multi-media, standard, or advanced).  American Red Cross or American Heart of Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate.   

THE POSITION

Under general direction, supervises, evaluates, plans and participates in the day-to-day operations of the City’s wastewater treatment plant and facilities as well as the water system and infrastructure; assists in the preparation and administration of the division budget; evaluates and trains assigned staff; interfaces with and coordinates assigned functions with other City services and departments; represents wastewater treatment plant and water system operations with governmental regulatory agencies; ensures work quality and accuracy and safe work practices; serves as a technical resource for assigned work crews and the department Director; performs other management related duties as required. 

DISTINGUISING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Utilities Superintendent is part of the mid-management level class responsible for assigning and supervising the day-to-day operation, development, repair and maintenance of the City’s wastewater treatment plant and facilities as well as the water system and infrastructure. The incumbent is expected to perform the full scope of duties. This classification is distinguished from the higher classification of Director in that the latter is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the Department. FLSA status – exempt.
