About the Position:  This position requires the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.

The Accounting Technician performs a variety of routine to complex administrative and technical duties related to payroll and other accounting support duties. Top candidates have experience working with financial systems, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology and information systems.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• accounts receivable/payable,
• review, post, balance, reconcile, and maintain accurate and confidential accounting and payroll records,
• verify, post, and record a variety of financial transactions; prepare and maintain databases,
• maintain a variety of ledgers, registers, and journals according to established accounting policies and procedures; reconcile transactions and account statements; record changes and resolve differences; maintain the accuracy of accounting and financial records,
• report generation,
• produce journal entries to post payments to the general ledger,
• accurately prepare employee and vendor payments for retirement and other benefits; submits reportable compensation to CalPERS and process payments; prepare Federal and State tax reports.

Work Environment:  This position is part of Administrative Services at Midpen’s office in Los Altos, California.  Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule for this position.

Education and Experience:  any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: 

• equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level coursework in accounting or finance, and
• three (3) years in the maintenance of financial and accounting records
• experience in public sector finance, with the knowledge of principles of governmental financial recordkeeping and bookkeeping, is highly desired.

Licenses & Certifications Required:   Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting an undergraduate or graduate-level City Administration College Intern for the summer of 2024. This internship will provide a significant opportunity to gain experience and exposure and accumulate skills that are used daily in various city government programs that make substantial impacts to the community. These programs are in the areas of the City Clerks office, emergency management, economic development, public information and outreach, and other municipal administration programs and services.
 
The City Administration Intern will perform a variety of functions under the direction of the City Administrator and supervision of the Assistant to the City Administrator.

VOLUNTEER WORK SCHEDULE 
Internships can start as early as May 31, 2024 and end as late as September 30, 2024. 
 
This paid internship is offered at 15 - 25 hours per week with flexible scheduling. The selected Intern may request a schedule of their choice during standard work hours as described below. The office start and end date of the internship will be determined at the time of hire. Work hours are generally Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 5:00pm.

PAL (Police Activities League) Program Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: PAL Program Attendants work with Suisun City’s PAL Program and with area teenagers ages 13-19 to implement educational and recreational activities: tutoring, sports, games, mini-excursions, competitions, contests, seminars, and special events, and provide general support to the program’s Recreation Supervisor. We’re looking for highly motivated people with a customer service orientation who genuinely enjoy helping others and who are flexible problem-solvers.

The City of Mill Valley is seeking a self-directed problem-solver with an entrepreneurial spirit, high standards of excellence, and demonstrated commitment to public service and meaningful community engagement. 

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Coordinator I – Facilities is responsible for assisting with the smooth operation of activities, programs, rentals, and special events at multiple Recreation Facilities. This position requires a high level of customer service, attention to detail, marketing prowess, and event planning and management expertise.

Mill Valley Recreation is a 7-day a week operation.

Recreation Coordinator I - Facilities schedule may include weekday, weekend, early morning and evening shifts. Schedule is subject to change depending on facility and supervisor needs. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Act as the primary point of contact for rental inquiries, promptly responding to emails, phone calls, and in-person inquiries regarding facility rentals.
• Facilitate the rental booking process by liaising with internal staff and external parties to schedule rental dates, coordinate setup requirements, and confirm rental agreements.
• Oversee the rental application process by providing interested parties with necessary documentation, rental agreements, and pricing details.
• Collect and review rental applications, ensuring all required information is complete and accurate.
• Provide timely updates to both renters and internal stakeholders regarding rental status, payment deadlines, and any changes to rental arrangements.
• Maintain organized records of rental bookings, payments, and rental agreements, ensuring compliance with rental policies and procedures. 
• Schedule and provide regular in-service training for facilities staff. 
• Plan, develop and implement programs and events.
• Evaluate the progress and effectiveness of scheduling and programming utilizing measurable outcomes.
• Assist in the development of policies, procedures, contracts, and manuals for facility users and staff.
• Provide assistance and guidance to facility users, anticipate and resolve problems, provide quality customer service.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
