The Department of Public Works is seeking to fill a vacant Senior Architect/Landscape Architect position.

Public Works' City Facilities Architectural Services (CFAS) Division has the primary responsibility for the delivery of capital improvements for City-owned facilities including for recreational facilities, parks, trails, libraries, public safety facilities, and various cultural facilities. CFAS is recruiting for a Senior Landscape Architect to lead a section dedicated to providing landscape architectural services to the full range of City projects largely focused on the design and construction of park and recreation projects.

The incumbent will supervise a Section, with a staff of up to six professionals, which is responsible for the design and implementation of landscape architectural projects meeting functional programs and aesthetic objectives , within budgetary and schedule parameters . The incumbent is responsible for functions such as planning, cost estimating and scheduling future projects; coordinating with partners and developers reviewing and providing feedback on master plans, cost estimates, park design plans for City standards and code compliance, and construction management and inspection coordination; implementing a program of capital projects ranging in size and complexity from minor renovations to major new facilities including notable, high-profile projects, such as a regional soccer complex, skate parks, and the extensive remediation and restoration of existing city parks.

• Plans, assigns, directs and evaluates the work of professional and sub professional employees on major projects. The City of San José is recruiting for a Finance Applications Associate IT Manager (Enterprise Principal Technology Analyst) in the Information Technology Department. This position is responsible for the management and support of the City's enterprise Finance Management System, Revenue Management/Collection System, and Finance Reporting System. JOB SUMMARY: The San Mateo County Transit District is seeking a highly technical IT Operations Supervisor to join our team. Under the supervision of the IT Operations Manager, the Supervisor will coordinate the efficient and effective operations of the Help Desk team for the District, including work direction and supervision of Help Desk staff and coordination with other District information technology staff. This position is responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work; documenting and gaining approval for all help desk support procedures and system documentation; and assisting team members in answering calls, addressing service or escalation issues, and applying independent decision making to resolve problems or escalate problems to management. The IT Operations Supervisor develops regular reports on help desk contacts, ensures that service levels are met, identifies trends and makes recommendations for service improvements, and provides budgetary recommendations to management for service growth and/or improvement.

IT Operations Supervisor will work closely with various users in San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans), the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain), and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) and other departments and is responsible for managing all procedures related to the identification, prioritization, and resolution of end user help requests, including the monitoring, tracking, and coordination of Help Desk functions. The role will also contribute to problem resolution by giving in-person, hands-on support to end users at the desktop level.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Supervise help desk support staff’s daily activities ensuring timely and professional delivery of technical support for calls on computers, core software products, and related hardware peripherals.
• Plan, organize, and direct the work of help desk support staff, including Help Desk Specialists; schedule shift coverage; evaluate and document performance and recommend disciplinary action when necessary; and review staff work for accuracy and timely completion of assigned duties.

Duties include complex data input and retrieval processes requiring extreme accuracy; providing services to the community; and performing related work as required. O.S.S.D. operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

The Police Department provides a six-month training program. During a one-year probationary period, incumbents complete the training program and a subsequent six months of on-the-job training. This includes but is not limited to a demonstrated proficiency of all aspects of Operations Support Services Division's responsibilities. While on probation, candidate performance is rated on a daily basis by experienced Police Data Specialists, Senior Police Data Specialists and/or other supervisors. The workweek may consist of four workdays of 10.5 hours followed by 3 consecutive days off or five workdays of 8.5 hours followed by 2 consecutive days off. Each workday includes two paid 15 minute breaks and a 1/2 hour unpaid meal breaks. OSSD employees wear uniforms. This position is eligible for a uniform allowance which will not exceed $500.00 annually. Payments shall be made during the first two (2) pay periods of each month, in the amount of $20.83 per biweekly pay period. Trainees are expected to purchase and begin wearing their uniforms by the start of the 16th week of training.

Trainees are rotated through different units of OSSD and will be assigned to various shifts (Day, Swing and Midnight) and days off. New PDS's should expect to work night shifts, weekends and holidays. A shift differential of $2.25 per hour for Swing Shift and $2.50 per hour for Midnight shift is added to the base salary and compensatory time or pay will be granted for holiday work in accordance with the memorandum of agreement between the City of San Jose and the Municipal Employees Federation.

