Description
We have ONE immediate Distribution System Operator internship available with the District in the area of Water Distribution. Assignments are for a 40 hour week. Optional work schedules or reduced hours (i.e. part-time) may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Duration of assignment is for up to six (6) months. Position will operate out of MMWD’s Corte Madera location (Water Distribution).
The Position
Distribution System Operator Intern: (1 position) Under the direct supervision of a certified water distribution operator, learn how to operate and maintain mechanical, electrical and control equipment. Perform inspections of mechanical and electrical equipment. Assist operators in handling consumer calls. Assist field personnel with confined space entries. Learn the basics of a potable water distribution system. Safety Boots required. Work hours are M-F 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. This position is for up to a six (6) month duration at the Corte Madera location.
Desired Background: Must be 18 years old or older.
Candidate must have current or recent enrollment in one of the following college level courses of study:
▪ Drinking Water Treatment or Distribution ▪ Wastewater Treatment ▪ Environmental Science ▪ Biology ▪ Chemistry Candidate should possess genuine interest in a career in the waterworks field. Must be detail oriented, possess good problem solving skills, ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.
Due to the driving requirements of some positions, a DMV driving history may be required if applicant moves forward in the process. Must be 18 years old or older to apply for these internship opportunities.
