The City of San José is recruiting for a Finance Applications Associate IT Manager (Enterprise Principal Technology Analyst) in the Information Technology Department. This position is responsible for the management and support of the City's enterprise Finance Management System, Revenue Management/Collection System, and Finance Reporting System. This position combines managerial and leadership responsibilities along with hands-on technical expertise to deliver day-to-day system operations. Key job duties are service level management, including service level agreements (SLAs) and Incident Management, as well as delivery of smaller projects and system enhancements. The Finance Applications Associate IT Manager is also responsible for resource and performance management of the Finance Applications IT Team.

Salary Information: The final candidate's qualifications and experience shall determine the actual salary. The Community Development Department is seeking enthusiastic and customer-service oriented candidates for the position of Permit Technician.

Under general supervision, the Permit Technician will perform specialized work associated with the processing of building permits and clerical work involving a substantial degree of judgment and initiative; and to do related work as required. This class is assigned to the Building Inspection Division of the Community Development Department.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Community Development department is responsible for ensuring a sustainable and vibrant community that supports a high quality of life for residents, businesses and visitors. It includes the Building, Planning and Housing divisions, and core services include building permits, plan check, inspections, affordable housing administration and housing initiatives, as well as long-range planning and development review. The Building Division is responsible for managing the building permit, plan check and inspection processes for compliance with all applicable State laws, local municipal codes and related policies involving building construction, which requires a high level of customer service with the public and coordination within and across departments and agencies.

THE POSITION

The Building Official oversees the development of programs, projects, operations, and services of the Building Division, and is a part of the Community Development management team. This position will manage a 13-member team, including a Permit Manager, Building Permit Technicians, Plan Check Engineer, and Building Inspectors, and will receive general direction from the Assistant Community Development Director or the Community Development Director. Successful performance in this role requires professional and technical skills in the core functional areas of permitting, plan checking and building inspections, as well as knowledge of public policy and municipal services, and excellence in communication and leadership. The individual must be able to assess the current needs of the department and look for innovative ways to help the department advance to improve service delivery and meet the changing needs of the community. This will require guiding modifications to the City’s land management permitting system (Accela) to improve processes, enhance customer service and monitor data.

With the adoption of the General Plan Update in 2016 and, most recently, the Housing Element zoning-related changes, the City is expected to see physical change as plans come to fruition. A key priority for this position will be overseeing the building permit process for a diverse range of projects from tenant improvements to new single-family residential construction to hotels to large-scale, comprehensive planned mixed-use campuses. Currently, the City has approximately 775 residential units and 260,000 square feet of life science uses under construction, with over 2,000 residential units, two hotels and more than 1.8 million square feet of commercial square footage approved, but not yet under construction, along with a number of large development projects currently under review. The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Building Inspector to provide building construction inspections. Depending on the applicant qualifications, the position will be filled at the appropriate level/salary of either a Building Inspector I or Building Inspector II.

Position Summary

Under supervision of the Ironworker Superintendent, performs structural maintenance, repair and construction for the Golden Gate Bridge and other District facilities as required. Following plans and specifications, lays-out and fabricates a wide range of items.

Essential Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance, repair and construction for the Golden Gate Bridge and other District facilities including, but not limited to, the following: 
  1. Maintenance, repair, and replacement of steel components and fasteners. 
  2. Rigging for other crafts. 
  3. Installs and repairs of chain link and other fencing. 
  4. Shop fabrication of steel items and erection of structural and miscellaneous steel items. 
  5. Placement of reinforcing steel for concrete. 
  6. Maintenance of toll collection facilities and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Completion of Ironworker’s Apprenticeship. Four years’ Structural Ironworker experience required; welding and shop fabrication experience desirable. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for completion of an Ironworker Apprenticeship Program; applicants substituting additional qualifying experience for an Ironworker Apprenticeship Program should attach a statement supporting the additional qualifying experience. 

Required License: Must possess and maintain a current, valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record. No reckless driving and DUI infractions within the last 7 years. No more than 2 moving violations within the last 3 years. May operate District vehicles.

Physical Requirements:  Must be able to perform heavy manual labor. Work is performed outside in varying weather conditions. Must be able to stoop, bend, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. Will be required to wear a respirator, or other personal protective equipment involving full body protection. Must be able to work comfortably at considerable heights from platforms, ladders, floats or suspended scaffolds; climb and walk on the Bridge cables; and climb ladders.

