The Marysville Police Department is recruiting for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher.

Public Safety Dispatchers are tasked with dispatching first responders including police, fire and medical services.

Salary Range is $150,000- $225,000 negotiable; depends on qualifications. 

The City Manager is the administrative head of the government of the City. Under the direction and control of the City Council, the City Manager is responsible for ensuring that the policy directions set forth by the City Council are carried out and the day-to-day operations of the City government run smoothly.

Some of the duties of the City Manager include:

• Plan, coordinate and direct the work of City departments; oversee community and economic development activities; organize public improvement projects and programs; develop and prepare administrative policies, procedures and work standards to ensure that the goals and objectives of the City are met and that mandated services are provided in an effective, efficient and economical manner.
• Oversee and monitor the City budget and provide information regarding the City's financial condition and needs to the City Council.
• Represent the City in meetings with governmental agencies, community groups and various businesses, professional, educational, regulatory and legislative organizations; act as the City liaison.
• Prepare the agenda for all regular, special or adjourned meetings of the City Council.
• Execute contracts authorized or approved by the City Council.
• Personnel and organizational responsibilities include selection, training, professional development and work evaluation of City staff; oversee the implementation of effective employee relations and related programs; oversees the City's risk management program; provide policy guidance and interpretation to staff; recommend reorganization efforts to meet the needs of the City; implement policy and procedural changes as required.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Community Development department is responsible for ensuring a sustainable and vibrant community that supports a high quality of life for residents, businesses and visitors. It includes the Building, Planning and Housing divisions, and core services include building permits, plan check, inspections, affordable housing administration and housing initiatives, as well as long-range planning and development review. The Building Division is responsible for managing the building permit, plan check and inspection processes for compliance with all applicable State laws, local municipal codes and related policies involving building construction, which requires a high level of customer service with the public and coordination within and across departments and agencies.

THE POSITION

The Building Official oversees the development of programs, projects, operations, and services of the Building Division, and is a part of the Community Development management team. This position will manage a 13-member team, including a Permit Manager, Building Permit Technicians, Plan Check Engineer, and Building Inspectors, and will receive general direction from the Assistant Community Development Director or the Community Development Director. Successful performance in this role requires professional and technical skills in the core functional areas of permitting, plan checking and building inspections, as well as knowledge of public policy and municipal services, and excellence in communication and leadership. The individual must be able to assess the current needs of the department and look for innovative ways to help the department advance to improve service delivery and meet the changing needs of the community. This will require guiding modifications to the City’s land management permitting system (Accela) to improve processes, enhance customer service and monitor data.

With the adoption of the General Plan Update in 2016 and, most recently, the Housing Element zoning-related changes, the City is expected to see physical change as plans come to fruition. A key priority for this position will be overseeing the building permit process for a diverse range of projects from tenant improvements to new single-family residential construction to hotels to large-scale, comprehensive planned mixed-use campuses. Currently, the City has approximately 775 residential units and 260,000 square feet of life science uses under construction, with over 2,000 residential units, two hotels and more than 1.8 million square feet of commercial square footage approved, but not yet under construction, along with a number of large development projects currently under review. This position performs a variety of work in the monitoring of county, state and federal detainees and maintains the security and safety of inmates and staff.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs booking procedures, including receiving, booking and assigning prisoners to cells; performing body searches; fingerprinting, and photographing prisoners, etc.
• Maintains custody of prisoners’ private property.
• Maintains the safe and orderly operation of the County jail facility; monitors security cameras and door warning lights; screens and monitors visitors. Inspects all of inmates’ incoming and outgoing mail and telegrams.
• Inspects facilities regularly.
• Monitors the condition and activities of prisoners.
• Prepares prisoners for court appearances; provides transportation as necessary.
• Administers First Aid in emergency situations.

This position will perform a variety of responsible law enforcement and crime prevention work, including patrolling assigned areas, answering calls and complaints, investigating crimes, serving civil papers, and providing court room security; enforce all federal and state laws and local ordinances related to public safety and welfare.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs routine patrol duties, including but not limited to patrolling assigned areas of the County; responding to emergency calls and/or public calls for assistance; investigating disturbances, prowlers, burglaries, thefts, vehicle accidents and other crimes; checking buildings for physical security, etc.

• Issues traffic citations.

• Serves warrants, subpoenas and civil documents.

Job Description:  

The City Manager’s Office has a full-time, 40 hours per week, non-benefited summer internship opportunity. The main function of the job is to perform municipal research and analytical work on an entry level professional basis.

The workload will be a balance of assisting in daily municipal operations and special projects. Duties may include, but are not limited to town-wide capital inventory, risk management, citizens’ requests, record management, benchmarking, policy analysis and research, and govern a technology assessment. The position will serve as a regular staff member, and will receive assignments and work direction from the Management Analyst and City Manager. The primary goal of the internship program is to provide a recent graduate an opportunity to apply their academic training in a municipal government setting. THE POSITION:  The City of San Mateo’s Community Development Department has an opportunity for an intern to work on a number of projects. The Department, which has about 55 full time employees, includes the Building, Housing, Planning, Code Enforcement, & Business/Admin Divisions. The Management Analyst Intern will primarily support the Housing and Business/Admin Divisions and receive primary supervision from the Department’s Business Manager and Housing Manager, and project specific direction from the supervisor/manager primarily responsible for each specific project. The duration and start date of the internship are flexible, though summer interns typically start between mid-May and Mid-June. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  
•    BA/BS or Masters Candidate

DUTIES: The primary projects will most likely include the following: 
•    Market Research / Data Analysis. Support the research and help prepare findings report on fee schedules across multiple jurisdictions to help the Business Manager prepare for the 2025 comprehensive fee study. 
•    Contracts / Grant Administration. Support the Housing Division Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Permanent Local Housing Allocation (PLHA) administration of contracts and grant funds for nonprofit recipients.
•    Housing Element Compliance / Certification. Support the Housing Division with implementation of Housing Element policies and programs.
•    Community Relations Commission Support. Support the Community Relations Commission, under the direction of the commission liaison, in coordinating commission meeting, preparing documents for commission review, and preparing commission documents for approval and filing with the City Clerk.

In addition, the intern may work on a variety of other projects to support Community Development Department special projects and operations, depending upon need, availability and interest.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system.
