THE POSITION: 

The City of San Pablo is actively recruiting for a Community Services Coordinator I/II position to plan, organize, and direct services and programs within the Community Services Department for our senior population, volunteer programs and city-wide special events. Our senior programs provide opportunities for adults 50 years of age and older, to engage in active and healthy programming. The Church Lane Senior Center hosts a congregate lunch program, numerous senior focused special events, weekday door-to-door transportation service (managed by a different full-time coordinator) and drop- in programs and classes. THE JOB

The Labor & Employee Relations Manager will play a crucial role in fostering positive relationships between the City and its workforce. This is an exciting growth opportunity, as they will manage a significant and growing team, drive positive culture, champion important initiatives for workplace wellness, and assess technology needs across the Department. The Manager will oversee employee onboarding activities and champion workforce policies and procedures and continuously foster a culture of creativity and constant improvement. • SUBSTITUTIONS: Additional professional-level experience as outlined above may be substituted for the college education on a year-for-year basis.
• California Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.

DESIRED:

• Supervisory experience.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The annual salary is $136,041 - $181,866 DOE/DOQ, plus a 5% pay differential and a generous benefits package.

PAL (Police Activities League) Program Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: PAL Program Attendants work with Suisun City’s PAL Program and with area teenagers ages 13-19 to implement educational and recreational activities: tutoring, sports, games, mini-excursions, competitions, contests, seminars, and special events, and provide general support to the program’s Recreation Supervisor. • Oversee the rental application process by providing interested parties with necessary documentation, rental agreements, and pricing details.

• Provide timely updates to both renters and internal stakeholders regarding rental status, payment deadlines, and any changes to rental arrangements.
• Maintain organized records of rental bookings, payments, and rental agreements, ensuring compliance with rental policies and procedures.

DEFINITION:

Under general direction of Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Program Coordinator, the Community and Recreation Program Specialist will assist in coordinating and implementing various community and recreation programs as well as assist with office duties, facility responsibilities, and perform related work as assigned.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

The Community and Recreation Program Specialist is an intermediate level position in the Community and Recreation Services and is responsible for the daily operations in the absence of the Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Program Coordinator. This position is responsible for the implementation of scheduled activities, provide customer service to participants and the public, and ensure strict adherence to standards to maintain program operations while creating a safe and secure environment. This position is distinguished from the Recreation Program Coordinator in that the latter is responsible for creating the recreation programs, while the Recreation Program Specialist is responsible for the implementation of the day-to-day operations of the recreation programs.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (illustrative only):

• Guide and motivate seasonal staff and volunteers to implement programs and activities and meet daily program needs.
• Assists with planning, scheduling, and implementing programs, trips, and activities at a multi-use recreational community center as well as offsite, while working with members and the public as well as special projects as needed.
• Ensures all applicable safety and security standards, City and department policies, procedures, and standards of conduct are known to the customers and participants of the facility and they are adhered to.

• Serves as the primary contact for Community and Recreation Services Department when full-time staff are not on duty.
• Maintains accounting records for program activities.
• Participate as a member or contributor to the City’s Safety Committee group and program.
• Performs basic clerical duties and record keeping.

LARPD is seeking a summer intern to support the Summer Youth Volunteer Program.  Applicants should have the equivalent of one year of college credits completed toward a degree.  Candidates interested in learning about recreation, volunteer management, and community services will be given preference.  Interested candidates should complete an application online. Community Outreach: Summer Youth Volunteers Project Plan 

The Community Outreach team is seeking a summer intern for a 10–12-week assignment.  The goal of the internship is to gain valuable experience managing high school aged volunteers that will support a variety of summer camps and programs throughout the district.  

Key duties 

• Be primary point of contact for Summer Youth Volunteers. 

• Assist with volunteer orientation and ongoing training sessions throughout the summer. 

• Oversee volunteer schedule. 

• Track volunteer hours logging. 

• Create program completion documents. 

• Assist with planning end of summer recognition event. 

Key deliverables will be: 

• Maintain volunteer hour tracking and create end of summer recap report. 

• Complete summer training and check-in reports. 

• Create and distribute volunteer completion certification with hours totals for all summer volunteers. 

• Report any concerns from staff and volunteers or development opportunities for volunteers through regular check-ins. 

What learning will occur for the intern?

Timing

Work hours will be Monday – Friday, 25-30 hours per week during the 12 weeks of employment.  The pay rate will be $20 per hour.  All interns will be required to successfully complete a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and undergo a TB test as a condition of employment.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the entry-level classification in the Park Ranger series responsible for performing a variety of routine maintenance for District parks and open space areas and facilities.  Incumbents at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies.  Work is reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements.  This class is distinguished from the Park Ranger in that the latter provides enforcement of land use laws and regulations and serves as a Peace Officer under the California Penal Code.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Performs a variety of support duties for District parks and open space areas and facilities, including, but not limited to, assisting Park Rangers, visitor services, interpretation services, and camp services.

10. Assists in emergencies involving injury, illness, fire, hazardous water conditions, or other critical incidences by notifying proper authorities; provides first aid/medical care to the level of training.
11. Inspects facilities and grounds for safety and security; identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisor.
12. Follows safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.
13. Performs administrative tasks, such as attending meetings and training, preparing reports, monitoring expenditures, and maintaining records.
14. Assists with District special events as needed.
15. Performs related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED;

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS
