The City of San Rafael Public Works Department (DPW) is seeking an individual to join the team as part of the Honorary Dean Allison Internship program. This position will work part-time (up to 4 days/30 hours per week) with department staff on special projects and move forward the mission of San Rafael to support the community members we serve. 

The Honorary Dean Allison Internship was created to honor Dean Allison, the City’s Public Works Director from September 2015 to March 2016, before his untimely passing. In his brief time with the City, he embraced and embodied the ideals of public service and transparency. Dean focused on the needs of the public and worked effectively with individuals and groups throughout San Rafael to respond decisively to a broad spectrum of needs both large and small in a creative and community focused way. The namesake internship celebrates his life and his time serving the citizens of San Rafael.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Honorary Dean Allison Internship may include:

• Assisting staff to develop and implement the City’s sidewalk maintenance program.
• Drafting, iterating, and designing policy to introduce the City’s tree ordinance, urban forestry initiative, and the City’s public asset inventory project 
• Assisting with the permitting, sediment, reporting and regulatory compliance in support of the City’s Dredging project.
• Designing content and materials for public dissemination and outreach regarding City projects, maintenance activities, and public safety information.
• Preparing written reports on DPW program activities.
• Creating, updating and auditing project financial spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
• Conducting research and analysis of federal, state and local laws related to DPW engineering projects.
• Compiling information, preparing documents and public education materials for community members and stakeholders on DPW projects.
• Participating in city-wide projects in which DPW public works programs and activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Graduated or currently enrolled in the 3rd year of a Bachelor’s degree program or higher in an Engineering, Business, Public Administration, Environmental Science, or related program.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized.
• Proficient computer efficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to demonstrate characteristics of listening, flexibility, follow-through, problem solving, community-orientation, and identifying “win-win” solutions.

PAL (Police Activities League) Program Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

 

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

Mill Valley Recreation is a 7-day a week operation.

• Act as the primary point of contact for rental inquiries, promptly responding to emails, phone calls, and in-person inquiries regarding facility rentals.
• Facilitate the rental booking process by liaising with internal staff and external parties to schedule rental dates, coordinate setup requirements, and confirm rental agreements.
• Oversee the rental application process by providing interested parties with necessary documentation, rental agreements, and pricing details.
• Collect and review rental applications, ensuring all required information is complete and accurate.
• Provide timely updates to both renters and internal stakeholders regarding rental status, payment deadlines, and any changes to rental arrangements.
• Maintain organized records of rental bookings, payments, and rental agreements, ensuring compliance with rental policies and procedures. 
• Schedule and provide regular in-service training for facilities staff. 
• Plan, develop and implement programs and events.

Sausalito Parks and Recreation is Seeking Vibrant Skilled Recreation Leaders

The City of Sausalito is recruiting for part-time temporary help for the spring and summer seasonal recreation activities and City-wide events.  The first of these is the Bocce League referee.

Bocce Referee
As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Bocce Referee, you are responsible for set-up, management, and cleanup of scheduled Bocce matches. You are the enforcer of rules, an impartial judge, and an advocate for fun and fair play. The ideal candidate will maintain a positive attitude and provide a friendly environment when communicating with teams and keeping score. This position reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.   The ideal candidate must meet all minimum requirements as listed below and be confident and capable of dealing with conflict and intense games. 

To be considered for this position, you must be available for the entirety of the season:

• March 5 - May 16 Tues-Thurs (approximately)
• Saturdays May 11th &18th 

Event Staff

As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Event Staff member, you are responsible for actively participating in set-up, cleanup, and management of your assigned event.  You must arrive on time and remain until the event leader release you after the event.   Event staff may set up chairs, tables, stages, corridors, and barriers.  You may be asked to perform traffic control or direct drivers to parking.   The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, smile often, meet all of the minimum requirements below, remain calm under pressure and in the face of adversity, be cheerful, and love the diversity of people. 

The minimum requirements for the position are:

THE POSITION:

This position provides advanced staff level assistance to executive or other management level staff, performs a wide variety of responsible and complex administrative and analytic duties, including providing information to the public and communicating Department and City activities and programs. 

You will join a team of analysts across the City who are assigned to different departments but work together as a team on the important management, budget, communications, and analytic functions for the City.

Senior Management Analyst I – this is the entry-level classification.  Initially incumbents perform the more routine administrative analysis on new and current projects while learning City policies and procedures and gaining specialized knowledge related to the area of assignment.  As experienced is gained, there is a greater independence of action within established guidelines. 

Senior Management Analyst II – this class is the full journey level class and is experienced to work independently in identifying the need for and developing changes to operating practices, systems, programs and policies.  Incumbents perform the full array of duties within the area of assignment, including complex analytical projects and providing staff support to department administration and city officials as well as working with high degree of independence in interacting with all levels of city employees, managers, elected officials, community groups, and other governmental agencies and the public. 