THE POSITION:  The City of San Mateo’s Community Development Department has an opportunity for an intern to work on a number of projects. The Housing Department

The City of San Jose's Housing Department's mission is to strengthen and to revitalize the community through housing and neighborhood investments. The Housing Department has funded over 20,000 affordable apartments, oversees the Rent Stabilization Program that provides protection to both renters and mobile homeowners, and is implementing innovative programs to preserve restricted affordable apartments. JOB SUMMARY: The San Mateo County Transit District is seeking a highly technical IT Operations Supervisor to join our team. Under the supervision of the IT Operations Manager, the Supervisor will coordinate the efficient and effective operations of the Help Desk team for the District, including work direction and supervision of Help Desk staff and coordination with other District information technology staff. This position is responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work; documenting and gaining approval for all help desk support procedures and system documentation; and assisting team members in answering calls, addressing service or escalation issues, and applying independent decision making to resolve problems or escalate problems to management. The IT Operations Supervisor develops regular reports on help desk contacts, ensures that service levels are met, identifies trends and makes recommendations for service improvements, and provides budgetary recommendations to management for service growth and/or improvement.

IT Operations Supervisor will work closely with various users in San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans), the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain), and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) and other departments and is responsible for managing all procedures related to the identification, prioritization, and resolution of end user help requests, including the monitoring, tracking, and coordination of Help Desk functions. The role will also contribute to problem resolution by giving in-person, hands-on support to end users at the desktop level.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Supervise help desk support staff’s daily activities ensuring timely and professional delivery of technical support for calls on computers, core software products, and related hardware peripherals.
• Plan, organize, and direct the work of help desk support staff, including Help Desk Specialists; schedule shift coverage; evaluate and document performance and recommend disciplinary action when necessary; and review staff work for accuracy and timely completion of assigned duties.

SUPERVISION: Works under the general supervision of the IT Operations Manager who establishes goals and objectives and evaluates performance.

The San José Police Department is dedicated to providing public safety through community partnerships and 21st Century Policing practices, ensuring equity for all. The Department is committed to treating all of San Jose's diverse community members with dignity, fairness, and respect, while protecting their rights and providing equal protection under the law.The Police Data Specialist (PDS) position is an entry level training position in the Operations Support Services Division (O.S.S.D.) of the Police Department. Under close supervision, Police Data Specialists learn to perform specialized technical work utilizing automated law enforcement information systems that lend support to sworn personnel and other department members. Duties include complex data input and retrieval processes requiring extreme accuracy; providing services to the community; and performing related work as required. O.S.S.D. operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

The Police Department provides a six-month training program. During a one-year probationary period, incumbents complete the training program and a subsequent six months of on-the-job training. This includes but is not limited to a demonstrated proficiency of all aspects of Operations Support Services Division's responsibilities. While on probation, candidate performance is rated on a daily basis by experienced Police Data Specialists, Senior Police Data Specialists and/or other supervisors. Those who pass probation receive a pass/fail proficiency examination. Upon passing the examination, incumbents will be promoted to the position of Police Data Specialist II.

The workweek may consist of four workdays of 10.5 hours followed by 3 consecutive days off or five workdays of 8.5 hours followed by 2 consecutive days off. Each workday includes two paid 15 minute breaks and a 1/2 hour unpaid meal breaks. OSSD employees wear uniforms. This position is eligible for a uniform allowance which will not exceed $500.00 annually. Payments shall be made during the first two (2) pay periods of each month, in the amount of $20.83 per biweekly pay period. Trainees are expected to purchase and begin wearing their uniforms by the start of the 16th week of training.

Trainees are rotated through different units of OSSD and will be assigned to various shifts (Day, Swing and Midnight) and days off. New PDS's should expect to work night shifts, weekends and holidays. A shift differential of $2.25 per hour for Swing Shift and $2.50 per hour for Midnight shift is added to the base salary and compensatory time or pay will be granted for holiday work in accordance with the memorandum of agreement between the City of San Jose and the Municipal Employees Federation.

After training, PDS's bid for assignments, shifts (day, swing or midnight) and days off every six months in order of seniority as a Police Data Specialist. Senior employees typically select preferred shifts and days off and may have the option of a five day work week and/or alternate start times available to them. New employees may work nights, weekends and holidays for several years before they attain the seniority required to bid for more desirable assignments, shifts, days off and/or start times.
