We are now actively recruiting for one (1) part-time Behavioral Health Advocate I position within our Wellness Center, Tri-City's community hub for activities that promote recovery, resiliency and wellness for people confronting mental health challenges. 

The Behavioral Health Advocate I position provides advocacy, guidance, feedback, outreach and support to help families to access and work more effectively with the systems involved.   These positions report to a Program Supervisor.

This position will perform the following essential duties, including, but not limited to:

• Provides peer to peer support services in the office and/or in the field including, but not limited
  to outreach, support, encouragement, guidance, advocacy, and referrals to external resources
  and services for clients and their families; builds rapport with clients and their families through
  sharing stories of lived experience and recovery.

• Encourages and supports clients to fully engage in services; provides outreach and assists
  clients in addressing and overcoming barriers to treatment.

• Prepares and facilitates a variety of wellness groups and group activities; monitors groups to ensure compliance with group rules and encourages client participation.

• Assists clients and families to understand behavioral health problems and steps to recovery.

• Serves as a role model to build and sustain connections and relationships with clients and the
  community.

• Accompanies clients to meetings and appointments to support their self-advocacy and
  facilitate better communication with service providers.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Role Description

As a Clinical Psychologist for the County Adult Assistance Program(CAAP), you will conduct professional-level work in screening and assessing CalWORKS and CAAP clients to identify and document disabling mental health conditions and associated functional limitations that enable them to qualify for Social Security Benefits.

Essential Duties Include:

• Conducts screening and assessment of clients with mental health related complaints, collateral interviews with primary care and behavioral health staff, and medical records review to support clients’ application for Social Security Benefits.
• Selects, administers, scores, and interprets appropriate psychological tests of intelligence, personality, aptitude, achievement, interest and other specialized areas and conducts diagnostic clinical interviews with emotionally disturbed, mentally ill, chemically dependent, and intellectually disabled adults to assess their impairments to provide medical evidence in support of clients’ application for Social Security Benefits as needed.
• Prepares psychological reports presenting diagnostic findings, interview findings, functional assessments, clinical evaluations, and recommendations for the Clients’ SSI eligibility.
• Reviews and evaluates psychological, psychiatric and/or neuropsychological data and case material.
• Provides education, consultation, and information to community providers, and CAAP’s multi-disciplinary team on adult adjustment problems, mental illness, chemical dependence, culturally relevant services, and other topics related to SSI eligibility.
• Supervises psychology interns and subordinate clinical staff not including class 2574 Clinical Psychologist; conducts staff training programs both within the clinic or unit and for line agency personnel.

MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT I

This is a temporary part-time position:  Approximately 20-40 hours per week depending on the needs of the department.

Position:         Per Diem Maintenance Assistant I

Salary:             $19.71 – $22.50 hourly (depending on experience)

THE POSITION: Under close supervision, perform unskilled manual and semi-skilled manual park maintenance work, and perform related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

• Cleaning restrooms, emptying garbage cans
• Removing weeds and trash from parks
• Assist in mowing, edging, pruning, fertilizing, and seeding
• Perform a wide variety of general grounds and facility maintenance work including raking leaves, cleaning walkways, removing debris, cleaning restrooms, and related work.
• Water, weed, prune, renovate, and landscaped areas.
• Turf care including mowing, thatching, fertilizing, plugging, and installation of new turf areas.
• Prepare soil and plant flowerbeds, shrubs, and landscape areas, including staking, fertilizing and other necessary procedures.
• Utilize a wide variety of hand and power tools and landscape maintenance equipment.
• Move and install park and recreation equipment.
• Assist in loading, transporting, and unloading equipment, materials, debris, and other heavy objects related to maintenance.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The incumbent should have the ability to read, write, and carry out oral and written directions, maintain cooperative work relationships, and operate various park maintenance equipment. Individuals must possess a valid California Driver’s License and a good driving record (recent DMV printout required). This is seasonal work which will include weekends and holidays depending on the needs of the department.

Covid-19 Vaccination Requirement:

The City of Redwood City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Department is looking for people interested in working approximately 15-20 hours per week, working the special events programs operated by the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department.  Incumbents will typically assist in setting up, monitoring, and breaking down the events all while providing excellent customer service to visitors.

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Follow event plan and execute assigned duties effectively and efficiently; monitor or manage interactive recreation areas which may include, but are not limited to, arts and crafts, organized games, sports, drama, social recreation, and music/singing activities; supervise recreation participants insuring that proper safety precautions are observed in assigned activities; maintain and care for equipment as appropriate to help promote recreation activities effectively; assist in organizing, promoting, and managing special events; assist in setting up, monitoring, and breaking down the events; report to supervisors orally and in writing; complete assigned paperwork such as timecards, attendance reports and/or incident and accident reports; perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The Program Leader I (Special Events) is responsible for presenting the service oriented, positive, and enthusiastic mission of the City of Redwood City.  The ideal candidate will enjoy promoting a variety of recreation activities.  The ideal candidate will also have the ability to multi-task, and demonstrate excellent leadership and customer service methods and practices.