After training, PDS's bid for assignments, shifts (day, swing or midnight) and days off every six months in order of seniority as a Police Data Specialist. Senior employees typically select preferred shifts and days off and may have the option of a five day work week and/or alternate start times available to them. New employees may work nights, weekends and holidays for several years before they attain the seniority required to bid for more desirable assignments, shifts, days off and/or start times.

The Enterprise GIS team operates out of the Department of Public Works but works across the City to coordinate GIS efforts, lead multi-departmental GIS projects, geospatially-enable City business systems, and administer Enterprise GIS infrastructure for citywide use. The City has standardized on a modern technology stack consisting of Windows Server, Esri ArcGIS platform, VertiGIS Studio, Safe Software FME, and SQL Server enterprise geodatabases. The City has an enterprise license agreement with Esri, and the Enterprise GIS team maintains a large Enterprise GIS server environment with public and internal-facing ArcGIS Server instances, complementary ArcGIS Portal and ArcGIS Online organizations, an SDE environment featuring a data catalog with over 1000 feature classes, and integrations with dozens of business systems. This GIS ISA position will function as a Geocortex/ VertiGIS developer and will be primarily responsible for managing the VertiGIS environment and developing mapping applications and workflows within VertiGIS Studio .

The ISA is a professional-level position in the IT professional management series and responsible for GIS system administration, database design, business system integration, application development, and implementation of large-scale enterprise projects. The position requires strong technical experience as well as the ability to take initiative and direct others. The ideal candidate must be a strong individual contributor that is able to take full ownership of projects, designing solutions in alignment with City Enterprise GIS standards and industry best practices and working at a hands-on level to build, implement, and support such solutions. • Upgrade/rebuild existing Geocortex Essentials 4.x sites/viewers, workflows, reports, and print templates or ArcGIS Web Application Builder (WAB) applications on the VertiGIS Studio 5.x platform.

• Meet with business owners and end users to gather and document requirements and prepare and present solution design. Design, build, and deploy mapping applications and/or enhancements. Provide documentation, training, and support to end users.
• Establish and document best practices and standards for VertiGIS Studio applications and components and provide training/support to other City GIS staff looking to leverage VertiGIS Studio.
• Assist with administration of the City's ArcGIS Enterprise (ArcGIS Server and Portal) environments and enterprise geodatabases, and support other Enterprise GIS projects and initiatives as needed.

In addition, this position is part of a team responsible for providing GIS support in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) when activated .

More About You

About the Position:  Midpen's Board approved the addition of two new Planner III positions to the Planning Department. The Planner III focuses on a wide variety of planning and capital improvement projects that include long-range planning; land use planning; and conceptual site design to increase public access, outdoor recreation, and enjoyment of Midpen’s lands. The Planner III is tasked with performing complex professional level planning, analysis, and design; developing and administering project scopes, schedules and budgets; directing the feasibility and conceptual design phase of capital improvement projects such as trails, staging areas and staff facilities; developing recommendations for land use policies; preparing long-range master plans to guide the use and management of Midpen lands; conducting or overseeing studies to identify and evaluate environmental issues related to public access and natural and cultural resources; conducting public outreach and engagement; preparing requests for proposals; assisting in development of grant applications; preparing and/or assisting in the preparation of environmental review documents; and obtaining planning permits and initial approvals for projects. Work Environment:  This position is part of the Planning Department at the District’s offices in Los Altos, California.  Planner III project presentations may be held in the evenings and weekends. In addition to working in the office, the Planner III will sometimes work in the field and hike through steep terrain and wildland areas.  Field work will require driving in remote areas on dirt roads, working in temperatures ranging from cold and blustery to hot and dry. Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in these types of field conditions, as well as in an office environment. Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule for this position, which includes a 9/80 schedule.

Education and Experience:  Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:  Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in urban or regional planning, environmental planning or design, environmental sciences, landscape architecture or a related field, and at least three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience with five (5) years desired in project management (design, planning or environmental review projects), preferably in parks, open space or related field, including at least one (1) year of direct supervisory and administrative responsibility (which can include management of consultant team). 

Licenses & Certifications Required:   Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
