THE POSITION:  The City of San Mateo’s Community Development Department has an opportunity for an intern to work on a number of projects. •    Contracts / Grant Administration. Support the Housing Division Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Permanent Local Housing Allocation (PLHA) administration of contracts and grant funds for nonprofit recipients.
•    Housing Element Compliance / Certification. Support the Housing Division with implementation of Housing Element policies and programs.
•    Community Relations Commission Support. Support the Community Relations Commission, under the direction of the commission liaison, in coordinating commission meeting, preparing documents for commission review, and preparing commission documents for approval and filing with the City Clerk.

In addition, the intern may work on a variety of other projects to support Community Development Department special projects and operations, depending upon need, availability and interest.

DEFINITION

Under limited direction, the Housing and Economic Development Manager directs and administers the division to which they are assigned. Qualifications

Certification Requirement:
Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate or a certificate of completion or degree from an accredited medical assisting program is required. A certificate of completion of an approved medical assisting program must be submitted at the time of application.

Job Description

Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician supports the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients served by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Assists registered pharmacists in performing nonprofessional duties in an institutional pharmacy; receives, inspects, stores, and fills orders for pharmaceutical supplies. Nature of work involves continuous close attention to detail and some potential exposure to hazardous substances.

Under supervision, the Pharmacy Technician performs the following essential job functions:

• Accurately prepares unit dose medications, compounds a variety of pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Pharmacist, including intravenous admixtures according to proper aseptic technique and in accordance with, professional standards and departmental policies and procedures, in order to maintain required levels of supply and to provide patients with needed medications;

Edison Clinic provides comprehensive patient-centered HIV primary care services to persons living with HIV (PLWH) within San Mateo County as well as provides services in diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) to all San Mateo county residents. The Mobile Health Clinic/Street and Field Medicine program provides field-based medical care focusing on homeless, formerly incarcerated, and farmworker/farmworker family member individuals. The program provides medical care in the field at encampments and homeless congregation sites, homeless shelter, peripheral sites outside of San Mateo County Clinics, and on a mobile medical clinic vehicle that parks at scheduled sites throughout the county.

The San Mateo Medical Center is a public hospital and clinic system fully accredited by the Joint Commission. The Medical Center operates outpatient clinics throughout San Mateo County and also an acute-care hospital. We serve the healthcare needs of County residents, serving as the healthcare home for underserved and underinsured residents, with an emphasis on education and prevention. Under general supervision, Nurse Practitioners will provide services such as conducting complete physical examinations, developing diagnostic impressions, and managing care of patients working in one or more specialty areas, such as geriatric, pediatric, family health, or OB/GYN practice.