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Assists or leads projects, tasks, and assignments that are priorities for the senior management staff.
• Assumes direct responsibility for managing a variety of projects and programs; oversee assigned administrative support functions including budget.

This position is responsible for the program, administration, and the performance of a comprehensive planning/economic development division and performs professional current and/or advanced planning work.

This position performs the following essential job duties:

• Supervises professional and/or technical staff engaged in City planning activities.
• Establishes priorities and defining processing requirements.
• Responds to questions and issues raised by the City staff, developers, contractors, architects, engineers, and the general public; interpret the General Plan, zoning code and related ordinances or City regulations.

• A Master’s degree in Planning may be substituted for one year of experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Public agency experience desirable.

• Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Director of Administrative Services, the Management Analyst (Risk Management) provides professional support to risk management programs including: workers' compensation, safety compliance, review and approval of contracts and Certificates of Insurance, risk transfer, and leave and disability administration. 

In addition, you will have the opportunity to coordinate and oversee workers' compensation claims management including monitoring accepted claims and providing information to claimants, attorneys, and the workers' compensation carrier. You will also serve as a consultant to City departments and employees on Risk Management (workers' compensation, safety, contract insurance) problems and communicate regularly with internal and external parties to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of assigned programs and activities, minimize risk, and advise of claim developments. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Licenses and Certifications

LIFEGUARD / INSTRUCTOR

Under general supervision, the Lifeguard provides a safe environment for all types of aquatic programs.  The Lifeguard prevents loss of life or injury to patrons and at times performs related maintenance duties.  Some evening and weekend hours are required.  Mandatory pre-season in-service training sessions will be held in June. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Enforces pool rules and regulations; rescues persons in distress and renders First Aid /CPR when necessary; maintains pool records and reports, including program registration and safety reports; follows City policies and procedures; and performs other assigned duties, as required.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

Age Requirement:      

• At least 15 years of age.

 

Experience:                

• Recommended exposure to: swimming lessons instruction or working with young people in an organized environment, and/or participation in the Junior Lifeguard program, or experience as an Instructor’s Aide, or Lifeguard.

 

Knowledge of:           

• Lifeguard rescue and life-saving techniques.
• American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program and basic pool policies and procedures. Or equivalent

 

Ability to:                   

• Demonstrate all Lifeguard Training skills.
• Proficiently swim and demonstrate swimming skills
• Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
• Work with other people contacted in the course of employment

 

Education & Certifications:        

• American Red Cross Lifeguard Training with CPR and First Aid (or equivalent)
• Ability to obtain training in First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22 equivalent)

 

SALARY

Pioneer Community Energy Seeks a Manager, Quantitative Analysis and Modeling

THE POSITION
The Manager, Quantitative Analysis and Modeling is responsible for organizing, assigning, reviewing and participating in professional duties related to analysis and modeling, structured product development, portfolio risk management, and integrated resource planning. Duties include:

• Planning, prioritizing, reviewing and participating in the performance of professional analysis and modeling of risk and value around complex transactions and portfolio positions, including structured products, rate analysis and development, and hedging strategies.
• Developing methods and schedules to accomplish assignments, ensuring work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Developing pricing and calibration models for a variety of products.
• Solving challenging quantitative problems related to setting rates and valuations for structured products.
• Developing Monte-Carlo simulations on a large scale across several variables with relevant coefficients.
• Performing fast and accurate market risk measurements.
•  Conducting complex market and portfolio modeling and analysis of Pioneer’s power supply position to effectively monitoring exposure to adverse market changes.
• Coordinating and participating in Pioneer’s integrated resource planning process including providing analysis and input related to production cost modeling from the CPUC, CAISO, IOUs, and CalCCA.
• Creating and implementing measures to benchmark system implementations, enhancements, or modifications by providing documented system specifications, evaluating vendor proposals, and recommending appropriate course of action.
• Developing portfolio dashboard showing key metrics and risk positions.
• Using a variety of computer software programs to prepare reports, graphs and other materials related to energy resources, finance models and customer statistics.
• Maintaining liaison with regional resource planning or supply agencies; serving on Pioneer committees as required; evaluating proposals in terms of resource costs, availability and consistency with long-term financial projections and resource needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates will have an ability to perform complex analytical work in support of Pioneer’s product structuring, resource planning activities and rate setting and apply analytical and research methods to a variety of electric utility program areas including planning, forecasting, load research, utility demand, and demand-side management.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, Financial Engineering, or Economics.
Experience: Five to ten (plus) years of experience in a position with similar duties including programming expertise (e.g., C++, Python, R, Matlab).

COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Salary - The salary range is $115,934 - $173,322, with placement dependent on qualifications plus generous benefits
